Roquebrun (Herault)
Roquebrun is a beautiful hillside village located in the Languedoc National Park in Hérault in the Languedoc Roussillon region of France. It is one of the 'hidden gems' in the area, rivalling the more famous Olargues, considered to be on of the most beautiful villages in France. Its mild micro-climate enables it to grow oranges and lemons and produce some of the best St Chinian AOC wines.
The village has a stunning location on a bend in the River Orb. It has a popular river beach with a shallow area suitable for children. During the summer it is a major base for canoeing on the river with opportunities for to canoe down the rapids in Orb valley from Espinouse Mountains down to Reals where there is a regional canoe/kayak competition course. The mild climate also sustains an attractive Mediterranean style garden on the side of a the mountain (fee payable)
