Charming cottages nestled in a country lane, 500m from the Dordogne river.
Our 18th century property is set in the heart of the Dordogne Valley, in the picturesque village of Meyronne, 10 mn from Rocamadour and Martel. Ideally located near the unmissable sites of the region (Sarlat, Gouffre de Padirac, Collonges-la-Rouge,...), hilltop medieval castles and villages, top-notch restaurants and all kinds of activities (canoeing, swimming in the river, hiking, biking, rock-climbing, pot-holing....).
Our accommodation is both traditionally inspired and beautifully finished and comprises a restored 18th century farmhouse and two charmingly renovated French gites.
Set in peaceful surroundings, all three cottages are detached and are fully equipped for self catering.
Guests of any of our cottages can also enjoy our swimming pool during the summer months.
Laborie is located in the famous Dordogne valley, a beautiful French landscape of rolling hills, cliffs, forests, medieval hill villages and delightful towns and we are only minutes from a multitude of attractions and activities.
Previously an 18th century bread-oven, this self-catering gite has been beautifully renovated. The Bread-Oven cottage has wooden floors and stone tiles throughout.

- Kitchen / lounge - the stone façade of the original oven has been retained as a focal point on the ground floor lounge and leads to a circular kitchen (the interior of the old oven itself). The kitchen includes a dishwasher, washing machine and microwave
A wooden staircase leading to the first floor of the gite traces the original path of the oven's old curved chimney.
First floor
- Bedroom 1 - the master bedroom features an oeil de boeuf window and original wooden beams
- Bedroom 2 - with twin beds, has full-length windows
- Bathroom - both bedrooms adjoin the bathroom with shower

As guests of the Bread-Oven cottage, you have access to your own private garden area and use of the swimming pool.
Our self-catering holiday cottages are located in the heart of one of the most beautiful and unspoilt parts of southwest France - The Dordogne Valley - making our cottages the ideal base for a sightseeing holiday in The Dordogne.
From the era of Prehistoric Man through the Middle Ages and beyond the Dordogne is steeped in history. The Dordogne region also formed the historic frontier between France and England during the Hundred Years War and this rich heritage offers a renowned variety of sights for you to discover.
The Perigord boasts numerous castles, churches and medieval bastides towns as well as beautiful stone villages and prehistoric caves, all set in some of France’s loveliest countryside. Explore the ancient town of Sarlat, or discover the castle Beynac, once captured by Richard the Lionheart.
The rich and abundant culinary tradition of the region ensures a wealth of gastronomic treats, and a vast choice of markets, shops and restaurants.
The Dordogne river meanders throughout undulating hills, forests and limestone cliffs with new discoveries around every corner.
In the heart of the Dordogne Valley, we are perfectly located for exploring ancient chateaux, beautiful stone villages and the world-renowned historic sights of the region including Sarlat la Canéda where the ancient narrow streets burst with local produce on market day.
Discover the second most-visited site in France - Rocamadour - a medieval treasure that is literally hanging off the cliffs of the Alzou canyon. Enjoy the fun of canoeing down the river, which winds through breathtaking valleys. Visit the prehistoric caves of Lascaux, where extraordinary cave paintings (17,000 years old) tell the tales of prehistoric man.
Outdoor activities from hot-air ballooning to golf, walking and cycling are all very close to our holiday accommodation.
The Dordogne is also a fantastic family friendly area, full of fun activities for kids. They can canoe or swim in the river, which is quite safe and shallow in the summer months. For kids in need of thrills, they can splash in a waterpark with slides, pools, trampolines & bouncy castles (15 kms from us). Or they can go tree climbing in La foret des Ecureuils where they can jump from tree to tree and dangle from a flying fox 40 feet above the ground! Step back into history at the castle of Beynac with its museum of ancient warfare - a great place to visit.
Finally, after a long day’s activities, you can choose from a variety of restaurants as the rich culinary tradition of the Dordogne offers many gastronomic experiences ranging from Haute Cuisine to traditional French food.

We arrived at Laborie Cottages after a long drive and what a great place to land. Sean and Cecile are the nicest of hosts and the bottle of wine on arrival was well received ! Despite the weather not being all we hoped for there was loads for us to do locally and our teenage daughter and her friend were also delighted at what was on offer. In particular they loved the pool and the internet speed - which is a benchmark for them - was great ! The house was beautiful and everything that could possibly be needed was on hand. We hope to return as we missed out on canoeing on the river which is available nearby as the water was a bit high. This looked a great way to spend a day.

Very pleasant, peaceful stay. The hosts have a great digital app where they recommend things to do in the area. The accommodation is very clean and the communal areas very well maintained.

The Bread Oven was the perfect setting for a holiday in the Dordogne - close to lots of facilities and places of interest, but in a rural location, too.
The gite was really comfortable and downstairs remained cool despite the outside heat. The kitchen was well equipped and everything was very clean. We loved the pool and the views across the fields at the back.Guest rating:
Lovely cute cottage, authentically renovated and charming. Everything you need inside (dishwasher, washing machine etc), lovely gardens and a fantastic swimming pool to relax in. Such a beautiful part of France and nice hosts!

We had a really lovely time on our stay in The Bread Oven. Thank you for arranging the most beautiful sunshine for the week, it was amazing being able to relax in your wonderful gardens and my sister really enjoyed the pool, although I was not brave enough! Thank you it a was lovely to meet you, and you may even be lucky enough to see us again at some point.!!

We’ve just spent a glorious week staying in the Bread Oven.
Thank you Sean and Cecile for your welcome when we arrived and your help in recommending places to visit.
Having said that the Laborie app was really useful. The accommodation is beautifully clean and really well equipped.
I couldn’t recommend it highly enough and if you’re looking for a stunning location in this part of France you’d be pushed to find anything better.
We also loved to come back after trips out and spend time in the pool.
We hope to return in the future.Guest rating:
The Bread Oven Cottage was everything we anticipated. Charming, cosy and well placed in a wonderful setting. The facilities are first class with pleasant shared areas and well thought out spaces for privacy.
The owners, Sean and Cecile, are excellent hosts and do provide a very comfortable and fully equipped property. Being able to watch English channels on the TV was an added bonus. We thoroughly recommend a stay here.
Many thanksGuest rating:
Cécile and Sean are wonderful hosts. Great little place to stay with beautiful surroundings and a lovely pool for the hot days.

Hi Sean,
Thanks for a very nice stay, the kids were very upset to leave the bread oven and the area which we all really enjoyed. Hope your next guests enjoy it as much as we did.

After just returning from spending three wonderful weeks in the Bread Oven at Laborie, we would highly recommend this gite to anyone who would like to be a little bit away from it all in the Dordogne. The property is on the edge of a beautiful village that has stunning views of the river. The gite itself was spotlessly clean with all the equipment required for self-catering one could wish for. An added bonus was the pool, which Sean cleaned daily, as the weather was incredibly hot (it peaked at 38°C)
Cecile and Sean were outstanding hosts and nothing was too much trouble.Guest rating:
We thoroughly enjoyed our family stay at Laborie. The location is excellent, with many attractions within 20-30 minutes drive including Rocamadour, Gouffre de Padirac, the Foret des Singes and many beautiful villages. The local villages, Mayronne and St Sozy are themselves beautiful and with many facilities.
The Gite has everything a family could need, the pool was great and gardens spacious enough for our six and ten year olds to run around in. Any issues and Sean, the owner, is on hand daily to help out or just give advice on places to see.
Highly recommended, we’ll be back!
Thanks for everything Sean, as the review says we’ll hopefully return soon!Guest rating:
My family and I have just returned from the Bread Oven at Laborie and are already planning a return trip! From the very first moment we stepped foot across the threshold we felt relaxed and at home. The cottage is a hidden gem, everything we thought it would be and more. Nothing had been forgotten from an iron to a hairdryer in the bedroom. There was everything you needed for a self catering stay right down to a corkscrew to open our wine of which we drank plenty of in our welcoming private garden at the end of a long day visiting the surrounding area. The swimming pool was particularly welcoming with stunning views of the surrounding countryside. The silence at night was pleasantly deafening with just the sound of the birds and crickets to send us off to sleep. The area around the cottage is jawdropping! The week we had there was definitely not long enough. We only scratched the surface of the many towns and villages on offer and we can't thank our hosts Sean and his wife Cecile enough for their knowledge of the area enabling us to experience some absolutely stunning places. A visit to Laborie is a must as you won't find two nicer, more welcoming hosts than Sean and Cecile anywhere.Guest rating:
Laborie is a real treasure. It is in a beautiful, quiet area surrounded by lovely gardens and stunning views. Sean and his family are welcoming and attentive although very discreet during your stay. We stayed in the bread oven which has been beautifully renovated and is full of charm and well equipped. The pool was a real highlight for us during a very hot week. There are many interesting places to visit and great places to swim, cycle or walk very near. We hope to return in the future for a longer stay.Guest rating:
Hi Sean & Cecile, I just wanted to say thanks very much for our stay with you last week, we loved our time at the The Bread Oven. The Bread Oven was in a great location for The Dordogne River and surrounding attractions and we will think of you at Laborie over the coming months whilst stuck at work! Anyway thanks again for a great holiday.Guest rating:
After a hectic 12 months we were looking for somewhere peaceful and quiet to relax and thats exactly what we found at Laborie. We were a family of four looking to chill mostly and explore a little whilst enjoying the excellent food and wine the region serves up. The Bread Oven accommodation was ideal for us and we really enjoyed the fact that this building had been so sympathetically restored with a nod to its previous use. This combined with the pool really made the holiday for us!Because the weather was so good we ate and chilled outside most of the time, either by the pool or in the quiet garden area. The area has so much to offer and we really enjoyed visiting Sarlat, Martel and Rocamadour. Plenty to see and plenty of restaurants to try out - what's not to like. Even at the height of the summer we never felt crowded and the roads are a joy to drive on as there hardly anyone else on them. Sean's suggestion of kayaking down the Dordogne River from Gluges was the highlight of the holiday for us. The tranquility combined with the heat and view too make it a fantastic day. On the way back we all said without hesitation that Laborie is somewhere we would definitely go back to.Guest rating:
My wife, our two young children and I recently returned to England having just spent a fantastic week at the Bread Oven. The property has character, all the mod-cons you’d expect, a shared pool, which was great for the kids (and us) as well as extensive, well-kept grounds. There are two other properties on the site, each has their own private outdoor space for dining etc. The house is situated in the small village of Meyronne, a short distance from Saint Sozy where there is a butcher, small supermarket, bar and restaurant. There is a lot to see in and do within reasonable driving distance. Rocamadour is 15 mins away and the market town of Sarlat, gardens at Marqueyssac and pretty village of La RoqueGageac are within reasonable distance for a day trip. For the kids there is also the water park, Quercyland. Sean & Cecile were more than happy to answer any of our questions and offer advice on places to visit and even offered a babysitting service. All in all, our trip was great and we’d definitely return.Guest rating:
We have just returned from a week holiday at Laborie - The Bread Oven. Absolutely fantastic setting, very nice and friendly family, fabulous accommodation for a lovely and relaxing holiday in amazing countryside with lots to do within close distances. We will definitely return in the near future!...Guest rating:
Thank you both very much for all you did for us at Laborie . Such a beautiful part of France and you helped us to experience the highlights . The cottage was a delight , lovely countryside around, especially walking the little roads in the late evenings , charming little villages everywhere, great eating places - it all seems a wonderful dream now ! The cottage is charming , comfortable , with all mod cons , and the bonus of a swimming pool , situated in very pretty countryside and well placed to visit all those idyllic villages of the Dordogne area. But it was the hosts, Sean and Cecile , who made our stay . They were very generous with their time, advising on travel arrangements , the best sights to see , where to shop , where to eat - and helped us make the most of our too short week.Guest rating:
Hi Sean & Cecile Just wanted to thank you for a lovely stay in your beautifully renovated Bread Oven. It was a real treat and in such a great area for visiting all the attractions of the Dordogne Valley. The cottage was so well equipped and we enjoyed being able to have a braai (barbecue) in our private garden area. The pool area was lovely too and we would have enjoyed a swim there if we'd come in midsummer. We would like to thank Sean for all his help and advice on where to go and what to do as we were complete newcomers to France. We can heartily recommend Laborie to anyone who wants to explore a beautiful area of rural France from first class accommodation with friendly welcoming hosts. Best Regards Sue & Richard Jones Sedgefield, South AfricaGuest rating:
We stayed for one week in June with some beautiful weather and plenty to see and do. Booked both cottages with friends and we stayed in the Bread Oven. Our accommodation was very comfortable and the buildings and surroundings very picturesque. Cecile, Sean and family were wonderful hosts making us feel very welcome with plenty of helpful advice. Loved the sights of this area including Rocamadour, Gouffre de Padirac, Martel steam train, Sarlat market and the many surrounding beaux villages. A highlight was a canoe trip down the Dordogne river. There are plenty of great walks around Laborie on the small local roads. (June 2014)

