We spent an idyllic two weeks in the peaceful valley of this beautiful old farmhouse. It was cosy and comfortable...lovely beds!
The situation is perfect for exploring the Dordogne, within easy reach of wonderful medieval villages and chateaux. You can walk right from the door into wooded countryside with a lovely restaurant in a nearby village. The house is well equipped with every attention to detail. We spent some time relaxing by the swimming pool and feasting on fresh figs. Highly recommended!

We have just had two fantastic weeks here. The house is spacious, with a traditional feel but is very well equipped with everything you could possibly need. The utility room and second storage room are so useful. The outside space is the real selling point. The west facing terrace has beautiful views of the valley below and there is a second, shaded table which is perfect for al fresco dining when it gets very hot, as it did when we were staying. The pool is great, well maintained and has plenty of natural shade, again very useful as the temperature was nudging 40 degrees at times. The owner was very helpful and kept in touch before and during the stay with advice on the house and local area which was very welcome. The house is in a quiet, rural area but just a few minutes drive from many of the main attractions. We are very glad we chose Chez Nous for our holiday.Guest rating:
We had a really lovely week in Chez Nous. Beautiful pool that kept us cool in the heat. House very well equipped and comfortable and lots of information provided. Fantastic view over the valley and very quiet road. Perfectly positioned to explode Dordogne towns, the local area and rivers. All in all a perfect family holiday. Thank you Anne-KarenGuest rating:
We really had a wonderful holiday in Chez nous. The house is beautifully situated, quietly surrounded by nature, and yet many sights and towns in the area (car). The house is fully equipped and has excellent beds. The pool is wonderful! In short, we had a great week!Guest rating:
This house at this location was a party. Fully equipped, a lovely swimming pool, beautiful villages in the area, beautiful nature, lots of space in the house and wonderful beds! Recommended. We regretted that we only booked 1 week.

Our stay at "Chez Nous" was wonderful in every way. The house offers not only all comfort but also has different places for sun and shade to enjoy the location, the beautiful surroundings and the view. Within a few minutes' drive you have all the shops you need and a canoe trip on the Dordogne can be reserved "around the corner". The communication and coordination with the owner and her contact person on site is very personal, which also gives a familiar feeling.

We look back more than satisfied on our stay at Chez Nous. A nice place to stay 2 weeks. A safe spacious garden, very suitable to take a dog and a nice base from which to make many trips in the beautiful Perigord Noir. The house, very spacious and attractive. A combination of French simplicity and Dutch conveniences such as a very complete kitchen, a beautiful new bathroom, a comfortable seating area and many seating areas around the house, so there was always a suitable shade to find a nice place to read or have a nice meal. glass of wine. A pleasantly peaceful environment and a wide view of the valley from the terrace. We found the adequate and cordial communication with homeowner Anne-Karen van der Grinten before, during and even after our stay and the contact person on site to allow us to be our guests and very welcome. Everything was arranged to perfection. Everything had been thought of. Thank you again.

I stayed at Chez Nous in August for two weeks, what a charming house, full of character. The rooms are spacious and the dining room light and airy, the kitchen is fully kitted out with essentials .... ie coffee machine and oven, the utility room has a washing machine and convective oven there really isn’t anything that you will be left wanting , the WiFi is quick and reaches onto the patio at the back of the house. We were spent most of the time on the patio after lighting the stone built bar b que ... gorgeous place to sit and let the evening wash over you. The swimming pool was the main focus of the time we spent when at the house , lovely to cool off on those hot humid days. The roads around the area are very quiet so I spent a lot of time walking on them and exploring , lots of Forrest areas behind the house and I even came across a little grass strip airfield and watched a few micro lights and aircraft landing and taking off.
The bakery in town is 10mins drive away of course essential when in France . All in all a lovely place to spend a holiday. I could go on and on but that would spoil the essence of adventure this house offers ....
Anne-Karen has left lots of literature inside the house on things to do but it’s easy enough with the internet to map out the time you will spend here .Guest rating:
First of all, this property is in a perfect location; in the heart of the beautiful Dordogne region but nicely just off the beaten track to be away from hoards of tourists. The idyllic French countryside with its small restaurants, boulangeries and tranquil walks can be enjoyed to the maximum. Secondly, the house is exactly as described in the website - it has all the facilities a family or group could want and everything works. There were no surprises (not always the case in strange places). The house has nice old-world French charm while still having all the modern conveniences. It is in a very nice position with wonderful ambience and nice rural views. it is well suited to outdoor living as well as being very comfortable inside. We enjoyed aperitifs round the pool most nights before moving to the terrace for dinner while enjoying the views. Because the house was so nice we tended to eat out at restaurants for lunch in order to enjoy the local cuisine but we mostly catered for ourselves in the evening and so we could enjoy a bottle of wine without having to drive back. Dordogne speaks for itself regarding places to go but the Lascaux Caves are a must. Book Chez Nous, Paleyrac - you won't be disappointed.Guest rating:
Chez nous’ was was an ideal choice for our stay in the Dordogne, together with our (grown-up) children. Very characteristic, cosy house, tastefully decorated, and favourably situated for the discovery of a gorgeous region with prehistoric caves, medieval towns and villages that justifiably belong to the category of the “the most beautiful villages of France.” Of course the nice swimming-pool was an extra asset for our ‘children’, whereas my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the heavenly tranquility! Highly recommended for anyone who wishes to visit the region in a comfortable, yet authentic way!

Away from it all, booked last minute! What a good and adequate service. Everything was arranged for us quickly. We received all very complete info about the house by email. Glorious anticipation!
Our trip happened without a hitch and the house was easy to find. It turned out to be even more beautiful than in the pictures. A very beautiful authentic farm, well renovated and magnificently situated on the edge of a valley. Surrounded by woods and nice little villages that were very much worth the trouble to explore. The house is well-equipped and decorated tastefully and comfortably. We used the swimming-pool a few times, even though it was quite cold already. We enjoyed the splendid view from the pool and the roofed terrace, where we could sit outside with a glass of wine, enjoying the sunset. The house is very spacious with a cosy living, large kitchen, various bedrooms with good beds and sufficient bathroom fixtures. The surroundings are nice and peaceful, so no noise at night. Our English Springer Spaniels had the time of their lives. They could run around free everywhere and we went for many fair walks from the house.
We visited beautiful towns with merry markets and there are various castles and gardens on view in the surroundings. Nice restaurants with delicious dishes completed the days. We enjoyed it very much and will certainly return, but then a little longer because it was really worth our while. We recommend a visit to ‘Chez Nous’ to everyone.

We had such a lovely time in your house. It is truly at a beautiful location in fantastic surroundings. It is wonderful to stay in the house; it has a very cosy and nice characteristic atmosphere. Our dogs also immensely enjoyed the freedom they had in these peaceful surroundings. That included being able to play with one of the neighbour’s dogs down the road. Certainly highly recommended for those who would like to have a wonderful holiday in the Dordogne.

Having returned to the Netherlands a few weeks ago we fondly look back on a great vacation. Together with our four children (10-15 yrs) we chose Chez Nous because of the photos and description of the house, the space, the view, the swimming-pool and the surroundings. The yard with the beautiful house, the old stables and shed, and the swimming-pool, under a couple of old trees and decorated with luxurious flowerpots, has a special character. There is a lot of space, inside as well as outside. The immediate surroundings are beautiful for long walks. You walk straight into nature, and through beautiful old villages. You see one pretty picture after another. The house itself is also well-kept. The living-room in particular is very comfortably and tastefully decorated, fitting with the atmosphere of the house and has a beautiful view of the valley.
There is a lot to be done in the region, to each his own. We visited various little towns and canooed. We also vistited a kind of theme park ( acombination of fair, playground and swimming-pool): Jacqou Parc, near Le Bugue, nice until about 12 years old. But mainly we lazed the days away, reading books and swimming in the wonderful pool. In particular the elder children found the Wifi (more often than not) below par. They do often want to update their social media extensively. But we understood that better Wifi is being worked on. Furthermore the house was very clean, and the linen service is fine, which saves a lot of luggage and hassle. Highly recommended!

