Charming, converted stable located in one of the most spectacular wine producing valleys in the South West of France.
Tauzinat is not only ideally placed to explore the village of Saint-Emilion, its vineyards and landscapes, but it is also only a short distance from Bordeaux, the Dordogne and the sandy beaches of the Atlantic coast.
Tauzinat is a beautifully, converted stable adjoining the owner's residence. It is a self contained three bedroomed gite that provides spacious and relaxing accommodation. The house can sleep up to six people. Whilst there is only the one gite available, it can be separated and, depending on the time of year, booked as a one bedroom.
Accommodation comprises:
- 3 double bedrooms: the master en suite is off the living room; to the upper landing there is a dog leg stairway. Two further bedrooms can be found on a mezzanine level.
- 2 shower rooms with WC
- Separate WC
- Well-equipped modern fitted kitchen (dishwasher, electric hob/oven, microwave oven, washing machine, fridge/freezer compartment)
- Lounge (TV, DVD)
Outside
Garden with private southwest facing terrace. Furniture includes outside dining table and chairs, barbecue and loungers.
Additional Features
- Free WIFI Internet access
- Sheets and towels provided
- Non-smoking
- No animals allowed
- Be aware of the presence of stairways
Tauzinat has a lovely open outlook surrounded by fields and woodland, ideal for walkers and cyclists (local maps provided).
If you like wine the area is surrounded with Chateaux giving you the opportunity for wine tasting and buying direct from producers. Other Bordeaux vineyards like those of Sauternes or Médoc provide even more opportunities to taste fine wines.
A small walk (about 1km) will bring you to the village of St Christophe des Bardes. Here you will find a local Tabac and Auberge.
Only 4km away is Saint-Emilion, the jewel of the crown in the region. Here you can take the opportunity to discover its medieval streets, its heritage, its traditions as well as visit exhibitions and attend local fetes. There is a wide range of cafes, shops and restaurants where you can enjoy superb meals at reasonable prices.
Every day there is a local market - Libourne and Sainte Foy La Grande being two of the favourite markets with the French.
The cultural city of Bordeaux is less than an hour by car or train (train station at Saint-Emilion) where you can enjoy its wonderful architecture and its french cuisine.
The Dordogne is only a short drive away with Bergerac being a favourite to visit.
Arcachon, famous for its sandy beaches and Europe's largest sand dunes at Pyla, and Cap Ferret, famous for its scrumptious seafood and oyster beds, are both within easy driving distance.

We have just spent a wonderful two weeks at gite Tauzinet! The gite is beautiful and spotlessly clean and has lovely outside areas over looking the vineyards. The location is great for exploring the area . We enjoyed swimming in the local lake and river and kayaking. We also really enjoyed visiting beautiful Bordeaux, Arcachon and Cap Ferret and the very close by St Emilion. Carolynn and Pascal were wonderful hosts. We hope to return in the future and would absolutely recommend the property for a magical holiday.Guest rating:
The peaceful location was super, surrounded by vineyards a short walk (30 minutes) into St Emilion with lots of wonderful nearby wine chateaux to visit. The gite was spotless and very well equipped with great outside space. Carolyn was an excellent host, very helpful and friendly. We had a fabulous few days at Tauzinat and would not hesitate to recommend it.Guest rating:
I am so happy, actually delighted, that I found Tauzinat! With more than 15 years of holidaying in France in gites , I have to say this is the best ever! The location, the layout of the gite, the facilities, the local area..St Emilion is only 4 kms away. Such a high standard of cleaning and facilities , it was delightful. We were a party of six and never felt that the gite or gardens were not big enough. There are so many different places to relax both inside and out. We had fantastic local walks through the most lovely landscape. Carolyn is there if you need her and she made our holiday so much more special when she gave us local information that enabled us to join locals at an open chateau weekend...it was amazing, and then she arranged a private wine tasting just across the road...it was excellent again. I cannot recommend Tauzinat highly enough..we will be back again next year for sure. Go and enjoy ! Thank you Carolyn..thank you so much from all of usGuest rating:
We had a wonderful week here. The Gite is situated in beautiful surroundings overlooking vineyards and is well placed for St Emilion (a lovely walk through vineyards), local markets, wine tastings and country walks. The Gite is spotless and has everything you need including a beautiful garden for enjoying the sun and views. Carolyn is an excellent host.Guest rating:
Great stay, well located near St Emilion. Easy to travel by train to Bordeaux, sncf railway station at 2 km. Very well renovated gite, modern kitchen and bathrooms, beautiful surroundings in vineyards. Hiking trails and walking paths in close proximity, great to do bike rides as well. We did walks through vineyards and neighbouring villages with great scenic views
Guest rating:
Excellent welcome from the owners. Gite with views over the vineyards very quiet and relaxing Very beautiful renovation of the gite, tastefully decorated. We didn't lack anything. Very clean and comfortable cottage for a family of 5 people. A lot of documentation for the activities / visits to be carried out in the surroundings and the Region. It's very appreciable.

Carolyn and Pascal are wonderful hosts and we had a wonderful stay at their lovely gite. The gite is in an excellent location, just 4km from St Emilion. The property was very clean and ideal for our needs and was far better than any other property we have stayed in when we have visited France in the past. The quality of the property and the fixtures and fittings was excellent. I have no hesitation in recommending this property to anyone who wants to visit the area and we would definitely stay in the property again if we visit the area.Guest rating:
This visit was as good as the previous two. This time mum and I were joined by me sister & brother in law and we stayed a fortnight. There is little to add other than the gite is just as clean and sparkly, we still have no problem finding things to do and new places to explore. Carolyn and Pascal were as helpful as ever. I really cant recommend this gite highly enough.Guest rating:
We had a lovely family holiday in august 2017 enjoying the local food markets, walking amongst the vines, cooling down with a swim in the lakes or sampling the wine in one of the numerous chateau in the area. The pretty town of St Emillion was within walking distance and Bordeaux an easy train journey away.
The gite was immaculate and very well appointed which made it easy to relax spending time sitting in the sun enjoying the peace of the countryside and Carolyn the perfect host.
