Marmande (Lot-et-Garonne)
The 'garden of France' as the Garonne area is known, attracts tourists and gourmets to sample its delights throughout the growing seasons and beyond.
The Garonne Valley is known as the 'garden of France' and is in effect an invitation to gourmets to come and taste the produce of the Garonne - delicious strawberries, sweet melons and from Marmande their famous tomatoes. Fish specialities come straight from the river - induldge in tasting lamprey, pike, shad, or eels all cooked according to traditional customs.
As Marmande is famous for its tomatoes, a festival dedicated to tomatoes is held annually in July.