We had a wonderful vacation in “Chez Nous”! The house is spacious and beautifully situated, very quiet surrounded by magnificent woods and villages, and still close to the numerous sights to be seen. With the swimming-pool, the nice activities and impressive villages, caves, castles and prehistoric sites it was the ideal holiday for us and the four kids! We had very beautiful walks from the house! And had very nice dinners, cosy little restaurants in all price ranges, and very friendly and easy-going for the kids.

We enjoyed this beautiful authentic farm very much! What beautiful surroundings! We spotted many nice animals during one of the many wonderful walks with our dogs in the surroundings. Little foxes, deer in the valley, pheasants and partridges along the path. Really great! A private swimming-pool with a view of the valley also was one of our favourite spots. A really great place to enjoy the evening sun after a refreshing dip in the pool with a glass of wine. The aquarium park and the caves of Maxange are certainly worth a visit! We would love to come back another time!

A perfect start of the holiday! A very authentic house with character and immediately a feeling of homecoming. We stayed here with our family for a week and we enjoyed the scenery and the wonderful swimming-pool. Beautiful nature and a lovely view from the pool into the valley. A lot of privacy. We will certainly return one day.

A wonderful old house, comfortably refurbished! We were there with two families and we had a terribly good time. The swimming-pool is great, so are the villages in the neighbourhood and the children found the caves and castles very exciting. TOP!

Thank you for a wonderful, relaxing holiday! So many things to explore, too much for just a week, will have to return. Highlights: 1. Grottes de Maxanges – amazing and very close by. 2. Jardins Suspendus des Marqueysac, loved it so much we went twice, once during the day and then returned to the candlelit jazz playing Thursday evening. 3. Castlenaud, visited on a really hot day, inside was wonderfully cool. Breath-taking views and terrifying sheer drops 4. Market in Perigeux: went early in the morning to see the fruit, veg en produce. Worth the early start. Great for photos. Lunch in the square. 5. Supper out at Belves, Le Home, very friendly staff and very tasty range of food. 6. 26 km canoeing trip: Canoe Eric, le Bugue. Started at Le Moustier. Saw 4 Kingfishers on the last stretch. House very comfortable + peaceful. Pool quite bracing but an invigorating cool down at the end of a hot day. Thanks for a lovely stay. Perfect for 2 adults, 3x17 year olds+ a 9 year old. p.s. Forgot to mention the lovely walks too! Robert, Catherine, Tom, Kate, Ben+MeesaGuest rating:
Thank you for a wonderful 2 weeks stay at Chez Nous. We have only just started to explore the beautiful Dordogne and wil definitely be back. A perfect family holiday :).Highlights have been….1. Les Jardins suspendus de Marquessac. Only 1/2 hour drive we visited twice for evening picnic and candlelit walks round the gardens listening to jazz and hunting for dragons with the children. The 2nd time we were lucky enough to be able to watch the 15th August firework display across the valley in Beynac, magical!2. Grottes de Maxange: how wonderful to have such special caves on the doorstep. Much the best of the Grottes we visited.3. Beynac Castle, Chateau de L’Herm and Chateau de Puy Martin are all very different and all a great day out.4. A really wonderful 2 weeks. Think the house is fantastic Else, so lovely and full of character. Weather almost always perfect. Only a couple of wet days and the rumble of thunder/shower of rain across the whole 2 weeks.Highlights:Belvès: stumbled across it but very glad we did. Gorgeous and unspoilt. Looking lovely with decorations ready for the medieval festival. Fantastic pizzeria with a great view over the valley. Homemade with huge selection of toppings. Ice cream to wonder about with, available in the market square.Canoeing: we decided to 'go mad' and do a fairly long trip (25 km) down the Vézère. Took a few hours but worth it. Girls had a ball! Hilarious, beautiful and interesting. Didn't see another soul for miles, but did see 20 kingfishers, stunning.I skip some of their tips in favor of comments on the house, please include:BBQ: fantastic! Almost every night so relaxing and great way to watch the sun go down.POOL: wonderful! Tempted (? Can't read it) to plonk ourselves out there mid-afternoon onwards into BBQ time as sun strong until late.WILDLIFE: seen couple of large grass snakes, mice, lizards and beautiful butterflies.Hope this helps others enjoy this fabulous place and thanks again Else!!Guest rating:
