This beautiful converted perfumery house is surrounded by spectacular landscaped gardens with plenty of space to sun bath or sit in the cool shade under one of the many palm or olive trees, one of which is 800 years old.
The property is fully fenced with an electronic gate at the entrance and easy parking for 4 cars. There is a large pool of 14x6m and a lovely terrace for alfresco dining and drinks. There are plenty of sun loungers and sitting areas around the property and for the more energetic there's a tennis court and ping pong.
The interiors have been tastefully decorated,
- The beautiful kitchen is fully equipped with state of the art appliances and patio doors opening onto the terrace with views over the gardens and hills.
- Outside on the terrace is a lovely sitting area and a dining table sitting 10 people with a BBQ for outdoor cooking. At the front of the property is a lovely old stone table, a nice place to sit in the afternoon.
Downstairs there is also
- A dining room
- A lovely spacious living room, the living room has an open fire, french doors into the garden, satellite TV and DVD plus a games machine to keep the kids happy.
- Two bedrooms with shower rooms, one double and the other with two single beds. Both bedrooms have french doors opening onto the garden and lovely outside sitting areas.
On the first floor there are 3 more ensuite bedrooms, each accessed by it's own staircase:
- Master 1: This is accessed from the living room and has a small hallway, kingsize bed (160cm) with views over the front garden and a lovely bathroom with standalone bath and walk in shower.
- Master 2: A lovely romantic bedroom with a four-poster kingsize bed (160cm) and doors opening onto a Juliet balcony with stunning views over the pool and gardens. It also has a daybed that can accommodate up to two small children, so perfect for a young family. There is also an ensuite bathroom with standalone bath and walk in shower.
- Bedroom 3 has 2 single beds and a large bathroom with standalone bath and walk in shower.
There is also a cot and high chair available.
This spacious, beautifully renovated Mas has breathtaking views of the hills towards Magagnosc. Located on the outskirts of the perfume capital of Grasse, this property provides an excellent holiday base to explore some of the very best destinations the Riviera has to offer. Grasse is a beautiful old town in the hills north of Cannes. It's known for its long-established perfume industry, and this heritage is celebrated at the Musée International de la Parfumerie, in the town center. Large perfumeries such as Fragonard, Molinard and Galimard offer tours. Grasse Cathedral, a former Roman Catholic cathedral in the old town, contains many paintings, including some by Ruben. The town has lovely winding pedestrian shopping streets with squares to sit and have a refreshing drink or bite to eat.
Magagnosc, Chateauneuf de Grasse and Bar Sur Loup are all close by. The old town in Valbonne is around a 12 minute drive away and is based around the 'Place des Arcades' - arcades are the stone sheltered arched areas around the edge of the square that once provided shelter to merchants - which is a pretty square with cafes and a few shops. The square is a wonderful place to dine out and people watch and is very popular on summer evenings. The town has a superb butcher, bakery and delicatessen next to the large car park across the road from the pedestrianized part of the village. It also has an excellent poissoniere at the top of the village and on Friday mornings they have a great market, people come in from all around. We love the village and often go in the evening, great place to people watch and our kids love the pizzas in Cafe des Arcade, situated in the main square (it’s very popular). Just be aware of the prices on the market stalls, ask before you buy, you can spend a small fortune!
Another lovely village in the evening is Mougins, this is just south of us and right next to the D3 highway that you drive along to get to Grasse. We have had some lovely meals there.
We also love to go into Antibes in the evening, it’s a lovely old walled town, great places to eat and very lively, we tend to stroll around and take a look at the yachts after dinner, you can also climb onto the wall next to the harbor to get a great view of the area. We tend to drive to the port, follow the signs for port Vaughan and there’s a carpark next to the marina just across the road from the walled old town. Cannes is also fun in the evening.
In the surrounding countryside we have many other lovely villages all within a 30 minute drive, there are details in the visitor folder at the house. Some of our favorites to look up are:
- Gourdon- tiny hill top village just north of us, amazing views, lovely pottery and jewelry shops, lots of lavender for sale.
- Tourette-sur-loup – as above
- St Paul du Vence - this is the artist village, lots of galleries, again stunning views.
Supermarkets: There are a number of supermarkets in the area but we tend to go to E. Leclerc (you will drive past it if you follow the instructions to the house), it has everything under one roof, there’s a butcher and fish counter as part of the supermarket (we have had excellent meat from there). There’s also a Carrefour in Opio, a Supermarche Casino at the top of the hill on the Rte de Nice and a number of others in the surrounding area.
Boulangerie: On the roundabout close to E.Leclerc supermarket there’s a Paul bakery that has good bread, croissants - approx a 5 minute drive from the house. There’s also a good bakery at the top of the hill from the house in Pre du Lac, it’s just on the main road going through Magagnosc.
The villa is a perfect get-away within easy reach of many lovely villages and towns. The area has some wonderful restaurants and the market in Valbonne on Friday mornings is always great fun! Just a 20 minute drive to the coast around Antibes and 30 min from Nice airport.
