Built in 2002 in the typical 'bastide' style of Provence, this villa is situated in a quiet location on the slopes of a gentle hill in the outskirts of the beautiful mediaeval Duchy of Uzes. The villa is set in the middle of its grounds of about a third of an acre. It has lovely views. It is the owners' 2nd home.
The villa is a 12 min walk to the town centre. It is light and spacious, being very comfortably furnished and equipped to a high standard.
The layout is unusual with the bedrooms and bathrooms in three separate areas in the villa, all leading to the central living room and kitchen/diner with its long covered terrace.
Bedrooms
3 doubles, 2 twins, 2 additional children's beds (in large twin bed room), 1 cot with drop side. 3 bedrooms (2 with double beds and 1 with twin beds and 2 slide under children beds) are on the first floor with magnificent views and they share a cloakroom, a bathroom and a shower room (2 WCs). 1 bedroom with double bed and e/s bathroom is in one wing of the ground floor and has its own pergola terrace. The other ground floor bedroom is in another wing of the villa; it is smallerand has a bed which can be used as an 80 cm single bed or a 160 cm double bed; it has an e/s shower room; it is separated from the rest of the villa by the garage and looks out onto the pool and the side garden.
Outside
The garden is about 1/3 of an acre (approximately 1540 square metres) and is mainly laid to lawn with masses of shrubs and many trees. The 60 sq m pool is at the centre of the main lawn and is 'L' shaped. The length is 11.5 metres & the width is 4.5 metres. It is 1.90 metres deep at the villa end and 1 metre deep at the other end. At the shallow end is a 2.5 metres square beach area which runs from 10 centimetres deep at the edge to 70 centimetres deep at the point where it steps down into the main pool. The pool is overlooked by a 19 sq m covered terrace with a long dining table and seating for 12 and gas & charcoal BBQs
Additional Information
- The living room has a smart TV with UK channels by satellite, French channels via the aerial, Netflix
- Each bedroom has an electric anti-bug device which take tablets or liquid refills
- Each bedroom has large built-in wardrobes with mirrored doors, drawers + plenty of hangers
- The villa has air conditioning in the living area and the four bedrooms in the main house
- The smaller downstairs bedroom without air-con has pedestal fans which are very effective
- There is a gas BBQ which can be used on any of the terraces
- Each of the three terraces is amply furnished with tables & chairs
- There are plenty of sun loungers and parasols for use round the pool and elsewhere in the garden
- Bed linen, bath towels, pool towels and kitchen towels are supplied at no extra charge
- Products are provided for cleaning
- Starter products are provided for the dishwasher and washing machine & soap in the 2 bathrooms, 2 shower shower rooms & the 2 independent WCs. We provide starter toilet rolls for the 5 WCs
- End-of-stay cleaning is provided as part of the service
- The pool is regularly cleaned
- The garden is maintained during each stay when necessary but every effort is made to mow the lawns in between stays so as not to disturb guests
Occupancy numbers - although we have beds for 10, we can accommodate babies & sometimes toddlers in addition. This is something that we are happy to discuss
Pets - we love dogs and cats. We have to say 'no' to pets officially. Unofficially we do sometimes accept dogs BUT this depends entirely on whether we are satisfied that the owners will ensure that the furniture is not damaged & above all no excrement is left in the garden. No-one has ever asked us to take a cat: I doubt that we would be able to accept a cat because they tend to rip fabrics & it isn't possible to find & remove their excrement
The town lies close to the River Gardon and the famous 2000-year-old Pont du Gard. The area gives an authentic taste of the Midi, with its rolling hills and vineyards, its Roman remains and the hot sun.
Uzes is a beautifully restored mediaeval town on a low hill in the Garrigues hills above Nimes. It is about 20 mins by car from the freshwater swimming on the beaches of the River Gardon at Collias and the famous Roman Pont du Gard, about 35 mins from the city of Nimes with its Roman Arena, about 40 mins from the papal city of Avignon, about 45 mins from the grottos of the Ardeche, about 50 mins from Orange, with its Roman theatre, and one hour from Montpellier with its long sandy beaches.
The centre of Uzes is pedestrianised with narrow cobbled streets. There are many little antique, art and furnishing shops. There is a famous market on Saturdays selling country produce, cheess, wine, Provencal pottery and lace. Pavement restaurants, where itinerant musicians serenade the diners, are the favourite venue for evenings. The Haribo factory and the Museum of Toys and Trains provide entertainment for children. Horse riding, quad biking, tennis and golf are all to be found in and around the town.Vineyards abound.
Other Activities: canoeing, quad-biking, famous Saturday market, street music, open-air night life
Golf: Uzes has an 8-hole Golf course. Nearby Nimes has an 18-hole Golf course.

Excellent villa with short walk to town. Really lovely villa with pool. We were 6 adults and we all thought the place perfect. Spacious, well equipped with a great pool. We also had the advantage of wall to wall sunshine for the week. A short 15minute walk to the town centre. Overall would highly recommend.
Guest rating:
We had a very good stay at the house, which was fully equipped and comfortable. The warm swimming pool (33°) was fantastic, and airco on the other side was very much needed as temperatures were around 38° when we stayed there. For us, 6 adults, it was a fantastic stay.

We had a wonderful week in this lovely location. I loved the view from our bedroom upstairs and the pool was a real hit!
It really feels like you are staying in someone’s home rather than a holiday rental - lovely vibe and facilities so comfortable.
Guest rating:
My children and I have stayed in the villa every summer for a number of years and we never want to leave when we are there. The villa has all the facilities required for children of varying ages and is set in a fantastic location within easy walking distance of the beautiful market town of Uzes & all it has to offer. In addition to the twice weekly markets, the town offers excellent restaurants & eateries and the surrounding area is full of fun activities for children and adults alike to enjoy.

Our stay here was the highlight of our 6 week European vacation. The house is so comfortable that it truly feels like a home away from home. It had everything we needed, including all the kitchen gadgets I could possibly need to cook some gourmet dinners after trips to the gorgeous local market in Uzes. Plus our kids loved the huge swimming pool and gardens! The vistas from my bedroom window each morning took my breath away. We can't wait to return next year.

We had our first holiday with our baby in Elisabeths beautiful villa. Elisabeth was so kind accommodating and and replied incredibly quickly and helpfully to any questions we had. The villa is so comfortable it felt more like a home than a rental property. We spent many pleasant days in the beautiful garden & the lovely warm pool. The multiple terraces mean you can have every meal in the shade (or sun!). Beautiful Uzes is a short walk away and we'd recommended kayaking under the pont du Gard.

We stayed at Elisabeth’s villa in Uzés for the last week of 2017 and loved every minute of it! The entire house was very comfortable even for our group of 9 adults! Spacious and clean, and conveniently located - close to many interesting sites, all of them very charming even in winter! The living room is very cozy (nice little fire place!) and the kitchen is large and has all the things you need to cook. The host was easy to communicate with and their is a great binder of recommendations. Wished we had booked a longer stay!

Delightful villa walking distance to Uzes
We have had the pleasure of staying twice at Elisabeth's delightful Villa. It is very well furnished and well kept with a spacious sitting room fully equipped kitchen and good sized bedrooms. Everything works with lots of fridges/ freezers and is spotlessly clean on arrival. The house has morning and evening terraces, the latter going onto the garden and the swimming pool. The pool is a good size and set in a delightful garden which is very private despite the proximity of other houses. On our second visit the house was full to capacity but did not feel crowded (we were 10 adults and 2 young children). The friendly house manager lives just over the road and is only too willing to sort out any problems. A particular advantage of the villa is that it is only about 10 minutes walk from the centre of Uzes which is delightful and has an abundant supply of shops, restaurants, cafes etc. The centre is a pedestrianised medieval city with squares that host popular markets twice a week. There are two big supermarkets on the outskirts. The old adage that you won't want to leave once you are here applies and with everything on the doorstep you don't have to but Avignon, Nimes and the Pont du Gard are all nearby. Overall a lovely villa with an excellent pool with everything you need close to hand and which we highly recommend.Guest rating:
This villa was exactly as advertised, spacious, welcoming and well maintained. There was plenty of room for our extended family group (five adults, two four-year-olds). The wonderful pool and effective air-con were particularly welcome as temperatures reached 35c most days. Uzes is an attractive town, and the centre is about 15 mins walk from the villa (fine, except during the hottest parts of the day). Although the one-way, often busy ring road presented some initial challenges, we orientated ourselves after a couple of days and enjoyed the excellent market, shops and many restaurants and cafes; other tourist attractions include a castle, cathedral, medieval garden and the Haribo museum. Slightly further afield, we also enjoyed visits to Lussan, Castillon-du-Gard and the Pont du Gard. We didn't travel far on this visit, but hope to return and explore the wider area once our children are a bit older. Thank you Elisabeth for letting us stay in your beautiful house. (It was particularly nice having a piano to play!)
