Exquisite Villa in Landscaped Gardens with Private Heated Pool
This charming villa is only a five minutes walk into the village centre just outside the Montpellier boundaries, with its ancient church and delightful river walks. It's also only about 8 minutes by car to the beautiful historic centre of Montpellier. Access to the house is via a short private drive into the pleasantly landscaped grounds.
The large rambling and secluded garden with its own generous pool, terraces and barbecue area has been landscaped to preserve the natural beauty of the original Languedocian Garrigue. Comfortable garden furniture & parasols around the pool and patios invite you to relax in this restful environment.
Languedoc can boast a gentle climate for a relaxing low season break and is especially beautiful in the spring and autumn with considerably higher average of sunshine than in the rest of France.
The interior of the house is tastefully furnished and comprises:
- Living room - generous size with 3 sofas, tv, music centre with DVD dolby digital surround. French doors opening to front terrace.
- Dining room - with French doors opening to shaded terrace overlooking the pool
- Kitchen - well equipped with 4 hobs, electric oven, microwave, dishwasher and fridge/freezer
- Sitting room - with comfortable seating, selection of games and
door to back terrace - 5 comfortable bedrooms - 3 with kingsize beds, 1 with
double bed, 1 with full-sized bunk bed for 2 kids or adults - Study with a sofa bed for 2 additional guests
- 3 bathrooms with toilets
- Separate WC
- Basement with fully equipped laundry, additional fridge freezer
- Games Area in basement with table tennis table
- Children welcome, 3 cots are available and 3 high chairs

There is free wireless Internet access and Skye satellite tv with all main English channels. There is thermostatically controlled electric heating throughout the house.
Additional fridge/freezer in basement; games area with table tennis; second living room with TV and with access to back terrace.
Surrounded by lush green countryside, olive groves and vineyards this charming village, directly on the outskirts of Montpellier, has various shops, including its own fresh bakery, butcher, 2 grocery stores, post office, pharmacy, a small bar, a restaurant, a pizza-takeaway and weekly street market.
20 minutes north leads into the mountains with spectacular scenery, ancient villages and the meandering river Hérault with its gorges, natural caves, canoeing and kayaking facilities.
25 minutes south leads to numerous beaches with long stretches of golden sands such as Palavas, Carnon Plage and Le Grau du Roi, offering restful tranquility or lively water sports and beach games. There are also the world famous natural Etangs of the Camargue with its wild flamingoes and white horses.
In only 8 minutes you are in the historic centre of Montpellier, with its impressive 16th century cathedral and a labyrinth of medieval lanes lined with street cafés and restaurants. There is an abundance of architectural treasures, museums, theatres, parks with fountains, vibrant street markets, and the famous Place de la Comédie, where the locals mingle with visitors and tourists from all over the world.
Apart from enjoying the colourful and lively bustle of the beach resorts you can explore the tranquil and beautiful "arrière pays" (back country) and discover the Languedoc wine route where some of the finest French wines can be enjoyed. Languedoc is now the biggest wine growing region in France and indeed Europe, and therefore it is not surprising that its wines are enjoying a true renaissance in French wine culture.
Slightly further afield to the west you can explore the stunning medieval walled city of Carcassonne, or towards the south lies Perpignan, the Cote Catalane and Roussillon, and towards the north the Gorges du Tarn and the Cévennes, to name but a few.
There is an increasing demand for holidays during the more quiet seasons for those who enjoy hiking, fishing, tennis, horse riding and golfing in the surrounding area.

This is a very spacious villa and would easily accommodate a large party with plenty of space to spread out in (there were only 2 of us). There is a terrace at the front with both sun and shade and a smaller terrace at the back which is nicely shaded by a pergola. The pool is a good size and is heated so it's warm enough to swim even early in the season. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need. The shower is good with plenty of hot water. The area is scenic with hills in the distance and within easy reach of Montpellier (using the tram was very easy) and the coast. The local village has butcher baker and grocer and supermarket so you don't have to venture far. The booking process was easy and Christina answered any questions quickly as did Imane and Claire the two ladies who look after the house.Guest rating:

LOVELY HOLIDAY HOME - Beautiful house, excellent pool. We spent a marvellous week with 2 families.
Guest rating:
We enjoyed a fabulous holiday full of delights ranging from flamingo-watching at Palavas salt-flats to fireworks at the Grabels Chateau, which was just 10 minutes after a quick wine stop at the gorgeous bar in town. What a great way to spend Bastille evening!
We loved Guilhem-le-Desert, especially the Pont Diable – some fantastic views and a day well spent in the quaint medieval village full of fascinating trinkets.
We visited Pézenas village as well and followed the trail using a map from the office de tourisme in town.
The village itself has a great variety of shops and a long history. Our mornings now won`t be the same without a croissant from the village bakery.
We went to the Sunday brocante on the Montpellier Peyrou and were amazed at the deals on offer – it was a highlight of the week for sure!
The house has been lovely and the pool was a welcome relief after sport and to cool down and soak up the sun.
Thanks for a great week.Guest rating:
4 Norwegian couples at our best ages (60ties) checked in after a 6-days bike ride from Bordeaux to Toulouse, and a rental car to Grabels.
Claire met us as we all arrived and everything was top-notch! Wonderful house, garden and pool – all very well equipped! Temperature of 35C limited our daily activities, but an evening in Montpellier, a day on the beach and an evening at the Jazz festival in Grabels was all wonderful. The shops in Grabels are stocked well – use them!
Thanks Claire and Christina – this was the week we wanted!Guest rating:
What a beautiful and well equipped villa. This has been an ideal holiday and situation for our coss generation holiday. Restaurants were a bit tricky to find until we used our Sat Nav and the Clos des Oliviers in the next village, St Gely du Fesc came up trumps for a celebration or our son in Law's birthday. Visits to The Grotte de Clamouse,St Guihelm- le- Desert, Sete and Montpellier were highlights of our visit. We are looking forward to returning this summer. I just wanted to send you a quick note to thank you for the use of the Villa. We have had a lovely holiday and really enjoyed staying in Grabels and exploring the surrounding area. The accommodation was super and all the family have had a very enjoyable break. We have had a lovely 2 weeks staying at Villa des Cigales and being able to play in the pool, relax on the patio and enjoy the sunshine. We have had many trips out like the city tour around Montpellier with wine tasting at the end, and we would highly recommend this! We have also been to Pont du Diable (well worth a visit), Palavas beach, la Grande motte, the Millau Viaduct and Carcassonne. The villa is in a perfect location for visiting these places! We also found that being near to the parking tramway was useful for going in and out of Montpellier centre without getting stuck in traffic. The villa has been great as you can always find a shady spot to cool down in after being in the sun. This in particular was useful as we had a 5 week old baby travelling with us! The facilities have been really good and we have had everything we could have needed. We have had a really good family holiday with 4 generations of our family here!
Thank you! From Michael, Alison, Andrew, Katie, Jean, Ken, Dan, Hannah and Ella. Lancashire, England.Guest rating:
We have had a fantastic holiday in your lovely villa. The children have enjoyed swimming in the pool every day and the go-karting was a hit! The villa is in the perfect location for exploring the wider area and we have discovered many new places. A particular thank you for providing a `proper`cot (not travel!) and a changing unit. These touches have made the life of an 18 months old baby`s mum much easier!! We have really loved our week and it marked our mum`s birthday in a very special way. We had a lovely time, thanks. Your villa had everything we needed and we spent a relaxing week. We went to two beaches, one at Palavas (clean and safe) and the other at Portiragnes (well worth the trip) as we were visiting our twinned town of Nissan at the time. In Montpellier, we found the tram easy to use once we had located the park and ride (very reasonable price) and even managed to fit in Montpellier's first game of the football season! We also paid a visit to the shops in Odysseum which was between 45 and 50 minutes away by tram. We located the village`s two bakeries which were accommodating but the butcher's was closed unfortunately. We tried the pizza takeaway and again this represented good value for money.
