Superbly Presented House in Medieval Heart of Lively Village
"South France Village Houses" (Rue Baratier and Rue des Fontaines) are 2 delightful 3 storey houses lying in the medieval heart of a lively gardoise village. Each house has 2 bedrooms and sleeps 4 people. Situated in the desirable district of the Vaunage between the vibrant cosmopolitan towns of Nimes and Montpellier. Calvisson lies surrounded by vineyards, beautiful countryside and stunning scenery to the north and the vast sandy beaches of the Mediterranean coastline and the Camargue to the south.
The village itself with all amenities is buzzing with people going about their everyday lives and there is the added treat of the busy market selling local produce, flowers and artisanal products, which takes place in the village square every Sunday morning.
The beautifully decorated interiors of Rue Baratier and Rue des Fontaines, designed in neutral colours to reflect the classical stonework, provide an elegant and refined setting. Accented with period antiques of the region and with fully integrated modern conveniences, the houses are a blend of old world charm and up-to-date facilities.

Ground floor
- Garage / utiilty room - access to the house leads directly to the garage which has parking space for a small car and incorporates a fully equipped utility room with washing machine and dryer and airing and ironing equipment. This entrance from the road also leads onto the original stone staircase with cloaks and separate WC.
First floor
- Sitting room - spacious and furnished with a mix of stylish furnishings in neutral tones and period antiques. The exposed stone walls with high ceilings give the classical Provençal feel whilst the large shuttered windows and the addition of 19th century mirrors enhance the light and airy effect. The living room has a comfortable sofa and armchairs around the log-burning fireplace, an ottoman which serves as a coffee table and converts into a single bed. The is a TV and DVD system and a study area.
- Kitchen / dining area - there is a modern refectory table which seats 8 people for casual or elegant dining. The kitchen, fully fitted with dishwasher, fridge, freezer and ample storage space, is equipped with all the utensils and crockery required for preparing your lovely Mediterranean meals with fresh local market produce.
Second floor
- Master Bedroom - the master bedroom provides an oasis of calm for more solitary moments. The light and airy bedroom is naturally lit from both ends by large windows which also provide natural air conditioning. The elevated position offers fabulous views over the Vaunage landscape whilst the opposite French windows look out on to the rear courtyard. There is a large armoire and period chest of drawers for storage and a chaise longue for relaxation. The king size bed has been carefully selected for its quality and comfort. The stylish ensuite bathroom has a WC, bidet, wash basin and large shower cubicle.
- Bedroom 2 - also decorated in cool, neutral tones, has a standard sized double bed and fitted wardrobe with shelves. The room is also naturally lit and aired with double shuttered windows offering the same lovely views over the surrounding village rooftops and countryside. The ensuite bathroom, again a combination of stonework and modern finishes with cool white bathroom furniture, has a WC, bidet, wash basin and shower room.
Both bedrooms have wall mounted TV and DVD systems.
- At both properties there is a lovely rear courtyard decorated with pots, trees and shrubs of the region.
- The small 'water bassin' with fountain at each property provides a welcome cooling off area from the midday sun which floods the courtyard, whilst the exterior lighting allows you to take your aperitifs and evening meal on the outdoor table and chairs in the cool night air.
- Rue des Fontaines has a stunning vaulted fully equipped summer kitchen and dining area.

How to get to Rue Baratier
The local transport infrastructure ensures that access to the area is easy by any means of transport.
Nimes is located at the foot of the main autoroute to the South of France, and Calvisson is just 11km west of Nimes. There a daily TGV rail service to Nimes which takes less than 3 1/2 hours from Paris, the Eurostar operates a service to nearby Avignon, and there is good access to a number of airports such as Nimes, Montpellier and Marseille, which have daily flights from most areas of the UK and Europe.
