The gite makes a perfect hideaway for a romantic break or a luxurious self-catering holiday for a family of up to 6 people.
The private drive leads to the gite, and beyond to a barn, in front of which is ample parking. The property offers very spacious open plan living. It is well appointed and comprises:
- A fully equipped kitchen and dining area with seating for up to eight persons. There is a gas oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, washing machine/dryer, a larder cupboard with general store cupboard ingredients, iron, and ironing board.
- The large comfortable lounge has views of the beautiful garden and pool area. There are two 3 seater sofas, armchairs and occasional tables with lamps, large flat screen satellite TV (English), DVD, video, stereo CD player, WiFi access, games, and books. In the lounge, for the cooler winter months, there is a Woodburning stove. There is also a library of over 150 DVDs with all the latest films. Patio doors from the lounge open to the pool area.
Also from the lounge, there is a staircase going down to 3 double bedrooms:
- The master bedroom has king size bed with side tables and lamps. There are French doors opening on to a secluded private garden with views to Monclar and the surrounding hills.
- A large bathroom with walk-in shower/wet room, WC and wash hand basin.
- Two further bedrooms, each with twin beds.
Bed linen and towels are provided, but not pool towels.
Outside
There is a charcoal barbecue with tools etc. Sun loungers, tables and brollies. We offer a tranquil setting ideal for relaxation. The private pool is refreshing on a hot summer day and the surrounding terrace is perfect for relaxing and sunbathing. A table tennis table is provided for your enjoyment.
Within a short drive of the gite, you can enjoy some of the pretty Bastide villages such as Monpazier, Eymet, Monflanquin, visiting their squares and Chateaux and weekly markets with wonderful displays of the local produce. This is a region rich in flavour, with many restaurants. Situated in the South West of France the area is renowned for its outstanding beauty, history, and cultural heritage, as well as it superior wines and culinary delights. Only 10 minutes drive away you can paddle a canoe down the river, take part in vineyard tours and visit different farmers markets every day of the week. You can also hire bicycles on a daily basis in the village at reasonable rates.
We are Helen and Peter and we will meet and greet you upon your Saturday arrival. We moved here 16 years ago in 2002 to get out of the rat race. Peter likes a bit of DIY and pottering in the garden and growing our own veggies. Helen loves to cook and bake. We have two lovely cats called Indiana Jones and Baby Dumpling.
Situated in a rural location in the heart of the Lot et Garonne near the ancient Bastide village of Monclar d'Agenais.
Lot-et-Garonne (department 47), is just south of the Dordogne and is still a well-guarded secret with historic towns and villages, and breathtaking countryside. In July this department is a mass of bright yellow as the sunflower crop, grown for vegetable oil, matures. The region also produces a large amount of tobacco, much of which was until recently processed locally at Tonneins. Finally, of course, many acres are devoted to vineyards, producing excellent wines and plum orchards which produce the famous pruneaux d'Agen. Also, this area is famous for its foie gras!
This beautiful region of south-west France has much to offer. Lot-et-Garonne is named after its two principal rivers. The Garonne is one of the major rivers in France, running from the Pyrenees (where it has its source in Spain) to the Atlantic at Bordeaux. The Lot rises in the Massif Central and flows through some spectacular gorges and some of the most beautiful scenery in France to join the Garonne north-west of Agen.
