3 Spacious Luxury Gites & Pool minutes from Carcassonne
Domaine de Curé has a long history dating back to 1800, with extensions made in 1825. Early records show that it was once a horse-breeding estate before becoming a winery sometime in the late 1800s. And even though wine is no longer produced at the domaine itself, the neighboring farmers continue to grow and pick the grapes in the surrounding vineyards that were once a part of the estate to make the regional Cabardes wine.
Today, part of the building, set in a one hectare estate rich with numerous species of trees, has been entirely renovated into 3 spacious gîtes (self-catering holiday homes) of the highest standards. A private swimming pool provides views of vineyards and the Pyrenees Mountains.
The quality of furnishings and fittings is of the highest standard thus providing you with every comfort for your stay with us.
The property lies in the middle of vineyards and is situated 1km from the village of Conques-sur-Orbiel and 10 kms north of Carcassonne in the Aude region of Languedoc Roussillon.

This is the second time we have stayed at this property although we stayed in a smaller gite this time round. We were again delighted with the property and location and the warm welcome from the owners Jean-Noel and Agathe. The property is very well equipped and in a very peaceful and idyllic location. It is however well placed for all amenities and there is plenty to see in the area.
Guest rating:
Not the one on the Moon, much closer to home! We spent two idyllic weeks at the Domaine in a first-class gîte, the highest specification of any we have previously rented in France. Jean-Noel and Agathe were very welcoming and made us feel right at home; so much so that apart from supermarket shopping and the occasional excursion, we rarely left the grounds. It helped that Jean-Noel keeps his own 'cave', which meant that we had a ready supply of locally produced wines ;-) Our stay coincided with the latter stages of the World Cup, so we watched the England-Croatia semi-final together with our hosts and another English couple, toasting the result appropriately. The grounds of the Domaine are extensive, surrounded by cultivated fields and vineyards, the pool is superb, and the views over Carcassonne and beyond to the Pyrenees quite spectacular. The rural location ensures that there is almost no road noise, the occasional passing car or tractor, some crop-gathering activity and vineyard maintenance, ensuring restful days and nights. Highly recommended.

We have just finished a 2 week stay in La Source, one of the 3 apartments in this wonderful property. The on-site owners, Agathe and Jean-Noel, are wonderful, being available when needed but never being intrusive.
The unit itself, if anything,is better than the pictures show. Very clean, large unit with 2 good sized bedrooms upstairs with separate sitting area with futon that can be used for extra guest or children. Toilet is separate from bathroom that has 2 large sinks and a walk in shower. Pool is nice.
Large Carrefour store with gas station is 10 minutes away.
A bonus is Jean-Noel's well chosen, very reasonably priced wine selection. We purchased a few bottles over our 2 week stay and they were all good.
If you want to relax in comfort and still be just minutes from Carcassonne, this is the place.Guest rating:
A charming gîte in a tranquil setting. Close to many Pays Cathare sites that can easily be explored from this location. Or...spend the day relaxing by the refreshing pool in the beautiful garden admiring the spectacular view. The gîte itself is modern and clean and the bed is very comfortable. Domaine de Curé is lovingly looked after by owners Agathe and Jean-Noël. I enjoyed my stay very much and hope to return.

We stayed in the small gite for 2 people and were very happy with the cleanliness, comfort and quality of the furnishings - everything worked well. Our hosts were most attentive and were prepared to share everything you needed to know about the local area. We enjoyed walks through the vineyards surrounding the gites, and found the medieval town in Carcassonne to be a rewarding day out. Highly recommended as an enjoyable, care free destination.

This was our first visit to the area and we could not have wished for a more perfect place to stay. Rural, yet set in close proximity to Carcassonne and other beautiful villages and scenery-a true escape to the country, but still only a short drive for shopping. The Caleche was spotless, clean, comfortable and stylish. Jean--Noel and Agathe were exceptional hosts balancing sociability and privacy to meet all guests needs and wishes. We enjoyed sitting out on the terrace most evenings over a glass of wine and felt very welcome. Sorry to leave but now relaxed and refreshed and can't wait to return. A perfect retreat in every way! Thank you Jean-Noel and Agathe for making it so special.

I stayed a couple of nights at Domaine de Curé as a side trip during business travel. While no one could predict the weather, I lucked out to have mild, sunny days - perfect for visiting nearby attractions like Carcasonne. I was able to stock up on food at nearby grocery stores and Jean-Noel had some excellent (and cheap!) local wines for sale to complement my meals. I can see this being a wonderful summer vacation spot, though I appreciated being in the minority as a tourist in the low season! The next time, I want to venture into Spain, which is just a little ways to the south.
Guest rating:
We had such a great time. The gite is spacious and had everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay. Only 15 minutes from Carcassonne and in the centre of "Cathar Country". Agathe and Jean-Noel were perfect hosts - especially with their supply of excellent local wine at very reasonable prices!! We would love to return...

We very much enjoyed our stay in August at in La Caleche at Domaine de Cure, located in a quiet rural location surrounded by vineyards but not far from facilities. The World Heritage Site at Carcassonne is close by, plus lots of other interesting historic villages and chateaux. Our apartment was beautifully kitted out with everything we needed and the large typically french garden was great to relax in, with interesting birdlife such as hoopoes occasionally visiting! Our hosts, Jean-Paul and Agathe were very helpful and gave us some good advice on places to visit and to eat, including the nearby Michelin star restaurant; La Berengerie. Outside Carcassonne, the area was surprisingly un-touristy and unspoiled. We would definitely recommend this property.

We have already spent our vacation several times in la Calèche and have enjoyed it every time. The location next to the vineyards is beautiful and the loving care by the hosts made the stay always an unforgettable experience. The gîte is beautifully decorated and is equipped with everything necessary (washing machine, dishwasher, satellite TV, etc.) and compared with French standard, luxuriously equipped. Being close to Carcassonne and the Canal du Midi makes the location perfect. A car is useful (and necessary) for exploring the area. Highly recommended!
Guest rating:
We spent a week in this beautiful premise. Much too short time, but extremely relaxing, nice evenings with open fire oven and very good vine, lovely afternoons at the uniquely beautiful pool and - most important - interesting discussions with Agathe and Jean-Noel. Will be back definitely one day! Maryna & Kai

This is a wonderful little apartment. We enjoyed a week in La Caleche, the smallest of the gites. Very nicely decorated with all necessary items, except perhaps pool towels. Charming environs. Plenty of castles and sightseeing opportunities in the vicinity. Excellent hosting by Jean-Noel and Agathe, who actually live in the building. We would come again - no greater compliment!
Guest rating:
My husband and I stayed in the smallest of the three gites in this peaceful location. The gites have been converted and renovated to a very high standard and are a welcome cool retreat when the weather is very hot. The interior was clean and well-maintained. The owners are very welcoming and are always on hand for a friendly chat or advice. The gites and pool area are surrounded by farmland and vineyards and it is possible to have some pleasant walks with very little traffic. There are no shops or restaurants very close by so you do need your own transport. It is possible to drive approximately 5 mins to the Canal du Midi and you can enjoy a walk along its banks into Carcassonne (it's about an hour's walk). The old city has plenty of good restaurants. There is a good baker, supermarket, and other retail outlets within a 10-minute drive of the gites.
Guest rating:
This is the absolute best home base that we could imagine when we stay in the Carcassonne area! It has a little of everything. Close to restaurants, close to the canals, beautiful grounds, amazing views, and such a private pool. The gites themselves are roomy, unbelievably clean and have everything that we could need for our stay. We love the Japanese style pool house and spent many a day just relaxing by the pool drinking the wonderful (and amazingly reasonably priced) wines provided by Jean-Noel and Agathe. Can't wait to come back!!
