Le Maine Neuf; what a super place to stay! We were 3 generations, grand parents to grand children. The 3 adult couples each had an en-suite bedroom and the children had a room each for boys and girls (both rooms with beds to spare). The kitchen has everything you could possibly need, including 2 large fridges and a freezer. All linen and towels are provided, including swimming towels. David and Tina are excellent hosts and a font of information about the locality; nothing was too much trouble. The children enjoyed visiting the chickens and collecting eggs As several reviews say, the photos don’t do the house full justice. The kitchen and indoor living areas are very spacious but we were mainly on the large shaded terrace, with space for everyone to eat and a bench that’s great for catching some rays. The beds are all very comfortable and the whole house very well equipped, even down to having lovely hand soap and shower products provided. The fenced off 10 metre swimming pool is always in full sun with plenty of loungers and parasols. Beside the pool is a boules / petanque terrain which we all enjoyed using in the evenings. The whole place is very peaceful and in a beautiful setting. The nearby village, Corme Royal, has all immedGuest rating:
This is a truly wonderful gite hosted by David & Tina. It was our 3rd visit. The house is brilliantly well equipped inside and out (kitchen, heated pool, BBQ, pingpong table, games etc). Kids adored the pool and feeding the chickens and walking Elvis the dog (who does not get into the gite garden or gite itself). Tina and David are wonderful hosts, providing excellent local advice and supplying fresh eggs and veg from their garden. We enjoyed trips to the beach, shopping in Mornac, and kayaking/swimming at Pont d'Envaux. Saintes Saturday market is brilliant as is the Corme Royal Thursday market (fish, cheese, veg). Oyster man on a Sunday. Lovely meal in Les Acacias too. Fantastic seafood platter sourced at l'Eguille sur Seudre. Great biking area. Chateaus within range. Just a fantastic, relaxing place to recharge your batteries. I am sure we'll be back! Elaine & family.

Tina and David were exemplary hosts who went out of their way to ensure we had the best holiday. They could not have been more helpful and kept us well stocked with their chickens eggs, homemade jams and delicious garden veggies! The beautiful gite is clean, spacious, very comfortably furnished and has the most lovely large, shaded patio area to eat on. The large garden and fabulous sunny pool area overlook fields of sunflowers. There is a great table tennis table. Tina and David have excellent local knowledge and advised on places to visit - even taking us to a local local vineyard to stock up (we recommend trying the local Pineau!) Theres plenty to do for all ages, including good beaches about 30 minutes drive away. And the nearby city of Saintes has lots of great places to eat out. We were holidaying as two families with 5 teenagers between us and found the gite space to suit us perfectly. Would highly recommend this gite to any larger party of people - truly wonderful gite and hosts!Guest rating:
This is a lovely, spacious property, ideal for a large family holiday, set in the beautiful French country side. It is extremely well equipped, it has everything you could possibly need from a cooking point of view and had high chairs, cots etc The swimming pool is superb : warm, clean, and has lots of sun loungers and parasols. It is fenced off and secure. The garden is large with fruit trees and safe space to play, its over-looked by a stunning field of sun flowers. The owners, who live on site, were perfect hosts - they couldn't have been more engaging and did not bother us unless we called on them. On the occasions we asked, they were very fast to react, knowledgable about the area and lovely in their approach. On a morning Tina asked the children to help her feeding the hens - we were rewarded with lots of eggs ? There is lots of wildlife to see, Deer, Red-squirrels, and birds:Cirl Buntings, Kites, Orioles, Storks and Owls - We had a great time birding. The village has a good butchers & bakery and the Pizza Van sells delicious pizzas All in all we had a lovely time, the holiday will stay in our memories for a very long time - the experience was absolutely enhanced by the very generous hosts.Guest rating:
We have just returned from a great holiday in Le Maine Neuf. A beautiful property (nicer than photos), with an amazing pool. Not too far from the great beaches around Royan, we made the most of the great weather. The standard of accommodation is very high and it is well equipped. Tina and David are great hosts- with wine on arrival and ingredients for an apple crumble from the trees in the garden. We would definitely return.Guest rating:
We have just returned from a fabulous week at le Maine Neuf. We shared the house with my husband's cousin and his family. It is extremely roomy, very well appointed and beautifully kept. Tina and David have thought of everything, even including fans for all the rooms. They were extremely generous hosts, providing examples of local wines and cheeses on our arrival, and very helpful with all our queries. The kitchen was complete with everything you could need for cooking, which was a real delight. The children loved it there - the pool was a huge hit, as was the pin pong but they also loved collecting eggs with Tina and just playing in the gorgeous garden. The adults loved sitting outside on balmy nights under the sail cloth awning and drinking in the sunset (and some wine :)) over the field of sunflowers. The location is excellent - not far from Saintes (great market) and also not far from the coast and Isle D'Oleron. We also enjoyed biking in the beautiful countryside and kayaking at Pont E'Envoux (which also has a sand pit and contained swimming area in the river), plus a wonderful family meal in the Acacias restaurant in the local village. We created some fantastic family memories there and really hope we can come back one day.Guest rating:
We just wanted to say how much we enjoyed our holiday at le Maine Neuf. The whole family had a fantastic and relaxing time. The house was so well presented and equipped and it was a perfect layout that meant we all had our own space which was great. Good luck with the improvements over the winter season and who knows we may be back sometime.

We stayed here in August 2016 for 2 weeks and had an amazing holiday. The farmhouse is situated in beautiful surroundings and very tastefully decorated. It is clean and spacious, even for the 12 person maximum capacity and has everything you could need on holiday, from towels (bath/beach) to toiletries and table tennis to board games. The owners are extremely friendly, helpful and always happy to offer advice on where to go and visit and willing to book tables at restaurants for us. Our youngest daughter loved feeding and collecting eggs from the chickens. The whole family also loved splashing around in the gorgeous swimming pool that we had to ourselves which was great! This was definitely a holiday we shall never forget - thank you Tina & David! We will definitely be back!!Guest rating:
We had a family holiday here in August 2015 and had the best time. The owners are friendly and couldn't do enough to make sure our stay was one to remember for all the right reasons. The accommodation is spacious and clean, with fresh linen and towels provided, kitchen fully equipped with everything you would need, just like a home. The children loved the swimming pool and were in it day and night. The grandparents enjoyed cooking and relaxing by the pool watching on and sometimes joining in. Fresh eggs from the chickens which the children loved watching. Plenty to do both locally inland and further afield by the beautiful grand cote. This was one of our best family holidays and we would love to visit again.Guest rating:
We rent properties in Spain every year for our family holidays, but this year we decided to try France, and luckily we found this property. The pictures really don't do this property justice, the fixtures and fittings are beautiful, the gardens are very large and the heated swimming pool is the icing on the cake. The surrounding countryside provides all the peace and quiet you could possibly need. Don't hesitate in booking this property, the lovely owners, David and Tina, made sure that this was one of the best holidays we have ever had! Thank you Rob, Wendy, and familyGuest rating:
Our party of 12 have just returned from a wonderful holiday at this beautiful house. It looks good in the pictures, but is even better in reality. The accommodation is spacious, well designed and very well equipped. The garden and pool are fantastic - plenty of room for adults, teenagers and children to do their own thing in peace, or join together for huge group games of petanque or cricket! Peaceful and quiet location, but loads to do locally (Saintes, Rochefort, La Rochelle and Royan). Very helpful and friendly owners. Our friends (who normally do all-inclusive holidays) have been converted to villa holidays now! We would definitely return to this house one day, and would not hesitate to recommend it.
