Meux (Charente-Maritime)
A small but pleasant village close to the town of Jonzac in the Charente Maritime.
The village of Meux has its own tiny but pretty chateau which is well worth a visit (guided tours available in French). The chateau is next to an attractive church where recitals are sometimes held throughout the year.
In the village you'll also find a very good boulangerie-cum-general store, plus a restaurant serving enourmous grills which are cooked on an open fire by Laurent, the owner-chef. Big appetite essential!
On the outskirts of Meux is a small zoo. Nearby is a pretty renovated windmill.
