A 3 bedroom traditional, village house in a small village near to Saintes in the Charente-Maritime in France. Accommodation comprises:
Downstairs
The rooms are on slightly different levels with steps.
- The traditional kitchen / dining room has a beautiful old wood-burning stove and an old farmhouse table with chairs to seat 6 plus a high chair. Sink, work surfaces with cupboards beneath, a gas (bottled) oven with 4 gas rings. We provide saucepans and a toaster. There is a fridge with freezer compartment and a large sideboard containing plenty of simple white crockery.
There are two sitting rooms:
- Main sitting room has two comfortable sofas plus a matching chair, a coffee table, telephone, mini Hi-Fi , book shelves with plenty of books and chest of drawers for storing children's games. Wood-burning stove. This sitting room has a window and a door leading out to the garden.
- Second sitting room at the front of the house has a click-clack sofa and a comfy day-bed, a great place for a siesta on a hot afternoon. There is also a small, bistro style table and two upright chairs and a coffee table. Windows and a door leading out to the road in front of the house. Extra guests can be accommodated here but this must be arranged in advance with the owner.
- Downstairs shower room with W.C. washbasin, heated towel rail and washing machine.
- Small lobby with storage space for iron and ironing board, hooks to hang coats and a cupboard for the vacuum cleaner and cleaning materials.
Upstairs
- Main bedroom, this is large and newly refurbished. King size bed, chest of drawers, wardrobe and a table with two wicker chairs. If required there is room for the travel cot in this room.
- 2 Single bedrooms, each bedroom contains one single bed, a bedside table, a chest of drawers, a chair and hooks and hangers to hang clothes.
On the landing there is a hanging rail and plenty of hangers.
- Shower room with wash basin and W.C. Heated towel rail.
Outside
There is a courtyard and small garden next to the house with a shady pergola, grass, shrubs and flowers. A gate in the hedge leads to our barn and a bigger more secluded garden. This has a large grassed area and hedges around. Both gardens are completely fenced. We have tables and chairs for al fresco meals and sunshades.
Garage is used for storage. There are 3 adult bicycles which our guests are welcome to use.
There are sandy beaches just 30 minutes away by car.
The house is in the heart of a small friendly village in the countryside surrounded by fields of sunflowers and vines. There are sandy beaches within a 30 minute drive, and the larger towns of Saintes, La Rochelle and Cognac have their own attractions and are well worth a visit. For children there is an outdoor swimming pool at Gémozac, an adventure park at Pons, and a tree adventure park at St Georges de Didonne.

The nearest ferry port is Saint Malo and it is an easy 5 hour drive from there.
