Beautifully Restored Quercy Farmhouse Gite with pool and now with Wifi
This lovely 18th century stone farmhouse has been carefully restored to a high standard, at the same time keeping a cool and spacious farmhouse atmosphere.
Vieux Mirou is in the Tarn-et-Garonne department of South West France, and in an ideal situation to explore this most beautiful of regions. There are the famous three rivers, the Tarn, the Lot and the Garonne, and the Dordogne of course, all different and each spectacular in their own ways. There are many Chateaux, some for exploring and some for wine tasting. There are also lots of Bastide towns clinging to the tops of hills, with fantastic views, and their history of the 100 years wars, many being on the pilgrim routes to Santiago de Compostella. Even older historical interest is in the caves where our ancestors lived and drew their animal pictures. The rivers form this wonderful rolling countryside and give the fertile soil for fruit, wheat, maize, lavender and sunflowers, and leave the lovely white stone of the Quercy Blanc region.
Altogether Vieux Mirou is in one of the most beautiful, tranquil and unspoilt areas of France.

The area around Vieux Mirou is rich in natural beauty, natural history and actual history: Within sight of Vieux Mirou is the silver dome at the top of Penne d'Agenais where Richard I (Lionheart) of England built defences in the 12th Century. There is evidence of Roman occupation at Villeneuve sur Lot and Cahors and a few miles north of Cahors are the world famous cave paintings of Lascaux.
To the south is are the impressive towns of Montauban with its amazing rose coloured brickwork, and Moissac with the UNESCO world heritage site at the Abbey and Cloisters.
To the north of the river Lot there are two impressive castles, Biron and Bonaguil, both a good visit, and onward to the pretty medieval bastide towns of Villereal, Monflanquin and Issigeac.
The River Lot is within a few miles, with plenty of opportunity for water based activities, or if you fancy a day at the beach there are leisure lakes (Base de Loisir) at Montaigu de Quercy and Montcuq among others which have safe lifeguard swimming, a range of activities and restaurants or bars.
From Vieux Mirou the view is over fields, and the area around has a very large number of different crops growing: besides the usual cereal and sunflower crops you will find a range of soft fruit, walnuts, hazelnuts, melons and other vegetables. Many of these go direct to local markets where you can buy the freshest and most delicious produce direct from the producer to make the finest meals. A guide to the local markets is readily available.
If you are in France, there must be wine! And there is.... Within 5 miles you are into the depths of the Cahors AOC wine growing region with many producers offering tastings and direct sales - and some sell diret at the markets as well.
And for something completely different..... please search Le Stelsia - a colourful vibrant park on the outskirts of Saint Sylvestre sur Lot - Manicured grounds to wander in, and a restaurant of repute to dine in, and within 5 miles (7km) of Vieux Mirou.
