Grand Pic is a large 3 bedroom gite sleeping up to 6 guests. It can be booked together with our smaller gite, Petit Pic which sleeps 4, thus allowing groups of up to 10. Accommodation is over two floors.
The bedrooms and family bathroom are on the first floor and comprise
- A double bedroom, with a queen bed
- A twin bedroom
- A third bedroom containing two bunk beds. The bunk beds are large enough to sleep adults as well as children.
- The family bathroom contains a bath with integral shower, sink and WC.
Downstairs is
- A large open plan room with a sitting/TV area, a fully equipped kitchen and a dining area with a large dining table which comfortably accommodates 6 people.
- At the rear of the property you will find a utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer,
- A shower room
- A separate WC.
The property also has a single garage.
On the outdoor terrace there is a dining table overlooking the garden. We provide BBQ facilities with fuel and lighters.
The property has extensive gardens of approximately 8 acres. We have a 10 x 5 metre swimming pool which is shared between the two gites. We provide sun loungers, pool towels and pool toys There are swings and a trampoline for our younger guests and outdoor games equipment. We also have an indoor games room with table tennis and darts.
For families with very young children we can provide a cot, high chair and stair gate at no extra charge on request.
Welcome to Cathar country! We are located 40 minutes from the Unesco World Heritage site of Carcassonne. As well as Carcassonne itself there are a number of historical sites in spectacular locations including the castles of Montsegur and Peyrepertuse and the abbey at Fontfroide.
Local activities include walking, fishing, riding, canoeing on the river Aude and cycling. Bikes can be delivered to the gites. Further afield there are activities on land and water at the Lac de Meribel. We can help you in locating and booking your activities if required. If you'd like a day at the seaside the coast at Narbonne Plage is just over an hour away.
We are also in the heart of a wine producing area. Most famous is the Blanquette de Limoux, made using the methode champenoise, but there are also good local reds to be found, with plenty of opportunities to taste before you buy at the cellar door.
Just over an hour away is the 'Pink City' of Toulouse with interesting historical buildings in the centre and the Cite de l'Espace on the outskirts.
There is entertainment aplenty - there are a number of outdoor festivals in the area. The Carcassonne festival runs every July, with opera, classical concerts, and international rock bands. It all takes place in the outdoor theatre in the old city - a spectacular location. Major outdoor events also take place in Nimes and Albi during the summer.
There is a year round programme of opera and classical events in Toulouse.

How to get to Grand Pic
- The nearest airport is Carcassonne, with regular flights with Ryanair from several locations in the UK. Carcassonne airport is a 35 minute drive from our gites. Other flight alternatives include Toulouse and Perpignan, with a choice of British Airways, Easyjet and Ryanair depending on the chosen route.
- Whether you are driving, flying in and hiring a car or taking the train, we will provide you with detailed directions from the A61 junction at Bram, or from Carcassonne airport.
Please note that a car is essential as we are in a very rural location.

This is a beautiful gite tucked away in a quiet corner of the countryside but with all you need in easy reach. This is one of the best gites we have stayed in, in terms of equipment and accomodation everything is of good quality and the sofa's and chairs are very comfortable. The pool is a a decent size with plenty of sun chairs, the pool is shared with Petit Pic which was not let for much of our stay. Carcasonne and Mirepoix are both in easy reach and there is a lot of walking available in the area. Sue and Ian are very helpful and have a lot of local information should you need it, there is also good wifi for browsing but not strong enough for streaming, but we don't go on holiday to watch TV.Guest rating:

Very well-equipped and pleasant accommodation. The area is very peaceful and we had a great time in the area. I thank the hosts who are nearby, discreet and very responsive to the slightest request. The given GPS point makes it very easy to find the place.

Peace, quiet, almost exclusive use of the lovely pool, a great little games room and very well looked after by our hosts. They had thought of absolutely everything and the gîte was extremely well equipped.Guest rating:
