A lovely old 18th century Vendee farmhouse beautifully restored and overlooking surrounding countryside. Situated in a large secluded grassed garden of approximately an acre.

The nearest town is La Chataigneraie which is 10 minutes drive away

Le Puy Renou is beautifully restored Vendee Farmhouse, with beamed rooms and views overlooking the surrounding countryside.

Ground floor

• Kitchen / Dinning Room, large room with beamed ceiling, fitted electric cooker, microwave and gas hob unit, double sink and fridge/freezer, electric water heater.
• Dining table and chairs. French door to the front garden and a glass paneled door to sitting room
• Sitting room - with beamed ceiling, arched windows and a lovely old stone fireplace, T.V. and Video (this will accept English videos, also has BBC1 and BBC2 channels), DVD player, settee's and armchairs. French door to the front garden.
• Bathroom - with twin washbasins, bidet and bath with shower mixer.
• Separate toilet
• Utility Area - with automatic washing machine. Ironing board and iron. All hot water is heated by Electricity.

First floor

3 large separate bedrooms with exposed beams and pine furnishings.

• Bedroom one - has en-suite shower wash basin, toilet, double bed and a cot.
• Bedroom two - has a double bed and  library.
• Bedroom three - is equipped with triple single beds and indoor games.

All beds have duvets and pillows, please bring your own bed linen, cot bedding and towels. 

About the location

Le Puy Renou is a small Hamlet in the Vendee, half a mile from the village of La Chapelle aux Lys, a pretty village with church, doctors surgery and  a small general store/bar. 

It is approximately 190 miles south of St. Malo, 220 miles from Caen and 280 miles from Cherbourg.

The nearest town, La Chataigneraie is a 10 minute drive away and has a variety of shops, a monthly market and two supermarkets.

Local Attractions

Close by is the forest and village of Mervent. Picturesque Vouvant, said to be one of the prettiest villages in France is also nearby. The forest has excellent walks, a zoo and a fun park.

• La Tardiere, 4 miles distant has a small lake for bathing, pedalos and crazy golf. It is particularly suitable for smaller children. Open June to September
• Le Puy de Fou, near Pouzauges, has regular historical re-enactment's during the summer months with illuminated evening performances. (45 minute drive).
• Fontenay-Le-Comte, an historical town with an ancient Chateau is 17 miles away, market day is Saturday. (25 minute drive).
• Parthenay is an interesting old town with a medieval quarter and interesting shops (30 minutes drive).
• La Rochelle and the coast are approximately 1 hours drive away.
• The Loire valley chateau's are about 50 miles north (75 minutes drive).
• Niort, 40 minutes drive away has good shops and a market on Thursday.
• The Marais Poitevin (Green Venice) where you may hire a boat and travel the peaceful waterways. (45 minutes drive).

Poitiers, the ancient regional capital is 50 miles distant. It is also the home of Futuroscope, the European park of the moving image, where there is plenty to amuse the whole family for a day or more. At night during the summer there are fireworks, fountains and laser shows. It is open from March to November, plus Christmas. Overnight accommodation is available at the park.

• Low cost arlines arrive at the following airports, Angers, la Rochelle, Nantes and Poitiers all these airports are within 1,1/2hrs drive of the house.
