Pretty Self-Catering Gite in Beautiful Tarn-et-Garonne
'La Ville' is situated on a hillside facing the small village of Fauroux, which is between the bastide village of Lauzerte and the larger town of Valence d'Agen.
It offers the visitor total peace and quiet - a real escape from the hustle and bustle of modern living.
La Ville was originally a tiny hamlet, and so there are a cluster of buildings to be enjoyed. Part of the huge grange has been converted into a mixed games room and the old bread oven is still intact.
The owners, Chris and Moira are professional musicians who have established a lovely music facility at La Ville alongside the gites. If you enjoy listening to, or indeed making music, activities to suit different tastes can be happily organised. You can even book a few lessons if you want to brush-up on your piano, voice, brass or composition skills - these being particular specialisms!
Each holiday rental however enjoys privacy by not being overlooked, (so you don't have to join in!) and with their own private well-equipped outdoor living spaces.
The property and 12 x 6 metre pool (floodlit for evening swims!), are surrounded by 2 acres of grounds, which are alive with colour for most of the year. There is a parc, (small field) planted with fruit trees, woodland on three sides, a very productive potager, (kitchen garden) badminton court, and grassed areas which serve as an extension to the pool terrace. There is also an amazingly deep well, (made totally safe), which is floodlit - yet another rather special feature of La Ville.
A beautifully appointed Petanque court has been created, so guests can enjoy playing the traditional French game of boules - yet another activity to help your holiday along!
There are 360 degree views from the hilltop, which are stunning throughout all seasons, breathtaking sunrises and sunsets being a particular feature; worth getting up for with a cup of coffee, and worth relaxing with a glass of wine at the end of the day!
This pretty two bedroomed chalet-type gite is laid out on one level. It has high ceilings, with lovely feature beams and is flooded with light.
It is simply, but comfortably furnished, with care having been taken to provide everything that one might need for a truly lovely holiday. Accommodation comprises:
- Open plan living space with an integral and comprehensively equipped kitchen, making this a very family oriented holiday home!
- Bathroom
- One double bedroom
- One twin bedroom
The bedrooms are both good sizes and a cot can be added to the double bedroom if desired.
Outside
There is a raised decked terrace with table and chairs, and within the small private dry garden, there is both a bbq area and further garden furniture for al fresco dining, or simply to relax in. There is also shared use of the delightful pool and poolside terrace.
La Ville offers total peace and quiet, perfect for a relaxing holiday. If, however, laying by the pool or reading a good book in the shade of a tree is not quite enough, we offer a range of activities to enhance your stay.
There is a games room, with table tennis, snooker/pool table, a dart board and some gym equipment to help keep you fit!
If being indoors doesn't appeal, then you can enjoy badminton or boules in the garden. We also have swings for the children.
La Ville is set outside of a small village, and is surrounded by rolling farmland, with glorious 360 degree views, with the Pyrenees visible when weather conditions are right!
There is something for everyone in the general area, whether you enjoy historical sites, bastide villages, festivals, local markets, sporting activities, fine dining (with Chateau de l'Hoste and a 2 * Michelin restaurant within easy reach) or lively evenings out.
As La Ville is at the end of its own country lane, there is no traffic, other than that of guests! Locally, roads are a pleasure to drive on, with it being perfectly possible not to see another vehicle for many kilometres.
Summers are full of local fetes, where evenings can be spent over a communal meal in a town square for a very reasonable cost, whilst enjoying a wide range of high quality entertainment. For those who enjoy classical music, a number of festivals are within easy reach, where international artists are featured alongside local professionals.
The region has a fabulously sunny climate, with long hot summers and a mild spring and autumn.
Markets are a big part of French rural living, and this area is no exception, with a local market somewhere close by, on each day of the week. Shopping, whether it be for local produce or souvenirs, becomes a pleasurable activity, with a stop for coffee and pattiserie in an outdoor cafe essential - just watch the world go by!
Wildlife is in abundance, with sightings of deer, wild boar, red squirrels, and huge numbers of birds of prey being the norm - a bird watchers paradise!
Walking is a pleasure, with beautiful scenery in every direction, rare sightings of cars, and everything from gentle strolls to backpack expeditions possible from the property. Golf courses are within easy reach, and for the more adventurous there is horse riding, white-water canoeing and even a local parachute school and hot-air ballooning. Cycling is a further option, with varying terrains to enjoy; from steep hill climbs to gentle flat rides along canal paths.
There is a good choice of restaurants within a few miles radius, to suit all budgets. Everything from a local pizzeria to gourmet eating at Chateau de L'Hoste.

