Charming 19th Century Normandy Farmhouse
In a peaceful farming hamlet between Avranches and St Hilaire du Harcouet, La Miltière offers peace and tranquillity yet is only a short drive to a bustling town or the coast. We are only fifteen minutes walk from the beautiful protected Selune Valley river offering fishing and many scenic walks. The countryside is pleasingly rural and unspoilt and there are good seaside facilities within easy reach. There is also a 7 seats indoor hot tub and a 4 seats sauna available all year round and a large heated swimming pool within exclusive use on site, completely secure by an automatic safety gate. The water temperature is 26°celcius all the season. The pool has descending stairs, making it suitable for young children. There is also a large closed garden with playground.
Charming French property with everything you need for that special holiday in France. Heated swimming pool, hot tub, sauna, large timber terrace and BBQ will make those long summer evenings memorable. Set in a peaceful yet not too secluded area within 10 minutes walk from the beautiful Selune valley. The property is a perfect base for walking with just a 15 minute stroll to the Selene river, why not bring your fishing gear (permits available at the local tabac in Ducey). Ducey: 7 km away is our nearest town. It is host to the historical Montgommery Chateau which is often open to the public for exhibitions and tours. During the summer months the grounds are surrounded by magnificent floral displays. The staff of the Tourist information Office which is located opposite the chateau are extremely helpful in providing information about this and other attractions both in and around Ducey. A small supermarket is to be found here, as is a bank, two dispensing chemists, a pizzeria, a creperie, two bars, an excellent restaurant specialising (not exclusively) in seafood, butchers, tabacs and of course boulangeries! An English speaking Doctor is also based in a surgery in Ducey. Market day is Tuesday.
Avranches: Just a short drive away Avranches has some wonderful streets for shopping, garden admirers and historians alike. From The Jardin des Plantes is a fantastic view across the bay of le Mont St Michel.
St James: Home to the American World War 2 Cemetery.
St Hilaire Du Harcouet: To be found 9km away. Whilst a lot larger than Ducey it has certainly not lost its charm. With numerous bars and restaurants, the pavement culture is much in evidence. The local Wednesday market here is the biggest weekly agricultural market in Normandy.
Villedieu-Les-Poeles: Renowned for its copper workshops and museums. It is also home to the Zoo de Champrepus.
Mont-St-Michel: Just 20 minutes (22Km) away by car, the island monastery is today the second most visited tourist attraction in France (after the Eiffel Tower) - and is a truly spectacular site located just off the coast of Brittany and approached by a causeway. It is delightful at any time, but particularly enchanting at night. Whilst it is quite a climb to the top the views over the bay are spectacular! The renowned omelette restaurant La Mere Poulard is housed on the island - where it is possible to watch the chefs preparing their world-famous dishes traditionally in large copper pans over open wood fires.

I was a bit nervous transferring money via an online transfer site but it turned out superb. We celebrated an anniversary and a birthday, went 0to the nearest supermarket and ate good food and drink fine wine. We played volleyball in the pool, plus there's a load of toys in a box by the pool.., we chilled out in the hot tub and we caught the sun on the comfy sunbed. If you like fresh air and complete darkness when you go to bed you'll get a great nights sleep. The only thing I would say is that the name of the place is actually a house and place you see in the picture is on a short gravel road immediately before. We were so impressed we are strongly considering staying again sometime soon. #frenchdream
Guest rating:
Our third visit to La Miltiere, this is an ideal get away for our family and 2 dogs; the large farmhouse and gardens surrounded by farmland, trees and views create an idyllic setting, with space for everyone. The icing on the cake is the superb private swimming pool. The host family are so welcoming yet maintain a very professional approach to ensure your stay is as perfect as possible. The house comes well equipped for eating inside and out - preferably outside as the long evenings stretch before you with beautiful sunsets. The facilities on site are very suitable to families, with the bonus of having the dogs there too. If you enjoy tranquility and the country life, this is an excellent location.Guest rating:
The photos really don’t do this property justice; there really is everything you need for a family holiday. Other than the upstairs bedrooms could do with mirrors, I can’t fault it. It has all the charm a French cottage should have. We literally spent most of time outside enjoying the warm pool (which the kids loved), Jacuzzi and eating/drinking under the dining area. The outside garden is huge, plenty of room for the children to run around. The property is surrounded by beautiful fields, with only one other cottage in sight. It really is quiet and peaceful. The owners were very attentive, and respond to any questions we had quickly. They left a lovely bottle of fizz to celebrate our anniversary on arrival. There are some quiet beaches about 20 minutes away, but we preferred to drive out to the more tourist area of Dunart. St Malo is great to walk around, lovely restaurants. Saint Michel was about 15 minute’s drive away. The cottage is perfectly located to enable you to relax while at the cottage, or drive out to the local villages and beaches.Guest rating:
