Country House Nr Sarlat, Private Heated Pool & Air Conditioning
Combe-Claire has been designed by the renowned French architect, Francois Coq. The style has been inspired by the style of Chartreuse (Carthusian monastery) with all the beauty of a Perigordine stone house and the modern facilities for maximum comfort. Both house and the private, heated swimming pool, enjoy a southerly aspect with a magnificent panoramic view of the valley. The house is full of light and is beautifully decorated throughout.
Combe-Claire offers accommodation for group of up to 10 guests in 5 ensuite bedrooms. The 13m x 5m, non-chlorine, heated private swimming pool has a delightful waterfall and can be enjoyed in all seasons. The pool's specifically designed roman steps are ideal for young children. The house has many features such as stone flooring, beautiful oak beams and a large stone open fireplace which adds a focus of warmth in the cooler months. All bedrooms have air conditioning.
In spring the fruit trees blossom on the slopes surrounding the house. The deer pass by in the valley and wild boar occasionally forage in the local woods. In autumn the early morning mist gives way to warm sunshine that ripens the figs and walnuts. In the immediate surroundings it is easy to find an astonishing variety of wild life, deer, wood peckers, owls, red squirrel, rabbits are just a few to mention. Here is truly a place to relax, contemplate and unwind, yet it is superbly located so that all the region’s attractions can be visited with ease.

Marquay, with fresh bread daily, offers several excellent restaurants. The house, Combe-Claire, is perched atop Escamps, a hamlet of just a few houses, free from intrusion and visitor activity.
An enjoyable 15 minute drive to the south lies the medieval town of Sarlat; a similar distance to the west is Les Eyzies, the ‘capital of prehistory’, while to the north are the celebrated caves of Lascaux, where images of bison and deer, perhaps ancestors of the herd that still haunt the nearby fields, are to be seen.
Tamnies Lake, with its sandy beach and beautiful views is only 1.5 miles away.

