Villa Lilas is a self contained, stylish addition to an existing house set amongst pine trees and surrounded by vineyards. It comprises:

• Salon / kitchen / dining area - boast a magnificent 'cathedral' style ceiling with exposed beams. The salon and kitchen have electrically operated shutters
• Bedroom 1 - with a double bed and windows are fitted with traditional painted wooden shutters
• Bedroom 2 - has twin beds and windows are also fitted with traditional painted wooden shutters
• Two bathrooms

The Villa has a 42inch plasma TV/DVD/Home cinema system with Sky freeview satellite plus French terrestrial TV. For your safety and peace of mind there is an intruder alarm system. The villa has a reversible under floor heating/cooling system driven by a heat pump which helps to reduce the carbon footprint. The English owners live in the adjacent villa with their Golden Retriever.

Outside

Although Villa Lilas is linked to the main house via a covered terrace it is an independent dwelling with its own gates, driveway, parking for 2 cars, own garden and entrance door. Barbecue and dine under the 350 year old oak tree after an energetic game of petanque!

About the location

The Villa is located in a secluded wooded area surrounded by vineyards 2 minutes stroll from the centre of the village. There is a stunning restaurant (www.lamaison.gaujac.com) a bar, hair stylist and art gallery in the village with a small shop/cafe even closer where bread and other essentials are available.

Gaujac is situated 10km south of Bagnols-sur-Ceze on the D6086. The adjoining village of Connaux has all the basic amenities including post office, doctor, hairdresser, 3 bread shops, 2 butchers, minimart, florist, tabac, bar, pizzeria and 2 decent restaurants.

Bagnols-sur-Ceze is just a 10 minutes drive and has 2 hypermarkets, great Wednesday morning market and a full range of shops, bars, cafes and restaurants plus a hospital!

A 15 minute drive west will take you to the exquisite village of Uzes, where you can enjoy the colourful market and charming cafes.

Visit the nearby Pont du Gard built 13 A.D., which carried water from Uzes to the Roman city of Nimes, just 40 minutes drive away. Whilst in Nimes, do not miss the 2000 year old Arena and the Maison Carre - beautifully preserved.

Sample the liquid delights of Chateauneuf du Pape after enjoying the stunning walled city of Avignon where the Popes once resided.

The Camargue with the famous wild white horses and flamingos can be reached in an hour and the town of Arles with its 'Van Gogh' trail is worth a stopover on the way back.

Try canoeing on the River Gard to get a different view of the Pont du Gard - from beneath! For the more adventurous there is the Ardeche with it's spectacular gorge which is about half an hours drive away.

The Mediterranean beaches are one hours drive south.

By Train: Eurostar direct from London to Avignon (summer service). TGV trains are frequent from Paris, Roissy/Charles de Gaulle Airport and Brussels into Avignon.

By Plane:  Ryanair from Luton/Stanstead/East Midlands to Nimes or Montpellier. BA from Gatwick to Marseille and Easyjet from Gatwick to Marseille & Montpellier. Flybe from Exeter or Southampton to Avignon. Jet2.com from Leeds/Bradford to Avignon (summer service)

By Car:  Reach Gaujac via A7 and/or A9 autoroutes

Vehicle rental is available at all TGV stations and airports.

Additional price information

• For the comfort of all our guests we invite you to arrive at Villa Lilas after 16:00 and depart before11:00.
• A booking deposit of 30% of the full rental fee is required to confirm the reservation. The balance is due 8 weeks before arrival.
• A deposit of 300 euros is required which will be refunded, subject to the villa being returned to us in the same condition as delivered.
• The preferred means of payment are either bank transfer or French Euro cheque. If you wish to pay in sterling the rate of exchange on the transaction date would prevail.
• Discounted rates are negotiable for periods of longer than 2 weeks (not applicable in high season)
