Beautiful Village House with Swimming Pool.
As featured in The Sunday Times and The Daily Telegraph in 2021!
Delightful house in the heart of a charming Languedoc village. La Bastide is comfortable and welcoming and equipped to a very high standard. It is perfect for people wanting to experience real French living. Stunning views. Lovely pool and enclosed garden.
La Bastide nestles in a tranquil corner but is only a couple of minutes away from the village square with friendly bar and shops. There is plenty to see and do in the area, but should you fancy a quiet day at the house and pool, everything you need is available in Maraussan.
It is the perfect spot to chill out with a locally produced aperitif on the terrace and enjoy the views over the terracotta tiled roofs and floodlit church spires.
Traditional, centrally located village house. All newly fitted out to a very high standard. Stunning views over lovely French village.

La Bastide is situated in the heart of the charming, thriving, village of Maraussan, 5km from Beziers. Maraussan has fabulous boulangeries, butchers, seafood stall, grocery, supermarket, newsagent, wine co-operative, florist and pharmacy. The famous restaurant Parfums des Garrigues, is 3 minutes walk from the house. The village also boasts a good pizza place, a village bar, another excellent restaurant and regular pizza van.
Maraussan is also home of the renowned Chateau de Perdiguier. You can arrange wine tastings at short notice.
Beziers has a wide range of shops, restaurants, bars, weekly markets and excellent food hall. There are ferias and festivals throughout the summer.
The beaches of the Languedoc are much longer and sandier than Provence's pebbly equivalents. The house is very close to two excellent beaches, Serignan and Portiragnes. And even closer are Valras and Vendres which are good family beaches.
Other attractions are the Canal du Midi, nearby port of Marseillan, the beach resorts of Agde and Sete, the marshlands of the Camargue, the fascinating trail of the Cathars leading to Carcassonne and the elegant city of Montpelier with its' famous art gallery. Just to name a few!
Celebrity chef, Rick Stein, cited this area as the "real France" in his recent TV series. The area is full of extraordinary sights, foods and wines. The house sits amongst one of the largest and most attractive wine growing areas in France.

Thank you to Helen for letting us stay in her lovely house. we had booked in 2019 and it has been a long awaited holiday. The house is well located in the village of Marausan close to Bezier, Narbonne and Montpelier. The village although appearing sleepy has all the necessary French indulgences including a coquillage shop, bakers, take-aways, a restaurant and 2 bars. A short walk across the fields below take you to the River Orb where you can swim paddle or fish. There local Chateau de Perdiguier which offers a great wine tasting and visit is also a short walk across the vineyards from the house. The house was well equipped with high end linen, crockery and tableware. There was ample fridge space for cooling those bottles of Rosé. Lovely green garden with good size pool. The terrace made a great shady place for those long long French lunches All in all well worth the 3 year wait.Guest rating:
La Bastide is a beautiful house, tastefully decorated and very well equipped. We stayed there for a week with our daughter, son in law and our two grandsons (6 and 3). The boys loved the Lego and the gameroom and had a lot of fun in the pool. There is a security gate between the terrace and the pool, which is safe for children who cannot swim yet. Also in the house everything is there to make it safe for children. Around the corner there are bakeries for fresh croissants in the morning and supermarkets are nearby.Guest rating:
My husband and I stayed here for a 2 month break during May and June. We found the house a real home from home. Very comfortable, plenty of space and extremely well fitted out with high end linen, crockery, kitchen equipment etc. The pool was really great and was heated initially which meant we swam every day! It was also maintained regularly. The gardens were delightful - a real green oasis in the middle of a typically French village. We ate out for every meal on the large, well appointed terrace which offered shade all day long - very important in this area when the temperatures were regularly in the high 30s and on occasion 40+. It is a great base for exploring this lovely region - only 15 minutes into the centre of Beziers, not far to the beaches and also to the beginning of the Haut Languedoc National Park. Do visit Roquebrun and Cessenon sur Orb with its river beaches. Plenty of supermarkets nearby and 2 lovely bakeries within a couple of minutes walk. I would definitely stay here again if we come back to this region. Thank you Helen and Stephen for making our stay so lovely.Guest rating:
Beautiful house, tastefully decorated and very well equipped, a real home away from home! Great garden and fantastic pool, a real hidden treasure in the middle of Maraussan. We had a lovely stay at La Bastide and didn’t want to leave! Between day trips to local beaches, lunch in the lovely port of Marseillan, walks along the canal du midi and exploring striking villages up in the hills, the region kept us busy. It was always a pleasure to return to the house, take in the beautiful view and make the most of the living space, the terrace, and the garden. We loved it and hope to return.Guest rating:
"La Bastide" is truly a home from home. You have thought of everything that a family on holiday would need or want. Wrapped up in the most comfortable of surroundings! We sampled some of what was on offer in the region for holidaymakers from kayaking, to swimming in rock pools at Gorges d'Héric. Exploring Carcassonne and Beziers itself. But it was the relaxed poolside break that we kept returning too. Sometimes exhausted, especially after the ariel exploits at Beziers adventures!! Truly 5 out of 5! Thank you once again for a wonderful holiday.Guest rating:
On arriving at the house, we were immediately impressed at how well equipped the house was. The layout of the house is perfect if you have children - they can hideaway in the 'snug' and watch a DVD from the many that were supplied in the property while we sat on the terrace enjoying a glass of wine. The ground floor is well thought out and spacious and so while staying with another family we didn't feel under each other's feet at any point. The pool was fabulous, and was great for us as it was set just down from the house in the large garden from the house with a security gate so the children couldn't access it without one of us being there. The bedrooms are gorgeous and the large family-sized walk in shower felt very luxurious. We had a slight issue with one the fridge during our stay, but upon contacting the owner, we had a resolution to the problem the same day (a visit from a local repair man) which we were very impressed by. We would recommend this house to friends and family and will be hoping to return soon.Guest rating:
