A Beautiful Château in the Tarn, South West France.

A delightful, light filled Château  in the Tarn, one of the most beautiful departments in France. Built in 1850, the Château has been completely restored whilst retaining it's original features such door and ceiling mouldings and mellow terracotta tiled floors. The decoration is a harmonious, pared down  mix of French antiques with a more contemporary twist. With sofas to sink into and comfortable beds, the Château is a pleasure to live in.

Outside the Château is surrounded by pretty gardens, woods, and on one side a meandering river. There is a 15 metre pool, good for doing laps or just splashing around. This is a place where you can hear the birds sing, hear yourself think, and just relax into.

This beautiful 19th century  Château comprises 4 double bedrooms and 1 en suite twin bedroom. The are four bathrooms of which 3 are en suite.

All rooms are large with high ceilings, many with chandeliers and mouldings on ceilings and doors. Large kitchen dining room, with smaller back kitchen. Living room of approximately 80 square metres and smaller TV living room.

There is also a study and  a piano. The Château is furnished in a comfortable mix of antiques and contemporary style.

About Puycelci in Tarn, Midi Pyrenees

There are rivers, hills, cliffs, vineyards - all in the same region. Villages with weekly markets and restaurants for a late lunch. During the summer months the region comes alive with each village holding a summer fête, where, after dinner, everybody dances the night away. Tickets are sold through the local mairies - town halls. Many villages also hold classical music festivals using old churches as concert halls. In Gaillac, the nearest town, there is the annual wine festival held every July. Or if you miss it, you can always do a tour of the vineyards, tasting the local Gaillac wines. Gaillac has a few decent restaurants, bars and cafés, and has a number of big supermarkets for major weekly food shopping.

Albi, the capital of the Tarn is not far. , Here you can visit the magnificent cathedral of St. Cecile, renowned for it's extraordinary frescoes of heaven, purgatory and hell, devised centuries ago as a warning to Cathars.  Next door to the cathedral is the museum dedicated to local artist, Toulouse Lautrec. The centre of Albi, like Toulouse, is built entirely of sun mellowed rose coloured brick, and is well worth a days sightseeing. Every Saturday morning it has a good sized 'marché aux puces' - flee market.

The beautiful city of Toulouse is just an hours drive away, and has everything a major city can offer - fabulous museums and churches, restaurants to suit every taste and budget, and enough boutiques to inspire even the most ardent fashionista. En route to Toulouse you could also take in L'Isle sur Tarn, famous for it's rose brick colonnaded square, second only to the Place des Vosges in Paris.

How To Get To Puycelci in Tarn, South West France

From Toulouse airport

Leaving the airport follow signs to Albi, which will take you round the ring road onto the A 68 motorway -  toll 1.30 euros. Leave the motorway at Junction 9 direction Gaillac. Go towards Gaillac and then follow signs for Castlenau de Montmiral, which will bring you onto the D964. Go through Castelnau and follow signs to Puycelsi and Larroque.

From the Channel

Follow signs to Arras and Paris getting onto the A26, E15. After Arras the motorway becomes the A1. Nearing Paris follow signs for Orléans, Bordeaux and get onto motorway A10.  From Orléans the A71 to Vierzon, and from Vierzon the A20,E9 direction Chateauroux, Limoges, Toulouse. Stay on this motorway until Caussade, exit 59. Go through Caussade following signs to St.Antonin and Gaillac. At Montricoux follow signs to Bruniquel and Gaillac. Then signs to Larroque. The château is between Larroque and Puycelsi.
