Provencale Farmhouse with Large Pool & Panoramic Views
A 19th century farmhouse restored to the highest standards and tastefully furnished. The large pool enjoys panoramic views over the Cevenne Mountains, (World Heritage site). Anduze is 30 miles north west of Nimes. Within easy reach of the mountains, historic cities, and attractions, the Mediterranean is an hour’s drive.
Mas de la Tourette is comfortable and architecturally interesting. The pool is on a raised olive terrace with a large pool-house and barbecue for open air meals. The shaded courtyard offers quiet relaxation. Excellent local markets, good walking country, cycling, river swimming, tennis, riding.
Accommodation is arranged as follows:
Ground floor
- Generous kitchen/dining room (5.8 x 8 metres) - a real cook’s kitchen with elegant dining area. New, well equipped kitchen including gas/electric 5 hob cooker, fridge/freezer, bread maker, ice cream maker, full compliment of chef’s knives and crockery. In the dining there is a large dining table, chandelier, marble fireplace, large comfy sofa, chair, TV and video. French windows to courtyard.
- Utility room - with washing machine, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, iron and board, storage, and central heating boiler.
- Sitting room (5 x 3.5 metres) - with wood beams, large open fireplace with wood burning stove, two sofas, two chairs. DVD, video, telephone, open fire, central heating, childrens books, videos and games.
- Study - WiFi access, videos and DVDs, books, desk.
- Wine Cave - wine vats and bins
- Shower room - WC, washbasin and large shower, Tramezzino marble tiling.
First floor
This floor is bright and spacious
- Bedroom 1 - Master bedroom (6 x 3.5m) with king sized bed, air conditioner, balcony, table and seating
- Bedroom 2 (4.5 x 4m) - super king bed and air conditioner
- Bathroom 1 - bath, shower, WC. washbasin, marble tiling
- Mezzanine bedroom - queen sized bed, private sitting room on upper level (popular with children, but low beam on mezzanine is not suitable for tall people)
- Bedroom 4 (4 x 4m) - twin beds which can be configured together
- Bathroom 2 - bath, WC, washbasin, mosaic tiles.
Outside
- Covered terrace with rocking chair.
- Large private swimming pool (13 x 5m), large pool house (6 x 4m) with dining table, barbecue, loungers, distant panoramic views
- Enclosed, shaded courtyard with mature trees, swinging seat, old fig tree, ancient well (covered and gated).
- Shaded parking area in gravel with large iron gates, (lockable).
- Surrounding area, five acres of grass farmland, old south facing olive terraces with low stone walls, farmland beyond.
The villages of Boisset et Gaujac and Baggard with its excellent bakery and shops are both nearby. The Medieval town of Anduze with its fortified tower, river and dramatic rocks is less than ten minutes drive. Here there are cafes, restaurants, shops, bank and one of the best open markets in the region.
Staying at Mas de la Tourette offers a wide choice of holiday activities;
- Anduze is the ’gateway to the Cevenne’ and is an ideal base to explore the magnificent walks of the Cevenne National Park, which is now a site of world environmental importance.
- A steam train from Anduze runs along the Gardon valley to St. Jean du Gard during the season.
- Follow the trail of Robert Louis Stevenson’s ‘Travels with a Donkey’.
- The Mediterranean with its long sandy beaches is about an hour’s drive.
- So too are the ancient cities of Uzes, Montpellier, Nimes, Avignon and further afield, Arles where there are festivals and concerts throughout the summer. These cities have excellent galleries, museums and restaurants as well as some of the best preserved Roman buildings in the world.
- Popular days out include the dramatic canyons of the Gorges du Tran, the bulls, white horses and flamingos at the Carmargue National Park, or a swim in the river under the Pont to Gard.

How to get to Mas de La Tourette
Mas de la Tourette is 45 minutes drive from Nimes airport (services from Stanstead); one hour from Montpellier (Gatwick) and less than two hours from Marseilles (Gatwick and Heathrow).
Alternatively, the TGV at Avignon is an hour away.
