Maison Poirier is a 200 year old beautifully renovated cottage. It is situated in the heart of the Cognac and Pineau producing region, in a small hamlet close to the village of Migron. The cottage has 3 large bedrooms each tastefully decorated along with 2 bathrooms on 2 floors and separate wc. There is also a fully equipped sitting room and large kitchen/diner leading on to the rear courtyard.

In the gardens, guests can appreciate the enclosed roman ended swimming pool (10m x 5m) and charming stone built summer-house with barbecue facilities for 'al fresco' dining.

There is an extensive games room which also includes mountain bikes for trips around the sunny vineyards.

The accommodation sleeps up to 8 people comfortably.

Internally it comprises:

Ground floor:

• Lounge with satellite TV and video, DVD player,CD player, an extensive library of reading material and videos
• Kitchen/dining room, open plan with dining table seating 8 people comfortably. Kitchen facilities include ample crockery, cutlery and glasses, etc, diswasher, fridge/freezer, cooker, microwave, washing machine, ironing facilities
• 2 spacious bedrooms, 1 with double bed and 1 with twin single beds
• Shower room, with toilet and wash hand basin
• Separate toilet, with wash hand basin

First floor:

• Large bedroom, with up to 4 single beds
• En suite shower room with toilet and wash hand basin

Generally:

• Central heating: oil fired central heating with 2 wood burning stoves in the lounge and dining area
• Linen and towels: all bed linen is supplied. Pool towels available on request
• Baby equipment available :  cots, high chairs, booster seat, stair gate, baby bath, changing mat
• Internet connection available.

Externally it comprises:

• Private courtyard with barbecue, well, table and chairs, clothes drying area and covered parking
• Enclosed swimming pool, 10m x 5m roman ended, with ample sun loungers and parasols, located within the large garden area
• Summerhouse stone built with traditional Charentaise fireplace providing barbecue facility, comfortable seating area for shelter against the hot summer sun, table and  chairs for 'al fresco' dining, fridge, CD player. All situated within the large garden area overlooking the swimming pool
• Games and leisure facilities including pool table, table tennis, table football, croquet, badminton, darts, pétanque, bikes (child seats and headgear available)

About the location

The Charente-Maritime, with its exhilarating micro-climate, offers much interest. You can explore the Marais Poitevin (Green Venice), visit historic towns such as Angoulême (45 mins), Poitiers (75 mins), Saintes (20 mins), La Rochelle (75 mins), the Cognac distilleries (15 mins) or even Futuroscope (90 mins). There are numerous good (and reasonably priced) restaurants in the area and the superb local markets offer an amazing range of fresh seafood, farm produce and cheeses.

How to get here

The cottage can be accessed by road from the ports of St Malo, Le Havre, Cherbourg, Caen and Calais. The nearest motorway junction is at St Jean D'Angely and is junction 34 on the A10. Alternatively, we are central to the airports of La Rochelle, Poitiers, Limoges, Angouleme and Bordeaux.

Additional price information

• All prices are per week and based on 6 people or less sharing.
• There is an additional £100 per week payable for 7 or 8 people sharing.
• Periods of less than a week are pro-rata.
• A discount of 25%  applies for couples in April, May, September and October

Additional information:

• Available for long lets out of season – price  and details on application.
• Change over days are normally Saturdays, but in low season other days can be arranged.
• Cot, high chair, baby bath, etc., available if required.
• Welcome basket on arrival.
• Free taxi service to local restaurant.
