In the heart of the Midi-Pyrénées region of south-west France lies a rare gem. Le Moulin, originally a 13th century water mill, is now a charming, luxury villa available as a holiday rental all year round. This exclusive hideaway sleeps up to 10 guests with private pool and the River Célé running through its magnificent grounds and gardens.
Le Moulin is nestled in 15 acres of mature gardens and meadowland, encompassed by high limestone cliffs giving it a surreal quality of 'other worldliness'. One feels protected, nurtured and rooted by these cliffs in a way which can only be experienced first-hand.
Guests will find their natural pace to float around the flower filled gardens, calming river bank and terraces, and are encouraged to enjoy the flow of activities as they present themselves: croquet, lawn tennis, archery, trout fishing, table tennis, canoeing or swimming in the cool clear waters of the Célé.
Due to ongoing building work over the next twelve months, this means that we will not be taking bookings for this year. However, should you wish to make a reservation for 2023, please visit our website for rates and reservation.
We are looking forward to welcoming you to Le Moulin sur Célé.
Many thanks,
Deirdre McGlone
Le Moulin sits proudly on the banks of the river Célé in its own valley known locally as ‘La Vallée du Paradis’. Surrounding the property is the dramatic National Park of Causses du Quercy, an area covering 185,000 hectres and boasting some of the most beautiful countryside in all of Europe.
The Célé valley evokes a feeling of wild mystery; castles on the cliffs and ancient landmarks wait to be discovered only minutes from Le Moulin. The gentle flow of the Célé river, running through the eastern end of the property, has provided a sheltered, bountiful environment teeming with wildlife for thousands of years. Our early neighbours even had the time to paint magnificent limestone cave images at Pech Merle, dating back to 25,000 BC and only a 15 minute drive down the Célé valley.
Le Moulin is nestled in 15 acres of mature gardens and meadowland, encompassed by high limestone cliffs giving it a surreal quality of ‘other worldliness’. One feels protected, nurtured and rooted by these cliffs in a way which can only be experienced first-hand. Beauty, nature, fun and relaxation are the only qualities that become relevant within minutes of arrival.

How to get to Le Moulin sur Célé
By Air - Toulouse (Blagnac) is the closest major airport. It is a very small but efficient International airport due to Airbus being based in Toulouse. It is served three times a day (morning, midday and evening) by British Airways
from Heathrow Terminal 5. EasyJet from Gatwick also flies three times a day (morning, midday and evening).
There is a very good and simple hire car set up at Toulouse airport. To be on the safe side, book one when you book your flight, however they generally seem to have availability. Both collection and drop off of hire cars is very straight forward and well-staffed.
Driving from Toulouse Airport - The drive is between 1hr 45mins - 2hrs. GPS is obviously recommended.
Be sure you have the correct Saint Sulpice (not the one in Northern France).
We have registered ‘Le Moulin Sur Célé’ on Google Maps. With the house name entered, it takes you down the drive and to the front door.
By Train from Toulouse-Matabiau - There is a direct, fast service from Toulouse Matabiau (central train) station to Figeac Station.
It takes 2hrs 15mins and is hourly throughout the day, however please check for updates on SNCF: https://en.oui.sncf/en/#/
Figeac is a 20 minute drive from Le Moulin along the valley. You can get a taxi at the station. Toulouse Central is a 20 minute taxi from Toulouse airport or there is a bus/shuttle service.
Chauffeur Transfer - We can also arrange a chauffeur transfer, picking up at Toulouse Airport and dropping off to Le Moulin.

Absolutely magical stay at La moulin sur cele. An idyllic setting made for total escapism. Deirdre and Marc were amazing hosts nothing was too much trouble. The villa itself is 5 star rating. Everything was perfect down to beautiful linen and comfortable beds. Have already booked for next year loved this place.
Guest rating:
This is a truly amazing place; half of me wants everybody to know about it and half of me wants to keep it a secret... Deirdre and her family are clearly passionate about their stunning property and go above and beyond to make your experience as relaxing and non-intrusive as possible. Everything has been thought through and it's extremely well appointed. Really couldn't fault anything.
Guest rating:
When it comes to describing our holiday at Le Moulin, superlatives abound. From the homely charm of the interior to the beautifully maintained grounds; from relaxing by the babbling river to competing in an exciting game of tennis; from lazing by the glistening pool by day to gazing at the twinkling stars by night, our stay was a truly wonderful experience. Le Moulin offered something special to every member of our family and has given us many amazing memories to keep us going through the long winter nights ahead. It was beyond idyllic!
Guest rating:
Incredible character, facilities, river access. Beautiful pool, grass tennis court, croquet lawn, archery. Plus private access to the Cele river with canoes and fishing. Close to the amazing rock art caves at Peche Merle, and various lovely villages in the area. Monica and Patrick looked after us brilliantly.
Guest rating:
Great pool, fantastic to have private access to the river. Amazing also to have private lawn tennis court and croquet!
Guest rating:
Truly magical location - stunning cliffs and wooded hills surround ancient millhouse situated on banks of the river Cele. It's almost impossible to leave - reading a book in one of the hammocks next to the river, kayaking or paddling (to personal preference) on hot days (the house has its own patch of 'beach' and several canoes), sipping a gin and tonic while playing a competitive game of croquet, early morning tennis, swimming in the walled garden of a pool breathing in lavender and rose blossom... Comfortable beds and pretty interiors, all mod con and 2 sitting rooms (in different houses - ideal for multi parties) meant everyone had space, but we could all get together for fabulous and fun meals. Wonderful staff were unbelievably helpful and the owners are clearly passionate about the place. Unbeatable destination.
