La Crabouille is an idyllic farmhouse in the Dordogne, near Bergerac. It is spacious (over 490 square metres), comfortable, has been lovingly restored and has everything you could want for your perfect French holiday. 

It is in a peaceful setting, with 18 acres of meadows and woodland. La Crabouille is fully centrally heated and has log fires for winter bookings.

This capacious property easily sleeps up to 21 people plus cots.

The accommodation comprises:

First floor

• Kitchen - large, with its stunning white stone fireplace, is well equipped with all mod cons and has a huge oak dining table.
• Salon and gallery - have original beams, a beautiful fireplace and the salon is comfortably furnished including TV, CD and video. Stone steps lead from the salon down to the garden, terrace and barbecue area with plenty of wooden garden furniture, for alfresco dining either under the covered terrace or in the garden.
• Two double bedrooms - one double with en-suite shower, basin and toilet the other is with twin single beds.
• Bathroom - with a large corner bath.

Second and Mezzanine floor

• Two bedrooms - one double bedroom with en-suite shower, basin and toilet the other has a double bed with an extra single bed.
• Mezzanine - reading room with armchairs and a fold down sofa bed, overlooking the salon.

All four of these bedrooms are spacious and full of character, with exposed beams and stonework.

Ground floor

This is a cosy self contained section of the house accessed from stairs leading down from the salon above or direct from the east terrace and garden.

• Breakfast kitchen - doubles up as the games room with table tennis and pool table, fireplace and exposed beams.
• Study - library with TV and video player and fold down sofa bed.
• One double bedroom - with en-suite shower, basin and toilet.
• Two childrens bedrooms -  with bunk beds and an extra single bed in each.
• Bathroom - with basin and toilet.
• Cave - with extra fridge and freezer with racks of wine and shelves of preserves.

Outside

The large enclosed gardens are a safe haven for young children to play in. Honeysuckle, clematis, wisteria, grape vines, figs, lemons and kiwi fruits adorn every corner, and the covered terrace with its summer kitchen and stone-built barbecue enables you to dine alfresco and watch the sun set over the horizon, whatever the weather. There are woods and walks straight from the farmhouse, and even the ultimate fresh eggs for breakfast, from the free-range resident chicken population. La Crabouille makes for an ideal setting to relax and unwind.

The gorgeous 10m x 5m mosaic-lined floodlit swimming pool is south-facing and has roman steps for easy access.  The pool is separately fenced and lockable for the safety of young children. Sun loungers, garden tables and a paddling pool are made available around the pool.

About the location

Although La Crabouille is quiet and secluded, it is close to all the expected Dordogne attractions. There are medieval villages to explore, bustling, colourful markets and vineyards to visit where you can taste the local wines. (Such as Montbazilac, Percharment, St Emillion).

You could wander around the historic market towns of Bergerac, Sarlat and Périgueux, and enjoy lunch at restaurants, serving the famous gastronomic delights that this area is renowned for. Travel back in time visiting châteaux, historic fortified towns, caves and grottos, or simply relax and enjoy the French way of life!

If you are feeling adventurous, La Crabouille is also just 2 hour’s drive from the beautiful stretches of pale sandy beaches on the west coast, and 2 hours from fondues, skiing and snowboarding in the Massif Centrale mountains.

How to get here

La Crabouille is 90 minutes away from Bordeaux airport and only 15 minutes from Bergerac airport. Bergerac is served by Ryanair and others operating out of Stanstead, Bristol, Southampton and Midlands.
