2 Acres of Gardens and Heated Pool in a Picturesque Village with Popular Bar/Restaurant.
Normally you have to choose either a village location or a large property in France. But with La Cure you can have both. You can sit under the fruit and oak trees in the large gardens, swim in the pool (heated between June and September), have a game on our private boules court and then walk 100m to the local restaurant for lunch. It's only 15 minutes to the beautiful medieval town of Loches which has a food and wine market twice a week, or 40 minutes to chateaux like Chenonceau and Villandry or to vineyards of Chinon and Borgueil.
The property of La Cure gives exclusive use of both Les Roses (a grand 4.5 bedroom manor house) and La Lavande (a 2 bedroom cottage). They are right next to each other (joined by a 1 metre wide stone wall) and have been stylishly furnished to provide a fabulous blend of old and new. They have massive oak beams, antique tiled floors, delightful bedrooms and glorious church views. The property's two acres have fruit trees, gardens of roses and a large pool with a massive teak deck which is heated between June and September. Both the house and the cottage have antique dining tables inside and large wooden tables outside for alfresco dining under the oak trees. La Cure is the perfect property for large groups, giving everyone their own privacy, but also having great common areas for eating and drinking together.
Special "takeaways" of french meals can be arranged from local restaurants should you wish to eat at home without having to cook. There is a full description of each of Les Roses and La Lavande below.
The owners have made this property a special place to holiday. Some examples of small touches you won't find in most rental properties:
- Lovely freshly ironed cotton sheets on all beautifully comfortable beds
- A helpful and knowledgeable caretaker who lives offsite
- Traditional petanque (boules) court perfect for afternoon games with a bottle of champagne
- Recent Conde Naste and Vanity Fair magazines to browse
- Picnic basket, cool box and picnic rug
- Herb garden for guests' use
- Lots of children's toys and books
- Shelves of great novels and guide books
- A fully fenced 2 acre property for children's safety
There are 8 good quality adults bikes (4 with baby seats), 4 children's bikes of varying sizes and a number of small trikes. The property is perfect for children to ride around safely (and to learn to ride) and there are numerous great rides nearby (suggested routes are provided). The 12th century grange has a pool table, darts and table football. Pets are not permitted at the property.
The village has a popular bar/restaurant, magnificent church and a street of troglodyte houses.
Les Roses is an impressive 4.5 bedroom house consisting of two separate wings built around a central kitchen. There is no access between the wings upstairs (you need to come downstairs, cross two rooms and go back uptsairs in the other wing) which is excellent for privacy in big groups.

The property is in a picturesque village which has a popular bar/restaurant and providore, street of troglodyte houses and a beautiful 12th century church.
There is a food market each Monday in a village 5 minutes away and twice a week in the beautiful medieval town of Loches (15 minute drive).
There is a wonderful restaurant (regarded as one of the best in the Loire and about half the price of it's equivalent in Paris) 10 minutes away. There are also lots of great local bar/restaurants in surrounding villages.
There are many lovely picnic spots nearby.
Many of the most beautiful chateaux of the Loire Valley such as Chenonceau, Villandry and Azay le Rideau are no more than 40 minutes from La Cure. Less well known, but just as impressive, is Loches, a picturesque medieval town complete with chateau. Only a 15 minute drive from the property, it hosts a colourful and lively food and flower market twice a week.
The wine areas of Chinon, Samur, Vouvray and Borgueil are all within an easy hour's drive of La Lavande.
The lovely city of Tours (described by Lonely Planet as a "mini Paris") is 45 minutes north of La Lavande. About the same distance away is the atmospheric town of Chinon.
The owners have spent many hours exploring their part of the Loire and have plenty of ‘inside knowledge’ they’d like to share with their guests. They've prepared notes to help you enjoy experiences which could easily be missed in a short stay.

