Visit Paris and Chantilly at the same time! The cottage, built at the turn of the 20th century, is part of an old farm estate in the little hamlet of Montgrésin, on the edge of the great forest that surrounds Chantilly, and is entirely independent of the main house on the other side of a large garden.

You can have the best of both world's here: the peaceful charms of the countryside and a base from which to enjoy the pleasures of Paris, 35 kms away, 20 min by direct train.

About the location

The area around Chantilly has a wealth of historical and literary associations and lovely countryside. Chantilly is a smart, small town, famous for his castle and museums of paintings and horses, horse riding and  whipped cream. Some of the best race meetings in France are taking place in spring and summer. The turf is next to what must be the most noble stables in the world (often open for visits). Next to the race course is a Château, which completes the scene perfectly with its fairytale pinnacles,  domes and swans idling in the water gardens. Senlis is another  attractive, old town, on the edge of the forest near Chantilly, which has a fine, mixed Gothic cathedral and an interesting hunting museum.

Chantilly and Senlis both have weekly markets, where you can find fresh local produce, as well as a variety of shops, including supermarkets. Information about local restaurants is available in the cottage.

The forest is right behind the house and  bicycle riding is very easy, there is a tennis court also behind our garden,  there are few golfs around (Apremont, Vineuil). In Senlis there is a lot  to visit : old streets, cathedrale, museums. Rousseau use to live in  Ermenonville few kilometers from Senlis and there is a splendid garden to visit and a organic market. Amiens and Beauvais are worth visiting for their cathedrales at least and a little bit further (150 km) their is the Somme Valley and the sea side.
