Guest Reviews Of The Farmhouse

Linda and I just wanted to email to say thank you for such a wonderful holiday at The Farmhouse, we didn’t want to leave and we will definitely return there for another holiday! Thank you so much for all your helpful advice prior to our holiday, it was so nice to feel so prepared for our holiday and we know that we really made the most of the area as your tips were great so we tried to explore as much as possible (as you say there is so much to the area so we will definitely need to return to visit some places we missed).
Please give our thanks to Alison for getting the shopping in for us and we were chuffed that she even left us a little note out of a local fete that was taking place when we were over there, we did go and had a lovely day. I really enjoyed looking through the photo album of the renovation of the Farmhouse, you really have done a wonderful job and we were so surprised on the finer details, everything we needed was there, even adaptor plugs as we forgot ours but were still able to charge the phones the first night there! We had some lovely meals (visited 3 of your recommended restaurants) and went back to Chateau Laas for a second meal. Having visited so many areas of France before we really were bowled over by the Pyrenees, it is beautiful and I think it made our day when we were relaxing with a glass of wine in the garden one evening and a deer ran past literally feet away– it felt surreal, it is so peaceful over there and we really felt well rested.
We arrived home and saw our grandchildren the next day and had a shock coming back to reality, but saying that we recommended the holiday to our children as we could see your vast array of children’s equipment and can see that there are many activities over there the grandchildren will enjoy. Once again thank you Sam, we have experienced a walking holiday with you now but next time we are thinking of a winter retreat. A nice glass of red in front of the fire sounds very appealing. All the best to you and your family.

This provided our young family with a truly bespoke holiday experience that struck the perfect balance between family fun and cultural escapism. The Farmhouse is a true delight, modified to contain every modern convenience whilst retaining the true essence of French country charm.
The owners have clearly thought through the needs of a travelling family with great care and attention to detail. The level of support and advice provided, both before and during our holiday, was exceptional and served to make our holiday everything we dreamed it would be. Set in an area that combines tranquil rural surroundings with easy access to local amenities, the Farmhouse location catered for all our needs and allowed us to experience wonderful local cuisine, glorious beaches, stunning mountain scenery, picturesque villages, marvellous markets, fun filled water parks and the feeling that you are experiencing the true nature of southern France.
If you are looking to get away from a the trappings of a 'touristy' experience in France whilst maintaining a practical environment for a young family, then this holiday is exactly what you are looking for.

Thanks, we had a wonderful holiday and definitely the Farmhouse was our favourite place - things we liked were: The personal touches, the notes from yourself and Alison, all the info on hand seemed to have your voice and so when we left we felt that we wanted to say goodbye to you but you weren't there! The toys for the kids - thanks a million, the dvds for me and hubby, The fact that the kitchen was very well thought through and equipped.
We had a truly wonderful dinner at L'hopital St Blaise and the petite train d'artouste was very memorable We loved the markets in Navarrenx The kids loved the walks around Gurs and the little playground. We had a couple of cool drizzly days, the perfect antidote for families coming from summer in the desert! I'm wanting to do a little write-up about our holiday in France on our local expatwoman website. I'll be mentioning how happy we were with the Farmhouse and directing people to your website, so hopefully you'll have lots of contacts through that and then I won't feel so bad about stealing your spoon!

We had an unforgettable holiday in Gurs- it was like living in a dream. We enjoyed the terrain, which was perfect for cycling, and at the end of each day we would gaze at the foothills and admire the farmhouse. I feel like I am still breathing at a higher altitude and I hope it does not wear off soon.
If you ever consider renting out the farmhouse for weekend getaways, let me know. If not, we will start planning for a future summer holiday.

Your farm house was fantastic! We had such a marvelous time. The house was beautiful and spacious. It was great having all the toddler toys and DVDs.
Margaret and Allison were super helpful and such nice ladies. Please give them our regards. We had a great time river rafting, exploring the local restaurants, watching the Tour de France ride through Oloron!!!, the day trip to Biarritz and most of all just relaxing "at home" at the farmhouse. I roasted a scrumptious chicken in the La Cornue oven!
I will never forget the beautiful afternoon light in your back garden. We have unforgettable memories of dinners al fresco while the children played.
