17th Century Farmhouse and Cottage with Jet Stream Pool

Les Chauvins has a large pool (70m²).  The Farmhouse has a well equipped games room, a music area, and a large Plancha for easy outdoor meals.

Les Chauvins is a beautiful 17th Century Charentaise Farmhouse and Cottage,The Maison d'Amis, set in one acre of well tended, established gardens, with lovely views over open countryside.

The five bedroom Farmhouse (320m²) and three bedroom Cottage (100m²) surround a pretty courtyard which is at the end of a country lane. To their west is the walled swimming-pool, beyond which are uninterrupted views of the valley.

The Pool

The swimming-pool is set within the walls of a former barn and is almost square (9m x 7.5m). It has a powerful jet- stream to swim against in the deep end, which can be switched on and off, and underwater lights. The pool is 90cm deep at the shallow end and 2m deep at the deep end, and is securely fenced off, with a gate. Inside the pool area there is a covered terrace with benches and poolside furniture, see photos on owners website and facebook. The pool is for the exclusive use of the Farmhouse and Maison d'Amis, a maximum of 16 people.

Holiday Accommodation at The Maison d'Amis

The accommodation comprises:

• Two Double Bedroom (one with ensuite shower and basin)
• 1 Twin Bedroom
• Bathroom with bath, basin and WC.
• South facing roof terrace (20 sq metres) with stunning views of the Charente countyside.
• Sitting room with original stone fireplace and exposed beams, flat screen TV and DVD player with a large selection of DVDs for all ages.
• Kitchen/dining room - the kitchen has a dishwasher, washing machine and microwave. There is also a CD/MP3 player and a good selection of CDs for all musical tastes. 
• Outside store room: Contains a selection of tennis, badminton and softball rackets. Bikes are also available to borrow

Outside

There is a small private west facing garden to the front, a pretty kitchen garden to the rear. There is also a south facing roof terrace with superb views of the surrounding countryside and breathtaking views of the night sky. The gardens and roof terrace are not overlooked and are perfect places to relax and watch the world go by. The Maison D'Amis is equipped with outdoor furniture and a barbeque to enjoy perfect summer dining. To the south there is a boules or petanque pitch under the shade of a large tree and to the north a large grassed area. This has a play area for our smaller guests, icluding swings and sandpit. There is also an area for baminton and space to play, footbal, cricket, soft ball or whatever game takes your fancy!

About Vaux Lavalette in Charente, Poitou Charentes

Les Chauvins is in the commune of Salles-Lavalette, a pretty little village with church, bakery, food boutique and post office. Salles Lavalette is on the Dordogne / Charente border, 20 miles due south of Angouleme the capital of the Charente, and 50 miles north west of Perigueux the capital of the Dordogne. The medieval market town of Villebois Lavalette is 7 miles away, with doctor, dentist, bank, post office, butcher, supermarket and saturday morning market. Riberac with its popular Friday morning market is 15 miles to the south west, in the Dordogne.

Aubeterre, officially one of the prettiest villages in France is about 13 miles away, with its monolithic church, river beach, canoeing and many bars and restaurants. During the summer most of the local villages hold their summer fairs which often include fireworks, and car boot sales. Everyone is welcome.

The wine regions of Cognac, Bordeaux, St. Emilion and Bergerac, the Atlantic coast with La Palmyre Zoo and Futuroscope at Poitiers are all within two hours drive.
