Stunning riverside property in 15 acres.Peaceful setting close to shops

Le four a Sel is a  group of 3 Holiday homes just 2km from Montignac, site of the  prehistoric Lascaux caves and 25 minutes from Sarlat . This stunning 15 acre riverside property beside the Vezere  is in an excellent location: Peaceful and secluded  yet only 5 minutes from shops ,cafes & restaurants. You can walk to a bakery/ bar/ restaurant  and many tourist sites are just 30 minutes away so you won't need to travel too far to explore this beautiful part of France. Both the swimming pool and the river are protected by a fence and gate to keep children safe. This is an ideal place for a family holiday. Our onsite facilties are sufficient to keep everyone amused so no need to go sight seeing everyday to entertain the kids.

Villa Orchidee, the Main house has 6 bedrooms, all ensuite & a 7th bedroom with a double bed , but no private bathroom.It sleeps up to 17.

Villa Hibiscus has  4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, sleeps 8.

Villa Mimosa  2 bedrooms, can sleep 5. Special reduced rates for couples at certain periods .

We are open all year . The houses have wall mounted electric heaters. Villa Orchidee and Vill Hibiscus also have a wood burning stove in the lounge. Reduced rates for long lets . Please enquire via email for details.

We can host special group events such as yoga retreats, birthday gatherings, anniversaries, large family holidays, walking groups and reunions. We have an in house chef if you require catering for that special occasion.

Villa Orchidée is a spacious renovated farmhouse with 6 ensuite bedrooms suitable for up to 15. It is ideal for a group of 5 or 6 couples or for 3 families  who wish to share a house together  as all rooms are ensuite .  It is one of 3 Holiday homes at Le Four a Sel,   a riverside property in a stunning setting . The house still retains its original features of oak beams and yellow stone walls .Enjoy magnificent views from the bedroom window, 15 acres of space in our private gardens, a children's play ground with swings,slide, football field and badminton net, a covered play area with table tennis, a covered terrace for al fresco dining whatever the weather , 450 meters of private river fishing onsite from dawn to dusk and free Wifi. Both the pool and the river are protected by a fence and gate to keep children safe. You can walk to a bakery/ bar/ restaurant for fresh croissants & baguettes..Shops and amenities are just 5 minutes away in Montignac with many tourist sites within a 30 minute drive.
BBQ ,parasols by the poolside ,benches and outdoor furniture are provided. Open all year, there is a woodburner stove in the lounge and all rooms have electric heaters for the cooler months. And if you're celebrating a birthday, an anniversary or special occasion during your holiday, we have an in house chef who can create that special meal for you to mark the occasion.Why not start with  aperitifs by the river , followed by al fresco dinner or lunch in the covered terrace. There is seating here for up to 28 guests.

Accommodation comprises

• Two Double bedrooms
• Two Triple Bedrooms (with a double bed and a single bed)
•  Family room consisting of 2 rooms interconnecting. The first room has a double bed and the 2nd room has 3 single beds)
• All rooms are ensuite with  toilet and shower. There is a 7th bedroom with a double bed, no private bathroom
• Dining area - spacious (8m x 9m)  enough to seat  up to 30 people.
• Fully equipped Kitchen with microwave, fridge/freezer, 4 ring gas stove, kettle, toaster, coffeemaker, dishwasher.
• Lounge - with settee, armchair, TV  with English satellite channels and DVD player. A selection of DVD’s can be hired from reception. WiFi is available.
• 2 Washing machines available onsite

Two of the rooms have their own private entrance leading onto the courtyard.
Outside

• Sunloungers, deckchairs and parasols provided by the pool and riverside
• Private fishing -we have 450 m of river frontage so you can fish from dawn to dusk at your doorstep
• Courtyard where you can play petanque
• Covered play area with table tennis
• Outdoor play area in the garden with a swing, climbing frame and football net,badminton net,sandpit,see-saw
• 2 Washing machines are available in the laundry room onsite
• Smoking is not permitted inside the house but you can smoke outside , in the covered terrace

About Aubas in Dordogne, Aquitaine

The property is in Aubas, a quiet sleepy village 2km from Montignac, site of the famous prehistoric Lascaux caves. Montignac is a charming town with beautiful stone and timbered houses and lovely cafes and restaurants by the river.  It has a lively market on Wednesdays.

In July Montignac hosts a colorful week long music & dance festival that culminates in a wonderful fireworks display. The area around us offers a multitude of fascinating activities and sites no more than an hour's drive: troglodyte shelters, stalactite caves, stunning gardens, fairy tale castles, fortified towns built on cliffs with magnificent views of the valley. The area is great for walking or cycling with paths properly marked for different capabilities. Bikes are available for hire from a shop just 10 minutes walk away. 

There is so much to see and do suitable for adults and children of all ages: Canoeing down the Dordogne, horseriding, hot air ballooning, falconry displays, a corn maze. There is an aquarium parc just 35 minutes away, with special events like dive feeding of sturgeon and carp and a diver show. Sarlat, a medieval town is just half an hour away and has a huge Saturday market not to be missed. During the summer you will find many street performers and musicians entertaining in  its square and cobbled alleys. Great atmosphere in the evenings. For wine lovers, Bergerac  and Cahors are not far away (1.5 hrs) while Bordeaux, for beaches and more vineyards, is a 2 hour drive and can be done as a day trip.

For those wanting to combine golf with sightseeing and gastronomy during their holiday, there are 3 golf courses near us, one of them (18 hole) is just 40 minutes drive. We can arrange your own tee off time.

There are many interesting festivals from June - September: Hat festival, Mime festival, scarecrow festival, Jazz Festival - as well as  day and night markets to sample the local delicacies, cheese and wine. You will find that the 2 weeks is simply not enough to explore and enjoy this region.

How To Get To Aubas in Dordogne, South West France

Nearest airports are Bergerac and Limoges, 1.5 hours by car. These are served by Ryan Air and BMI Baby. Bordeaux Airport is 1 hour 45 minutes away. Poitiers, now served by Ryan air, is 3 hours away.

From Calais, it is an 8 hour drive or if  going through Paris, this can be reduced to 7 hours. St.Malo is 6.5 hours away.

From Paris it is a 4 hour journey and the nearest train station to us is Condat (10 minutes away) or Brive La Gaillarde (25 minutes away).
