Home description

Le Repaire (French for "pirates' nest") consists of 5 lovely stone cottages lying in the shadow of the owner's 18th Century manor house in 5 acres of wooded parkland. 

A lovely valley borders Le Repaire, 1.5 miles from the village of Mareuil and halfway between the historic cities of Angoulême and Périgueux.

The 5 separate self-contained cottages are situated in a hilltop hamlet and sleep all together up to 24 persons. Facilities include two on-site swimming pools, tennis court, volleyball and a children's play area. Le Repaire offers tranquillity, privacy and a save setting for children. Its situation and surroundings guarantee a truly peaceful and relaxing holiday.

Accommodation

All the cottages are spacious and comfortable chalk stone farmhouses that have been restored in the typical Périgourdine style with many original features like open fireplaces, heavily beamed rooms and exposed stonework.

Their situation and the shared facilities make Le Repaire ideal for holidays with children and enable our guests to 'holiday-apart-together'. Moreover, renting all 5 cottages opens the possibility to accommodate larger groups of relatives and/or friends up to 24 persons at the same time.

Le Repaire is also open to receive guests in the off-season in the cottages Chez Mimi, Chez Misja, Le Boulou and La Belle. Some of the cottages are named after neighboring rivers. Chez Mimi carries the name of a French resistance group that went into hiding in the adjacent manor in 1944.

Facilities per cottage

• Own terrace and garden; barbecue and garden furniture are available.
• Linen and bath towels (no swimming towels); we provide new towels every week.
• All kitchens are well equipped and contain all the essentials like oven, fridge, washing machine, the necessary kitchen utensils and ironing board.

Shared facilities

• 12 x 6 metre illuminated swimming pool with shower, shaded terrace, sun loungers, tables and chairs.
• 3 x 4 metre children's pool.
• Tennis court.
• Table tennis.
• Volleyball/badminton area.
• Children's play area with sandpit, swings and slides.

This beautiful, authentic cottage has been recently restored and offers a lot of light, space and comfort.

Ground floor

La Belle is specially suited for disabled people and has therefore special facilities on the ground flour including no threshold.

• Kitchen / living / dining room - a very spacious room with stone fireplace and annex kitchen, dining area.
• Bathroom - spacious room with anti skid shower (with special shower chair), a high toilet (with arm supports) and a washing cabinet suited for wheel chairs.
• Bedroom 1 - this is next to the bathroom and has a double and single bed and its own entrance to the terrace (accessible for wheelchairs).

First floor

• Bedroom 2 - spacious double bedroom
• Bedroom 3 - a twin bedroom
• Bathroom - with bath/shower and toilet.

This cottage is also specially equipped for stays during off-season periods.

About the location

Le Repaire is situated in the heart of the Parc Naturel Régional Périgord-Limousin in the Département Dordogne which is known for its beautiful scenery, many castles and prehistoric remains.

How to get here

1.   From Calais (Dover)take the Autoroute des 
      Anglais  A26/E15
2.   At Arras turn on the Autoroute du Nord A1 direction 
      Paris
3.   After airport Charles De Gaulle, take the A3 Paris-
      Est direction Bordeaux
4.  Then continue on the A86, following the roadsigns 
      Bordeaux all the time
5.   Leaving Paris take the A10/E5 direction Orléans, 
      Tours, and then Poitiers
6.   At the exit Poitiers-Sud (exit 30) take the N10/E3  
      direction Angoulême
7.  Just before Angoulême, continue on  the N10
      following direction Bordeaux
8.  Take exit indicating Angoulême/Libourne (D699) 
      and follow signs Périgueux/Soyaux (D100 Rocade 
      Est)
9.   At last roundabout take the D939 to Périgueux
10. Halfway between Angoulême and Périgueux take
       the first exit to Mareuil-Centre
11. Follow Rue du Repaire into the countryside and 
       continue for 2,5 km, arrving in the hamlet Le 
       Repaire.