We have just returned from a very happy week in Meyronne! We stayed in the Bread Oven with our 2 boys (6 and 10 years old) and absolutely loved it. The cottage is quiet, cosy and quaint – set in the most beautiful courtyard and grounds. The boys enjoyed the pool and we loved exploring the region. There is loads to do and the surrounding villages (Martel, Rocamadour and Domme) are very special. The absolute highlight was canoeing down the Dordogne (which itself lies about 500m from the cottage). All in all a memorable stay. Sean went out of his way to make us welcome and comfortable and we can't thank him enough. It was everything we could have wanted and more.

This was our fourth visit in five years to The Bread Oven. We absolutely love staying at Laborie! The pool is fantastic and it is a stunning setting with lots of space in the garden for our two young boys to run around and count the tractors passing by the gates. Sean and Cecile are wonderful hosts, very welcoming and full of useful advice and tips on where to go and where to eat. Their family is so friendly and our boys loved playing with their daughter Eva, in fact they still talk about 'Eva's House' now we're back home. The cottage is perfect for our us - very well-equipped and comfortable. It's a superb location, not only is it beautiful but it's so close to the pretty village of Saint Sozy, the Dordogne River, Gordes, Rocamadour - and pretty much everything that the Dordogne has to offer. It really is a wonderful escape for us all and we can't wait to come back.

Having recently returned from a two week holiday at Laborie staying in the Bread-Oven Cottage we would like to share our experience of a great holiday and also take this opportunity to thank our superb hosts... Sean & Cecile.
Laborie is set in beautiful countryside and we can definitely say that the phrase getting away from it all applies here. Days spent lazing around the pool and evening walks along the country lanes were a welcome tonic and yet it's also a well-placed location to go off for a day's sightseeing. There are some truly beautiful villages and towns to explore, Domme, Carennac, Rocamadour, La Roque-Gageac to name but a few. Plus, if you enjoy gardens then there is some fantastic topiary to see at the gardens of Marqueyssac and Eyrignac which are all within an hour's drive. Other adventures to be had were canoeing on the river Dordogne which can be easily arranged close by in Meyronne.
There are a variety of eateries ranging from the very family friendly La Capricorne in St. Sozy less than 5 mins drive away (excellent Pizza's eat in or takeaway) to the fine dining at La Terrasse restaurant which is within 10 mins walking distance. On a practical note, the accommodation had our every need covered. We would strongly recommend Laborie and this location to all for a wonderful holiday.
Guest rating:
This has to be one of the best places for a quiet, relaxing, place to stay. Surrounded by beauty and in a location close to so many of the must see's. Just lovely.
The bread-oven was perfect for us (incl 2 kids - 5yrs & nearly 2yrs). All 3 properties lovely, well furnished, very clean and a great base for the holiday. The pool was an excellent respite for all, post our daily travels. Salt water pool too - no chlorine - brill!!!
Sean and Cecile were the best for hospitality, friendliness, any information and always making sure all was well. With Eva who was a lovely friend for our kids and the whole family, not something you'll get on most holidays. We regret not being able to have booked for longer, so will definitely be returning, there's just so much to see and do and the weather to do it in.
We've been blown away by our Dordogne experience. We can only recommend Labrie Meyronne and Sean, Cecile & Eva's welcome and hospitality highly.
Guest rating:
We had a wonderful week in the bread oven cottage. Sean and Cecile made us feel really welcome with lots of little touches like the bottle of wine on arrival and especially the NZ tea towel in the kitchen! The boys loved finding a playmate in 4 year old Eva!!! The cottage was spotless and had everything we needed. Sean and Cecile provided us with invaluable information as to local attractions. Our highlights would have been the canoe trip down the Dordogne and the walk from Bouzies to St Cirq Lapopie. There was so much to do we could have easily filled in another week or two. Our week finished with a great family night out with Sean, Cecile and Eva sampling some of the local delicacies.
We would not hesitate to recommend Laborie to friends or family, particularly those with children, as a fantastic place to stay.

We have just arrived home from the most wonderful weeks holiday staying in the Bread Oven at Laborie. what a fantastic location, lovely accommodation and a great warm welcome from the owners Sean and Cecile
The location is perfect for touring the local area, with all the picturesque towns and cliff side villages within easy reach. Sean and Ceciles local knowledge was excellent, and they pointed us in the direction of some fantastic sites. once back at the Bread Oven our son was happy in the pool while my wife and I sipped local red wine (very cheap as well) in our own private garden over looking the pool. All in all a fantastic holiday, we shall be recommending Laborie to all our friends. Perfect, we shall be returning next year.

We had a wonderful stay at Laborie. The 'Bread Oven' cottage was lovely, clean, nicely decorated and well equipped. The location was beautiful and very peaceful but very convenient to get to lots of the lovely places of interest around the Dordogne and the Lot. The owners were so welcoming and friendly and helpful with recommendations for restaurants and places to visit.

We stayed in the Bread Oven this summer having previously stayed in the Barn several years before and had a fantastic holiday! The accommodation is top notch and the owners Sean and Cecile have put a great deal of thought and effort into providing a high quality and really comfortable environment. The grounds are well kept and match the quality of the accommodation. We had great weather and spent most afternoons in the outdoor pool. We would recommend taking a walk up to the adjacent local woodlands. Despite a steep climb the viewpoint offers a fantastic view of the Dordogne river and surrounding countryside.
Would recommend a meal at La Terrasse situated in the village - fantastic views of the river and if weather allows try to get a table on the terrace!
We will definitely be back and my parents(fussy travellers!!) are due to stay next summer on our recommendation.
Guest rating:
The Bread oven was immaculately presented with all the facilities you need for a self catering stay, the gardens and swimming pool were lovely areas to spend time with fantastic views of the surrounding limestone cliffs. Located in a great part of the Dordogne for reaching the river and numerous other tourist attractions. We had a great holiday here and we would highly recommended it.
Guest rating:
Fantastic, quiet, rural location but within easy reach of beautiful local towns - Martel being the highlight. Great accommodation with a brilliant swimming pool and terrace. The setting is just as picturesque as the photos suggest, set in a wide valley with corn fields in all directions. The River Dordogne is less than 10 minutes walk and is simply stunning.
There is a real sense of being in a genuine French community rather than it being dominated by holiday makers, the local people don't speak a lot of English which for us was a bonus and stopped us being lazy with our language. It probably goes without saying, but the local food and wine is some of the best you will find.
Sean and Cecile were incredibly welcoming and helpful with advice on places to visit / eat. The whole atmosphere was completely relaxed and friendly. We were genuinely sad to be leaving.
