Villa Hibiscus and Villa Mimosa are a beautiful pair of renovated Perigordian farmhouses at Le Four a Sel, a former 18th century farm situated in a delightful and tranquil riverside setting They are secluded yet only 2 km from the shops and Lascaux caves in Montignac. They are ideally located for anyone wanting to discover and explore the beautiful Dordogne with castles, caves, medieval towns and stunning gardens no more than 45 minutes drive away.

Surrounded by lush cornfields, it has views of open countryside, 14 acres of land, a garden and orchard dotted with fruit trees, a private shared swimming pool, a huge courtyard and a covered play area for younger children and another outdoor play area for the more active ones.

The 2 villas are ideal for families or groups holidaying together as these can be rented in tandem, so you still have your privacy and yet can enjoy each other's company whilst on holiday. We are next to the river Vezere, replete with barbel, salmon, catfish, perch pike and other types of fish which you can freely catch right at your doorstep, great for fishing enthusiast s or feven for those who just want to dabble casually in the sport during the holiday.

The Dordogne is a magnificent area for walkers,cyclists,birdwatchers and nature lovers .Here  along the way you are likely to spot deer,wild boar, rabbits, otters, kingfishers, fox, sparrows, buzzards, red squirrels and many other wildlife and birds.

Le Four a Sel is an ideal place for a family holiday, with lots of things to see and do for adults and children of all ages with sufficient onsite facilities to keep the children entertained and unlimited land area for adults to find their own private corner to relax. Our grounds are a haven for birdwatchers, nature lovers and fishing enthusiasts and for anyone simply seeking to unwind and get away from it all.

We are open all year and the Dordogne is a wonderful place to visit even outside of the summer period. Villa Hibiscus has wall mounted electric heaters making it suitable for use also in the colder months. For Villa Mimosa, portable heaters are provided. • Our garden and orchard is dotted with various fruit trees that offer a welcome shade in the summer.
• We have a 10m x 4m swimming-pool (with fence and alarm for added safety). Sunloungers, deckchairs and parasols provide comfortable sitting around the pool area.
• More of these are provided by the river where you can fish privately.
• There is a huge courtyard with a large shaded patio where adults can just sit and relax, whilst opposite is a covered play area where children can play table tennis, basketball or boardgames.
• Another play area in the back garden contains a swing and climbing frame and football net.
• We have 14 acres of land so there is a lot of space for children to run around safely and for adults to find their own private space for relaxation.

Accommodation comprises:

• American Kitchen / Dining area  - with dining table and 8 chair. The kitchen is fully equipped with microwave, fridge/freezer, 4 ring gas stove, kettle, toaster, coffeemaker, dishwasher.
• Lounge - with large 3 piece suite, TV, DVD player. A selection of DVD’s can be hired  from reception.  WiFi  is available
• Two double bedrooms - main bedroom decorated in traditional french syle with a double sleigh bed
• Twin bedroom - with 2 single beds
• Single room - with a single bed that can be replaced with a bunk bed to accommodate 2 children.
• Bathroom - (shower) large walk-in area and WC, 2 sinks
• Washing machine onsite

About the location

We are in Aubas, 2km from Montignac where you will find a huge selection of restaurants and cafes, 2 supermarkets, bank, post office and bakeries. Montignac is a charming village with beautiful stone and timbered houses, lots of cafes and restaurants in the towncenter or by the river and more just 30 minutes away for excellent food with a lively market on Wednesdays, not to be missed.

Villa Hibiscus and Villa Mimosa are just 10 minutes from Lascaux caves. There is mini golf center, tennis and outdoor swimming pool. You can go for a quiet stroll along the river and stop at one of the cafes or restaurants for an ice cream or a coffee or have a meal whilst watching people canoe leisurely down the river.

In late July, Montignac hosts a music and arts festival with street performers all throughout the town and then a wonderful fireworks display over the River Vezere on the last night.
There is also a small beach 20 minutes away. Sarlat, the famous medieval town and capital of the region, is just 20 minutes drive, with an excellent waterpark along the way.

How to get here

Nearest airports are Beregerac and Limoges, 1.30minutes by car. These are served by Ryan Air and BMI Baby. Bordeaux Airport is 1hr45 minutes away.

From Calais, it is an 8 hour drive or if  going through Paris, this can be reduced to 7 hours.

From Paris,it is a 4 hour journey and the nearest train station to us is Condat (10, minutes away) or Brive La Gaillarde (25 minutes away).