As planned we made our second visit to La Cure – same time one year later …for another 70th..!! All ten of us…(each a year older) picked up, seamlessly, where we left off last year…and it was a joy to be back - we all slotted straight back in, an indication of how accommodating this property is. Highlights this year – numerous visits to Loches for the market / lunches and meals in the evenings. Amboise for the Sunday market - a must followed by the Chateaux and a visit to Leonardo museum / Château du Clos Lucé – something for all ages..!! We were again blessed with the weather – constant mid 20’s and the pool was a constant hit for days in or even after day trips out to various Chateaux…including, this year, Chenonceau (visit this one if it’s your only one).. Morning croissant run to Ligueil and trips by bike / car to surrounding villages – we found a couple of additional good restaurants in Le Grand Pressigny, a lovely village..!! Also managed to get to the local restaurant, Le Saint Mande…very relaxed and good value.. Kris and Amanda were on hand as ever, prior to and during our stay – thanks again. Grandchildren moving schools puts next years visit in doubt…but we are all working on how we can make another trip…Guest rating:
If you’re looking for a beautiful French house in a stunning, quiet location then this is it! After a long drive we arrived to two bottles of wine, a loaf of bread and cheese in the fridge. We were a family of 8, joined by an extra 2 people at the end of our week and we had more than enough space. Both properties have everything you could possibly need and we had some lovely, home cooked meals and ate outside under the walnut tree. The garden is enormous and full of fruit trees. The kids couldn’t stay out of the pool but when they needed a break they made use of the games barn. We used the bikes supplied by the property a few times and on one occasion cycled to a local farm to buy the best goats cheese. We loved sitting in the garden at sunset watching bats flying over the garden and listening to the owls. You have to eat at the local restaurant in the village as the food is fabulous and excellent value. Kris and Amanda were so kind and answered emails and messages promptly. We will definitely be back!Guest rating:
...wowed from the outset..
Our complete family of 10 took both properties to celebrate the eldest’s 70th birthday..(youngest - eighteen months). The houses have separate areas and ‘wings’ allowing families / groups their own areas and facilities.
We were wowed from the outset, the grounds are extensive and laid out beautifully – with large areas of grass for ball games..also small areas of seclusion. Both of the houses are of traditional French farmhouse style with quirky beamed ceilings and some interesting, tasteful chic additions. Kitchen facilities are comprehensive and there was everything we needed.
We were very fortunate with the weather – a constant high twenties (with only one storm) and we were all able to eat together outdoors, everyone made good use of the amazing pool area and facilities.
The children loved the ‘games barn’ and indoor ‘play room’..in addition to the pétanque court. The numerous bikes (which are modern, safe and in good condition) were well used.
The village is delightful and surrounded by other attractive villages and towns where we found all of the provisions we needed – particularly the wonderful, traditional French market at Loches (along with Chateaux / museum etc). Further afield there are superb Chateaux - we particularly enjoyed Amboise and the Leonardo museum / Château du Clos Lucé.
Kris and Amanda were ever helpful with planning and approachable during our stay – we have booked for the whole family to return next year – for another 70th.Guest rating:
Our trip to La Cure was delayed due to the COVID 19 pandemic but it was absolutely worth the wait. We rented the whole property for a week in late August 2022. 11 of us in total (4 families) with an age range of 6 to 66! The house sits in beautiful grounds and the swimming pool is an absolute dream. Heated to a very comfortable 29 degrees so even though the weather was changeable on a couple of days we still managed to have a dip. We didn't stray far, as the house was all that we needed. Swimming, games of cricket and petanque, long lazy lunches under the walnut tree followed by an evening BBQ. We did venture out and eat in the local restaurant, Le Saint Mande, on our last night. The food was lovely and very reasonable. We have been renting holiday homes in France for over 10 years and this is the loveliest house we have rented. Kris was very patient with my never-ending booking amendments and returned our deposit very quickly. Amanda, the manager in France, was very helpful too. We just wish we could have stayed longer. We will certainly return.Guest rating:
We were a group of 6 (3 couples) and rented both properties but La Cure could easily accommodate more. We were enchanted by this magical place. The interior is beautiful– not grand or formal but comfortable and designed with taste and style. The kitchens are well equipped and a pleasure to cook in and the bedrooms charming (watch your head on the beams though). The garden is wonderful – we were blessed with lovely weather and spent as much time as we could in it. There are different tables to sit at, depending on the position of the sun and your mood, a barn full of games – darts, snooker, table football – and a petanque court, all among beautiful, mature trees and shrubs. The pool was bracing, but we all swam every day and loved having it. In a very few days we had all relaxed into La Cure’s peace and beauty and could have happily stayed much, much longer than the week we had booked. Very highly recommended.Guest rating:
We had an amazing week in Ferriere-Larcon. Our party consisted of 6 teenagers and 6 adults, the eldest just shy of her 80th birthday. We all had ample space to enjoy ourselves, spending time running, walking, cycling (with the bikes on site - fantastic plus!) and playing tennis on the nearby tennis courts in Paulmy (3km away) which was in a picturesque park where the locals fish. We were also able to cycle to two nearby chateau's. The pool was fabulous and well used, as was the pétanque area which we played on each evening whilst sipping our pink cremant :) The house is spacious and had everything that we needed, the outdoor eating area under the trees is beautiful and was the epicentre of our evening meals. We had such a lovely time here that despite intentions of eating out we only did so once, as it was so lovely at the house and the produce that we bought locally meant that we could prepare our own delicious food and relax by the pool or play pétanque or chat over our meal in the lovely garden. Kris was friendly and prompt in her correspondence and our booking process was easy and professional. Our deposit was paid back very quickly without a fuss. We hope that we can come back again.Guest rating:
To celebrate my signficant birthday, myself and my sister and good friends stayed at Les Roses for two glorious weeks. The property is beautifully appointed, with so many charming decorative French features to admire. The grounds are extensive, with an array of delightful terraces to choose from. The village is stunning for its architecture, including the church, and its history. The local cafe/bar/restaurant serves delicious meals and is the hub of the village. The location is perfect, being close to great markets (Loches market is twice weekly and sensational), boulangeries, cheese farms and an amazing restuarant in the next village. Short journeys by car take you to the best of the region's chateaux inlcuding Villandry, Chenonceau and d'Azay-le-Rideau. The guest rooms are all lovely - beautifully decorated and really comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped and easily accommodates cooking for feasts of the local produce. I thoroughly recommend this property, and will cherish all the wonderful memories experienced there.Guest rating:
We had an incredible holiday and can't recommend it highly enough. The accommodation is perfect for families of all ages with ample living spaces, extremely well equipped kitchen, a beautiful well-kept garden and fabulous pool. The nearby village is delightful and the restaurant is delicious, excellent value and only a short stroll away. The beds are incredibly comfortable with plenty of towels and I love that there is a washing machine and an outdoor clothes line! Amanda is a fabulous host and there is ample information available about things to do and see in the area. The bikes are an added bonus and we really enjoyed cycling into a nearby village to visit the patisserie and buy our fresh fruit and the most delicious tomatoes. Evening boules with a locally purchased rose was a highlight, as was a long lunch in the garden under the oak tree. With so many things to do nearby, make sure you stay long enough to relax by the pool. We can't wait to book in for next year!Guest rating:

Fifteen members of an extended family spent a week at both properties from late July to early August 2017. This place is a gem. All the photos and descriptions on the website are very accurate. The houses are very spacious and are well stocked. Plenty of room to escape for some quiet time. The accommodation is located in the centre of an attractive and peaceful village and the surrounding farming countryside is delightful. There are attractive villages with markets not far away and there are some very good restaurants to choose from in the area including the local bar/cafe. Highly recommend La Promenade at Le Petit Pressigny for an excellent dining experience. The local manager has a wealth of knowledge and suggestions. We spent most of the time enjoying the comforts of the property including the pool with its many sun lounges, boules court and games room. We enjoyed sitting out at the very large dining table in the garden til late in the evening. I highly recommend this place for groups of friends or large families. You will not be disappointed.

This property is exceptional. The house is a large, traditional country home in a small Village. The house has separate wings giving lots of space for families or couples. It is very well appointed and stocked. There is nothing you could want for. The outdoor areas are beautiful including the pool, property itself and outbuildings (barn turned into games room). Amanda, the property manager was helpful and responsive. The property is situated in the southern Loire region and is within an easy drive to fabulous markets, chateaux, wine regions and interesting small cities such as Loches or Amboise. From the house, there are walks and trails, some taking you past troglodyte homes. We have been to France many times but this home in this location tops them all. A marvelous authentic French experience.
Guest rating:
My stay was memorable and special - it far exceeded my expectations. First, the properties are beautiful and charming. They have been decked out with love and care and style. The gardens are huge, which I did not expect, and I had no sense of where the land finished and the next property began. The pool was a treat as well as adventures around the property finding a well, a cave and firewood. The local village is charming but my favorite thing was sitting in the garden, under the trees and relaxing in the old world charm of this wonderful place.Guest rating:
We had a wonderful relaxing family holiday at Les Roses and La Lavande, which we occupied in August. Both properties catered brilliantly for the three generations (9 months to 65 years) that made up our group. Apart from the fact that we all had privacy, as each part of the family had a separate wing or house; the heated pool and expanse of gardens really made it an idyllic escape from our day to day lives. Most of our evenings were spent cooking and eating together in one group as the kitchen and dining area of Les Roses were more than ample to cope with our needs. When staying here with children, don't forget to hunt for the tree-house! La Cure is perfectly positioned to explore part of the Loire Valley and wherever we went, we knew a comfortable home and luxurious beds awaited us at the end of each day.
