Private Stone Farmhouse in Dordogne Valley, Amazing Views and Pool
Le Gers offers every luxury and total privacy with a breathtaking view of the unspoilt Dordogne river valley and hills beyond.
It is situated in a conservation area within a pretty hamlet of 4 houses within 10 minutes walking distance of the small medieval village of Limeuil at the confluence of the Dordogne and Vezere Rivers which has a choice of restaurants and a boulangerie.Only a f6km drive away is the market town of Le Bugue.
This exceptional farmhouse is full of character and charm originally being restored by a well known French Artist. It is restored to the highest standard to offer every modern convenience sleeping six in three bedrooms. Three barns form an enclosed courtyard from which there is access to the gardens, large pool, private field and river beyond.
Outside
- Shady terrace with Linden Tree, fantastic views across valley. Large teak table and chairs. BBQ. Raised stone well.
- Enclosed courtyard (child friendly) Large area with parking and lawn with gated access to lower garden and steps down to pool.
- 3 barns. One is converted to an artists studio or games barn with tiled floor badmington Court and views over the valley. The large tobacco barn has shaded parking for cars. The cow barn is in its original state with resident bats and owls. There is also a piggery with log storage.
- Pool – floodlit 12 x 6m, surrounded by hardwood decking. It is built out of the side of the hill so has wonderful views but retains privacy. Recessed stone seat and pool loungers. Pool shower .The pool is cleaned and maintained throughout your stay.
There is a mature garden with apple, peach, walnut and hazelnut trees ( the 2 walnut trees have some of the largest nuts in the area !) and lots of roses, perennials and herbs. A hammock is also available.
The private field has rough grass and a footpath at the end to fields beyond, the river Dordogne and the local village.
Holiday Accommodation at Le Gers
Le Gers offers very comfortable accommodation with original beams, exposed stone walls, tiled and chestnut floors. Original fires, alcoves, a hall with stained glass window and electrically operated velux windows in the roof all go to make this a wonderful home in the Dordogne. It also has full gas central heating making it cosy and a good option for out of season stays. It is set up as a home from home so there really is everything you need for a comfy stay.
The accommodation comprises:
Ground Floor
- Entrance hall - with cloakroom
- Kitchen - fully equipped with oven, hob, built-in fridge, dishwasher and microwave. Expresso machine.Table and chairs in front of large open fire. There is an extensive range of crockery, cutlery and cooking equipment to meet the demands of even the most advanced Gourmand.
- Separate laundry room with washing machine, tumble dryer and freezer, iron and ironing board. Indoor line ( just in case).
- Lounge – has an old fireplace and views across the valley. Large three seater settee (incorporating full size double sofabed which is available by prior arrangement as additional sleeping accommodation), two seater settee and armchairs. There is French TV and a DVD player.
- Dining Room – with sideboard, bookcase, table and chairs. The dinning room is full height (3 floors).
First Floor
There is an upper entrance door to stone balcony and steps to courtyard
- Family area - with TV, (French and English) DVD video and stereo . Selection of books and board games.Story Tapes.Comfy chairs and cushions.
- Bedroom 1 – large bed 6x6'6 size bed with handmade chestnut fitted wardrobes and drawers.( views across valley)
- Bedroom 2 – twin beds, wardrobe and drawers.( views across valley)
- Bathroom – large, luxuriously appointed master bathroom with corner bath,shower , basin, WC, bidet and original stone sink.
Second Floor
- Bedroom 3 – double bed, wardrobe and drawers. Please note this is an attic room.
- Pigeoniere – there is a small room in the pigeoniere which can be used for a cot.
- Bathroom – large fully tiled bathroom with bath, shower, basin, WC and bidet. Also extra bed on mezzanine use by prior arrangment.
About Limeuil in Dordogne, Aquitaine
Limeuil, situated at the junction of the Dordogne and Vezere rivers, is a medieval village and listed as one of the prettiest in France. It has a good selection of local restaurants, boulangerie and artisans for glassblowing, pottery, iron forge and local products such as Foie Gras, Confit du Canard and of course a wine cave for tasting and buying.
Le Bugue (6km) is a lovely market town (Tuesday and Saturday with restaurants, supermarkets shops and banks. There is an excellent Cave with vast selection, tastings and good advice.
There is so much in the local area it is almost impossible to know where to start. All age groups are catered for. There are prehistoric sites, troglodyte villages, bastide towns such as Monpazier, Belves and Villareal. Perigueux and Bergerac are an easy drive.
There are châteaux for visiting and wine tasting. Monbazillac is worth a visit. There are colourful markets in the area almost every day including Sunday and, during the summer, countless local fetes, travelling shows, night markets and dancing in the square to bands with accordions!
The wildlife is amazing. There are owls, bats, birds of pray, swallows, butterflies and much more.
Le Gers provides a wonderful base to make your holiday as busy or relaxed as you chose and those needing to revive flagging spirits need only sit on the terrace and watch the sun go down.

- Rentals are from Saturday to Saturday.
- All towels are provided Except pool towels.All cleaning products including washing powder are provided as must be Fosse freindly.
- Extra cleaning and bed linen changes are available at any time and payable locally.
- Summer lets include electricity and gas but winter lets will be subject to an additional charge for central heating.
- 25% deposit will be required with the balance due 8 weeks before departure.
A security deposit of £300 will be returned within 2 weeks of your return home.