Thank you Moira and Chris we have really enjoyed our stay at L’atelier, relaxing and extremely clean accommodation. The bread, jam etc on arrival was wonderful as was the delicious meal made by Moira. The past two weeks have been so peaceful and relaxing! We have all enjoyed the spotless swimming pool – a great place to cool off, as we were blessed with two weeks of hot weather. We have enjoyed the wonderful surroundings and the boys enjoyed star gazing at night!

This is our fourth stay in L’atelier at La Ville – and that speaks volumes! As always, our hosts Moira and Chris ensured our stay was perfect. Since our first visit in 2010, amazing progress has transformed the outbuildings into stunning holiday accommodation. The superb, well-equipped gite is set in magnificent surroundings and the badminton court, games room and swimming pool have provided us with hours of fun and has enabled us to relax together!
An added bonus on arrival was the super homemade bread and jam and not forgetting the chocolate brownies during the week! Thanks for everything!Guest rating:
We’ve had a fantastic and relaxing time at L’atelier. It was so good to have the pool to play and cool down in. We’ve been amazed by the peace and beauty of the place (and the number of figs on the trees!) Thanks for the great directions, and lovely wine. We’d love to come back – thank you.

We have enjoyed the beautiful pool and use of the games room and badminton etc. We have also enjoyed lovely days out to Chateau Bonaguil, Moissac, climbing up the tower at Moncuq and wandering the streets of the local towns as well as the evening fetes at Bourg de Visa. Thank you Moira and Chris for a warm welcome, the lovely homemade treats and helpful advice etc.

Thank you for an absolutely wonderful holiday in La Grange! What a perfect tranquil and beautiful haven we have found here at La Ville. So many lovely hours lazed away amongst the lavender and petunias besides the spotless pool, walks amidst the sunflowers, al fresco dining on our own terrace and occasional forays further afield to the lovely villages of the area. Chris and Moira, you have been so very welcoming, making our 'sejour' a totally relaxing and regenerating holiday for the whole family. Thank you for the perfect summer vacation!Guest rating:

Thank you so much for making our stay at L'Atelier so relaxing and enjoyable. The well equipped kitchen, comfy beds and beautiful veranda have meant we have had to think of nothing other than where to buy our morning croissants and crusty bread! Our girls have had a great time in your beautiful pool, in the games room, playing badminton and on the swings, as well as learning French from Buddy! The pizza meal on arrival was delicious, as was the homemade bread and jam.

We have had a fantastic holiday. Moira and Chris made us very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Our accommodation, 'La Cave' was great, we had everything we wanted and it was lovely and cool inside when the temperature outside was over 35'. The location was ideal too, out in the country, but central for visiting many special villages, markets, cities and other attractions. Very highly recommended.Guest rating:
We had a very enjoyable holiday at La Ville - the gite, location and facilities were perfect. The pool area was quiet and relaxing - great for cooling off from the hot sunshine! Thank you to Chris and Moira for such a warm welcome and for catering so thoughtfully for our two year old daughter.
Guest rating:
Coming from New Zealand we appreciated the good communications we had with Moira and Chris before our arrival. A lovely welcome awaited us with bottles of wine and milk, butter, cheese, crackers and biscuits. The cottage is very adequate and the pool lovely. WIFI is available in the main house and the folder for nearby sites and restaurants very helpful. Moira and Chris are great hosts and we wish them every success.
A topper pad for the IKEA slat bed is available on request. We would recommend this gite..