We are a family party of six adults and stayed in Combe- Claire during June 2024. We felt well prepared with wonderfully detailed information from the owner. She was welcoming, courteous and appeared genuinely interested in our comfort. We agreed that this part of our holiday was second to none we had received before. Rosemary, the housekeeper, was equally professional and welcoming, despite the hour of our arrival.
The house itself is in a peaceful location with tranquil views but there are quiet roads leading to Sarlat, Montignac and Les Eyzies, which provide shopping, tourist attractions and restaurants. Not that we wanted to leave very often as the weather was benign and we were happy to enjoy the wonderful facilities and comforts of Combe- Claire. The house is well equipped and tastefully decorated and we were all impressed and happy there. There is an excellent boulangerie a mile or so away and we enjoyed a good lunch at the Laborderie restaurant which is nearby.
I rarely write reviews but feel quite honestly that this is the least I can do to say thank you for an excellent holiday.Guest rating:
We had a lovely time staying at Combe Claire. There were 8 people in our party (4 adults and children aged 14, 13, 12 and 11) and there was more than enough room for all of us. The house was very comfortable and well equipped. The location is a little remote but consequently very tranquil, we saw more deer in the garden than people passing by! Everyone really enjoyed the pool which is a good size and we spent a couple of the hotter days just relaxing around it. There’s also a nice large table on the patio which was great for dining outdoors and just sitting and taking in the views. Away from the house our highlights were visiting Sarlat and canoeing on the Dordogne. We actually ended up doing less sightseeing than we’d planned because we were happy to relax around the house.
As mentioned in other reviews a car is essential due to the remote location. We didn’t have any issues with the single track roads leading up to the house and the Carrefour supermarket in Sarlat was an easy 20 minute drive away.
Farah was an excellent host both before and during our trip, providing lots of helpful information and responding quickly to any questions. Rosemary the housekeeper was also very friendly and helpful, and we really appreciated not being pressured to immediately drive over and check in when our flight was delayed and we needed to visit the supermarket on the way.
All in all this was a very enjoyable holidayGuest rating:
A Fabulous Two Weeks
Had a fabulous two week stay at Combe-Claire in June/July 23. The pictures (which sold us on coming to Combe-Claire) were only a small insight into how lovely the house is and was absolutely perfect for the requirements of our party - of ages ranging from 20 to 81. Kitchen was well stocked with every utensil or pan you could wish for! The beds were also the most comfortable we've ever slept in for a holiday let and the air conditioning was a lovely addition. Managed to keep up to date with news from home on the English TV channels and never had any issues with WiFi during our stay. The pool loungers and towels made us feel like we were staying at our own private resort. We used the pool everyday (apart from on the day we left) and it was a welcome addition with the hot weather. We also took the opportunity for numerous table tennis tournaments and, whilst we didn't use them, there were also bikes provided in the games room. The house, whilst quiet and remote, was only fifteen minutes away in any direction to numerous towns or points of interest (Sarlat, Les Eyzies) and Tamnies is a fabulous area to stay in. Great little market at Saint Geniès on a Sunday where there is also a lovely little bakery which did the most amazing bread. Although we were there for two weeks, we really didn't venture too far as the house met all of our needs. All throughout from booking, to returning home, Farah was very quick to answer any questions or deal with any concerns. The housekeeper Rosemary was fabulous too. Whilst staying at Combe-Claire, we took the opportunity to arrange for local chef, Julie Harris, (recommended by Farah) to come and cook for us one evenig which was outstanding and worth every penny (or should I say euro?!) We had a lovely time, which went far too quickly and we would really love to return to Combe-Claire again in the future.
Five starsGuest rating:
We had a wonderful week for our writer's reunion at Combe Claire. We were nine adults from different parts of the world and were absolutely bowled over by the beauty of the house. It is modern, but extremely stylish in every detail and has the feel of an upscale boutique hotel. In the kitchen everything has been thought of, from canvas bags to keep your baguettes fresh overnight to every possible cooking and eating utensil you could ever hope to find!
The swimming pool with its fountain is just a perfect place for a dip, a read or an Aperol Spritz, and it is perfectly maintained too, as are the grounds, while the terrace was ideal for meals on the warm evenings. The weather during our stay was not dry every day, but even this was fortunate because it gave us the excuse to spend time inside the house in the spacious and comfortable living and dining rooms.
All five bedrooms are beautifully appointed, with extremely comfortable beds, and the master bedroom on the ground floor must be seen to be believed – a five-star room if ever there was one!
Communication with Farah and Rosemary was helpful and highly efficient, but never intrusive, and the tips for restaurants to visit and places to go were very welcome indeed. We liked the Laborderie so much that we went there for our first and last evenings, with a 20-minute digestive walk back to Combe Clare.
Otherwise we spent days visiting chateaux and Lascaux IV, canoeing on the Dordogne, discovering the amazing Rocamadour and the lovely Domme, rifling through delightful market towns, and cycling along the long, flat tracks of the area that were inhabited by France’s trains in the not so distant past.
All in all, our week’s holiday was a very welcome escape from working life and a simply brilliant way to relax and unwind. One day, after a sumptuous and very favourably-priced lunch at Le Peit Léon, we strolled through the town of Saint-Léon-sur-Vézère and sat by the banks of the gentle Vézère river, a tributary of the only slghtly less gentle Dordogne. I have rarely felt such tranquility.Guest rating:
We stayed at Combe Claire for 7 nights 17th September 2022. It really is as beautiful as it looks, everything as described, a wonderful place which is quiet and relaxing with lovely views of the countryside. We saw the Tamnies deer and could hear the Stag in the evenings. Perfectly located to explore the Dordogne and all the beautiful surrounding villages. Great communication with Farah and Rosemary who were very helpful, would highly recommend

This has been our second visit to Combe Claire in three years and it truly feels like a home away from home for us.
We had a wonderful, relaxing and hassle free holiday with plenty of time enjoyed in the pool and gorgeous garden (eating the most flavoursome hand picked figs) and cosy evenings watching our favourite movies as temperatures started to lower down.
Besides Sarlat, there are so many beautiful villages and towns to visit near to the house, such as as Montignac or Saint Cyprien with their adorable farmers markets and great little restaurants and cafes…
You will be so lucky to get to spend your holidays at this peaceful, scenery rich house.
Thanks again to Farah and Rosemary for their wonderful hospitality. We will see you againGuest rating:
The house was absolutely perfect for our two families with children from age 9 - 15. It has underfloor cooling as well as air con in the bedrooms so we kept nice and cool despite the heatwave. There is a large downstairs king room with large en suite bath and walk in shower and loo plus a separate toilet. Upstairs there are four bedrooms, on each side of the house there is a twin with ensuite with a king ensuite opposite. The swimming pool is heated and clean with a cover that goes on every night. Plenty of sun loungers and shade and the pool has a few steps in with a deep end too. Beautiful location! Quite hard to find originally but once there, it's about 10 mins along windy roads to get to the main roads to either Montignac or Sarlat. Very quiet position and in fact, probably only saw 5 cars drive past the entrance in the whole time we were there! Facilities were spot on; from cook books to reading books, board games to Netflix, Farah the owner has provided absolutely everything you could possibly need. There is also a table tennis table plus bikes to borrow if needed. Farah was an amazing host, we couldn't have asked for better communication or assistance and we hope to go back one day!Guest rating:
We just returned from a fantastic stay at Combe-Claire. Do not hesitate to book this house! It is extremely well-designed and each bedroom had its own bath (the master even had a full and half bath). There is a great table on a gravel patio looking at the pool and the hills beyond. We spent a great deal of time out there hearing only the birds and the cows. The gardens surrounding the house are gorgeous. There are a few things to be aware of but they are not cons by any means. There is nowhere in walking distance to eat or shop. There is a tiny little town called Marquay about 5 minutes away by car. They have a bar/restaurant/small store/bakery that the owner had mentioned to us. We ordered pastries from there each day that my husband would pick up each morning and order for next day. Tamnies is another close town with a delicious restaurant. The owner also recommended a local chef who prepared a fantastic meal one night. Sarlat is not too far to grab dinner occasionally. If you want a lovely quiet place to stay and do not mind driving a little for meals and supplies, I cannot imagine a better place. St. Leon sur Vezere is also a fairly close and adorable town with several good places to eat.Guest rating:
Recently stayed in the beautiful villa Coombe Claire with my family, both the villa and settings were stunning. Each room is very spacious and decorated to a very high standard, they also have their own en suite so each couple had their own privacy. The swimming pool is beautifully clean. One of the nearest towns Sarlat is like taking a step back to medieval times, they also have markets on Saturday and Wednesdays that are definitely worth a visit. Lots of very pretty places to visit within a 30 min drive. Farah and Rosemary were also very informative and helped with any questions that we had. Would definitely recommend a visit to this beautiful place.

Combe-Claire was everything we had hoped for and more.
We had an amazing time, the space is wonderful, comfortable and cosy inside, well looked after and with all the mods-cons required for adults or families alike. Each room provides it’s own en suite with superbly comfortable and well dressed beds and a fully equipped kitchen.
The outside, pool and gardens of Combe-Claire are beautiful. Copious amounts of fresh fruit (apples, figs, pears) are available on the trees, fantastic rosemary and tomatoes were also grown on the vegetable patch whilst we were there and we even caught a few of the last summer fresh lilac flowers.
The gardens are an absolute treat at this quiet, private and grand house, even hanging your laundry becomes a pleasure.
The pool is warm, large and additionally the ping pong table in the garage provided many hours of fun too. 15 mins away from the beautiful historical town of Sarlat and close to supermarkets and boulangeries for daily fresh bread.
We have stayed in several beautiful places in France before and this one without a doubt is the one we will be looking forward to return the most.
Farah was a first class host, attentive, responsive and generous and Rosemary, the property manager, made sure we felt well at home since the moment we arrived.
Thanks a lot for your wonderful hospitality.Guest rating:
Upon arrival we were thrilled to find that the villa and surrounding grounds were exactly as described. A well equipped kitchen, inviting living room, air conditioned large bedrooms (all with en-suite bathrooms), heated private pool, and gorgeous grounds made for a wonderful week in The Dordogne. We enjoyed the tastefully decorated house which had comfortable seating areas inside and out. Farah, the owner and her property manager provided excellent detailed information about the property’s many fine attributes. All enjoyed our time together as we explored various towns and restaurants recommended by Farah. We looked forward to returning each night to our grand accommodations. Look no further for the perfect villa awaits you here.

We booked Combe-Claire as a birthday trip the Dordogne. We were travelling as 2 sets of families with children 8-12 and the house appeared to offer ample space and comfort with a pool larger than most. The photos and the reviews made this the ideal choice.
We were not disappointed! The house was immaculate and extremely well appointed. The pool was lovely, with loungers and pool towels provided. The photos show the poolside to be grassed, but it was paved which was a bonus. The garden was huge, with fruit trees and raspberries aplenty! Right from the initial booking, the owner, Farah kept in touch. She gave us lots of information about the house and surrounding areas of interest. As we were driving from the UK, Farah gave us directions to Combe-Claire, which was really helpful.
On arrival, we met Rosemary, the property manager. She was friendly, helpful and available if needed. We had midweek cleaner, gardener and pool maintenance. All of whom were polite and unobtrusive.
The cleaning staff also came on the Saturday for changeover clean – that was an opportunity for us to visit Sarlat market. Note, leave early so you can find parking, unless you have an electric car which you can charge whilst shopping. (There are plenty of charging points where you can also park conveniently!) Combe-Claire is in a small hamlet of seven houses. The area of Tamnies, Marquay, Le Petit Salignac, and other little villages is very peaceful, yet only 15-20 minutes from everywhere. We visited many of the places that Farah recommended. La Borderie restaurant in Tamnies village is worth a visit although not for fussy vegetarians & fussy children. The location is a perfect base to explore & experience the Dordogne with plenty to do & see for both children & adults.
The house itself has everything you could need – a real home from home with a luxury feel. Would we return? Absolutely.

Combe-Claire is the perfect family vacation venue. Way better than the photos which are pretty awesome already. The house is brilliantly designed and outfitted with everything that you will need. Think of it and it is already there. Large rooms with stylish decor with a personal touch. Great bedrooms, a more than ample kitchen with every appliance and gadget known to man, an amazing swimming pool to welcome you back at the end of a day touring the Dordogne castles and beautiful countryside, a separate game room with ping pong and lots of other kid-friendly activities. A beautiful setting with views that go on forever. Perfect for relaxed dinners and barbecues on the patio overlooking the pool. Know that you will be away from the tourist bustle (a big plus) but still only a 15-minute drive to Sarlat for any food shopping you might need to do and just a little more to the magical caves at Lascaux which is a must. A very good restaurant just as few minutes up the rood complete with kids' menu. Farah is a great and charming host who will give you tons of information on things to do and see and answer any questions you might have. A 6-star rating if such a thing exists.Guest rating:
Everything about this property is first class and first rate. The house is beautifully designed and exquisitely furnished. It has everything you could possibly need, from a large pool surrounded by stylish lounge chairs, to a separate game room complete with ping pong table, air-conditioning in every bedroom (which turned out to be a welcome and necessary perk), beautiful grounds with unbroken vistas, every electronic device you can imagine, wi-if that actually works with no delays and much, much more. A perfect home for a family vacation. We had four adults and two children and there was room to spare. Inside and out, the house is even better than the listed pictures. Though it feels like you are in the middle of the peaceful countryside (a plus for us), you are only a 15-minute drive from Sarlat and the nearest supermarkets and easy driving distance to the special sights of the Dordogne. Farrah is a wonderful host who provides you with lots of helpful tips and advice and Rosemary, the property manager, was always available the few times we needed her. A wonderful place for a family vacation in the beautiful Dordogne.

I have just returned from the most enjoyable family holiday ever. In all we were 5 adults and 5 children ranging from the ages of 2 to 75 and there was definitely something for all of us at Combe-Claire. The grown ups had the pleasure of watching the little ones enjoying the freedom of playing safely in the garden and pool area while we relaxed in this beautifully furnished, spacious and well equipped house.
From the moment I made the booking Farah, the owner, was extremely helpful and so keen to make sure all would be as we wanted. On arrival Rosemary, the housekeeper, took over making sure we were comfortable and 'at home'. The information she passed on was very useful for the days when we were able to drag the children and certain grown ups away from the pool in order to find fun things to do elsewhere. There were no shortages of these and all within 15 to 30 minutes by car. Just one disappointment - one week wasn't long enough to fit in all there was on offer and on arrival back in the UK one of my family immediately booked a two week stay in Combe-Claire for next year. What more can I say? That in itself says it all!Guest rating:
We were 5 couples and feel fortunate to have found Combe-Claire. It is better than advertised and Farah, the owner, could not be more welcoming or accommodating. Our only regret is that we stayed only one week and not two. The house is well located and a wonderful place to relax after a day of touring. Farah recommended a caterer, Julie Harris, who cooked us a lovely meal including the most creative cheese board we had ever seen. All in all it was the perfect spot, and I hope that we can return.Guest rating:
The property is in a really lovely peaceful location ideal for a family get together! There is everything you need in the house and the pool is an extra bonus. Would definitely recommend it.
The owner could not have been more helpful and Rosemary the local contact was lovely and so helpful with recommendations etc

As two families of 5 we visited Combe-Claire in the summer months. The house is spacious and very comfortable. We were struck by the beautiful, tasteful decor as well as the quality of all equipment/ furnishings etc. The setting was fabulous and the garden and pool area wonderful for all ages. We rarely left the property all week as we were so fortunate with warm sunny weather. However, unlike many properties in France, it would have been lovely to also stay over during cooler temperatures as the interior of the house was so beautiful. We had a wonderful holiday and would thoroughly recommend to all groups. Farah was a fabulous host with prompt and helpful communication. We would love to return.

Accommodation was very clean and as described. Everything you could possibly want is available. Local Manager very helpful and nothing too much trouble.
The kitchen is well equipped even down to the coffee machine. Wonderful location with lovely views over the rolling countryside.

We arrived from a week in the Charente to a lovely warm welcome from host, Farah, who made us immediately at home in her stylish, contemporary, yet traditional house in this secluded part of the Dordogne. With first class suites (5 doubles/twins) and facilities (air con, heated pool, games room, bikes and a lovely kitchen to cater in-house), yet less than a mile from the superb Hotel Laborderie with its extremely reasonable restaurant (€29 for a three course menu du terroir which we succumbed to twice in a week)! Farah kindly booked other events/dining and gave us the best tips for the area. We loved the lake (Étang de Tamniés) at the bottom of the village where, even in late September, there were complimentary changing rooms and showers and a chance for tame water swimming! There were seven of us, two couples and 3 singles and we had the most fabulous time, mainly thanks to the stylish design and location of the property and Farah's light touch in steering us to the best places to visit. We enjoyed Lascaux (20,000 year old cave paintings), the pretty riverside village St. Leon sur Vezere (a 20 minute car journey / one hours bike ride), Marquay across the valley for the daily morning croissants (don't be late), Sarlat on markeGuest rating:
We have rented several villas across Europe for family vacations and this is one of our very favourites. The house is beautiful and of very high quality, the location is private and in the middle of glorious countryside, with rolling hills and big skies all around, the pool is heated and a delight, and the owner, Farah, is extremely responsive and proactive with advice, help and support on all matters. Close to Sarlat and its markets is also a real plus. AC in all bedrooms, all of which also have ensuite bathrooms. The kitchen is very well provisioned, with a BBQ grill also for enjoyment, Our boys also enjoyed playing table tennis on the table in the garage. Overall a superb stay...we may be back and would recommend without reservation.

Combe-Claire is a home from home set in beautiful countryside. We have been staying in French villas and holiday homes, from the Loire to Cote d’Azur, for the last 10 years and this was without doubt the best we have experienced. We had a fantastic family holiday with 4 adults and 5 children all comfortably accommodated. The WiFi worked perfectly which is a great improvement on most places we have visited and is becoming an essential as the children get older.
The layout reflected the amount of thought which has gone into making this the perfect place for a relaxing holiday. We live in a bespoke built house, however we learnt numerous new tricks should we ever build another.
Food is an important part of being in France so we enjoyed using both the high quality barbeque and the kitchen which had every thing we would be using at home; we never had to work around .
Pool was well tended and the children loved the fountain, with a 3 year old in the party we thought the solid electric cover was a great improvement over alarms or fences.
We liked the relative isolation, however there were a couple of towns within 15/20 minutes drive and the restaurant in the next village was excellent. In a week we visited about a third of the places we had noted for exploration. The region has plenty to occupy all ages from the Grotto to High Wires and more restaurants than you could ever visit whilst there was always the option of staying at ‘home’ to relax in luxury.
The only issue we had the whole time was due to the weather, the first evening the sun was still very hot and we noticed a lack of sun canopies by the outside table compared to the number of bases. We contacted Farah by email, she responded immediately, and the next morning she turned up with two large boxes containing very high quality, and large, canopies.
We would thoroughly recommend Combe-Claire for a large family but it would be the perfect getaway as a couple.Guest rating:
A bientôt.

Combe-Claire is perfect. Well equipped - lacked for nothing - immaculate throughout. We received a warm welcome from the housekeeper who explained everything to us. Set in rolling countryside away from other properties but within close proximity to famous beauty spots. The pool was large and well maintained - the table tennis room a bonus. We enjoyed a memorable family holiday, making full use of the pool during the day and table tennis tournaments during the evening - not everyone was enthusiastic about the table tennis. Had wonderful BBQs on the terrace, washed down by wine, whilst looking out over the beautiful countryside. The local hotel was very good but it was more relaxing at 'home'. Evenings to remember. Especially my birthday party (do you celebrate turning 70). A night drinking champagne, surprise birthday cake and an impromptu entertainment from the 'girls'. Visited the nearby lake - the grandchildren loved the inflatables - Sarlat is a must to visit and and La-Roque-Gageac truly amazing. Enjoyed delicious meals in both towns. A truly memorable holiday spent with the family. We would definitely recommend this property to our friends.

The property was exactly as we remembered it after a visit a little under 6 years ago, when there were only 8 of us, the number has increased to 12 but still ample room for everyone. Beautiful decor and soft furnishings throughout. There is nothing in the kitchen that you will not be able to find. Farah is a wonderful host so friendly and warm, she answered every question promptly. This time we also met Rosemary the housekeeper as when we arrived the fridge door was not closing and she was waiting for it to be sorted. All sorted in a matter of minutes. A clean mid stay by the housekeeping team we had forgotten about but what a lovely surprise. Every amenity in the bathroom taken care of. Toilet rolls, toilet cleaner, bath cleaner, no need to bring anything with you except your toiletries. The same in the kitchen. Beautiful soft smelling towels and pristine tea towels. Would definitely recommend to all.

Just to say thank you for a wonderful week in your beautiful house. We have all greatly enjoyed our time here your home is truly warm & welcoming with great attention to detail & comfort. From the initial enquiry to our departure everything was seamless easy & well organised. The house was beautifully clean on arrival. Instructions on how to operate the pool cover & cleaning robot, heating, air conditioning, white goods were all sent in advance so we knew what to expect on arrival. The directions to the property were excellent. Indeed our every need was catered for. We were a party of 6 ranging in age from 6 months to 90 years everyone had a fabulous time. The kitchen was extremely well equipped the bedrooms & bathrooms were luxurious with beautiful bed linen & towels & the beds were supremely comfortable. We paid extra for the pool heating & the temperature was perfect & enabled our Grandson 6 months to use it every day. We hope to return but would maybe wait a few years as we felt the extra wide stone staircase my be a problem with toddlers.

We were five couples looking for five bedrooms, five bathrooms, enough space to gather and socialize but also enough space to find privacy and quiet time and Combe-Claire provided all of that in a perfect country setting. The house is very well designed and beautifully and comfortably decorated, the kitchen modern and well-equipped. Half our group enjoyed the amazing cycling in the area (very little traffic, even if a little hilly), others savored the walking or the pool (heated to a bit cooler temperature than some prefer, but for others it was perfect). The nearby support staff were attentive and extra house-keeping was available for us to hire to complete the vacation experience. Farah's restaurant and sight-seeing recommendations were wonderful: perfect vacation for all of us!

This is a beautiful house, very spacious and very well designed so plenty of space even for a large group. The house has everything you could possibly need and is very tastefully furnished. The grounds are also spacious and the whole property is maintained to a very high standard. Everyone we met who looks after the house was exceptionally friendly and helpful and keen to make sure that we had a great holiday. The property is ideally situated for exploring all the tourist highlights of the Dordogne, but we also enjoyed spending time relaxing around the magnificent pool or dining on the terrace, admiring the spectacular views. We had a lovely meal at the nearby Hotel Laborderie on our final evening.

This villa is a vacationers dream. We spent two weeks here and cannot say enough about it. The rooms are lovely and well-appointed, the property is expansive with fruit trees and a small garden. We were even able to harvest tomatoes and raspberries plus figs enough for several excellent desserts. The area around is delightful to visit and I satisfied a life-long dream to visit the Lascaux Caves. I cannot say enough about the lovely home and the ease with which we were able to rent it. Customer service and communication were perfect.

A truly elegant home. We recently returned from a week at this truly beautiful home which is every bit as advertised in the photos you see. The owner is a lovely woman who obviously cares a lot about her property and when you stay there, you feel like you are in someone's home rather than just an ordinary rental. The house is ideally situated in the Dordogne near many of the sites you'd want to visit. Or, if you'd like to stay in more, the house and grounds are spacious and elegant and you'd be just fine doing nothing but admiring the gorgeous views. I cannot recommend this property enough!Guest rating:

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Combe-Claire. We are four couples from North Carolina who had traveled together. The house was perfect for our type of arrangement as it provided the private space that we all need (5 bedrooms, each with own bath) while offering fantastic common areas. The kitchen, the dining room, and the spacious living room all served as gathering places in the mornings and evenings. We ate dinner out only two of the seven nights that we were at Combe-Claire. Generally, we had larger lunches. At dinner time, we set a formal table and enjoyed beautiful salads and ‘cold plates’ of local cheeses, fruit, and sausages from the many Perigord food options available at the local markets and supermarkets. We found a local boulangerie where we purchased our breakfast pastries and baguettes in the morning. We used the herbs from Farah’s garden and cut roses and other flowers for the table centerpiece as well as other spots downstairs. We and hired a guide for three days. We spent one entire day visiting several of the caves including Lascaux II. Threatening rain and cool weather altered a planned a canoe trip to visit Beynac, La Roque, and Domme; however, they were just as wonderful by car. A trip to the Pech Merle cave was combined with a visit to Rocamadour. Sarlat (market day Saturday and Wednesday), Bergerac, and Perigueux are places we enjoyed, along with a stop in St. Emilion on our way from Bordeaux. One of our favorite places was a visit to Chateau Lacypierre (10th-century mansion) near Sarlat. We were given a tour inside by the wonderful, knowledgeable owner who had been involved in the restoration. The 80+-year-old couple still lives in the restored home. We ate lunch out every day; half of the time we just stopped at a place that looked interesting and half with reservations. Our favorite restaurants were Le Vieux Logis Restaurant in Tremolat and Restaurant Labordier, in Tamnies. Combe-Claire was an ideal location to tour the Dordogne. Almost all of the sites were just a little over an hour drive away. We paid extra for heating the pool and for a mid-week cleaning, all very worth it in my opinion. Unseasonably cool weather prevented extended time outside; however, we spent time outside enjoying the sunsets and grilling on the new gas grill. Farah went out of her way to make sure that everything was perfect and was only a text away when we had questions. I would certainly recommend this house to anyone.

Combe Claire quickly became a real "home away from home" for the two weeks we were there. Somehow it managed to absorb comfortably our tribe of 12 (!) high-energy individuals of literally all ages. Family members had most fun congregating for various poolside and other activities, while at the same time, there is enough space for individual quiet-time. Combe Claire is attractive, comfortable, well appointed, situated such that one could feel "in the middle of nowhere" with most beautiful views and surroundings, while actually being but a short drive from the main attractions of the region. The owner is most minded and attentive to guests' needs and requirements and is a pleasure to deal with. We will surely return some day soon.

Combe Clair is an absolutely beautiful house - we were staying with an extended family group including our children and our grandchild and we all loved it. Everything is beautiful - carefully chosen and immaculately clean and it has to be the best house we have ever stayed in. We all enjoyed the pool and the children particularly loved the table tennis. The road to the villa is quite narrow and windy but there is very little traffic and the surrounding countryside is stunning.

We've just returned from a week at Combe Claire and the house played a very big part in an amazing holiday that surpassed our expectations. Others have commented on how well appointed the house is, how thoughtfully it is prepared and how beautiful it is, in addition, we found it a very tranquil base that was well located to explore Perigord. While Sarlat is beautiful & worth a couple of visits, our absolute favourite day out was to Domme, the town is beautiful and the L'Esplanade restaurant was a real treat. We look forward to enjoying this piece of luxury again.

We visited Combe Claire for 2 weeks in August. Two families of 4 with children ranging from 2 - 11, looking for a peaceful summer retreat, good quality accommodation and suitably located to explore the Dordogne. Both families were delighted both with the quality and cleanliness of accommodation and the peaceful location within the Dordogne. The property is perfectly set up to accommodate 2 families with separate bedroom and bathroom facilities. The lounge is spacious and comfortable while the kitchen and dining facilities were good. Outside, the pool was excellent, table tennis (in the outdoor building) was very popular, while the elevated and south facing position provided for beautiful views and all day sunshine. Sundowners by the pool with the sun setting over the woods to the West was the best part of the day by far! Tamnies is off the beaten track so peaceful. It is also not so far from many of the key attractions and sights within the Dordogne; for us a perfect location. Main shopping was at Sarlat 20 mins away. Restaurant, (Logis de France 3*) called Labordier, in Tamnies just 5 mins drive was very reliable and served good quality food and wine. In summary, excellent, couldn't have asked for more and has now become our second home from home in the Dordogne! What more can I say?Guest rating:
